The irony will be quite something if Gable was cut from pro wrestling, then pro wrestlers make a move into olympic wrestling where he was anointed The Chosen One but he doesn't participate because he pursued other opportunities. I'm very supportive of a person pursuing what they choose rather than what is chosen for them/ what others think is best vicariously but that doesn't change the narrative.

Senior Pan-American Championships (May 8-11)

Oh wow you're right. That's a headscratcher considering some people are double-dipped from OTT for the single spot. Not that head scratching decisions from USAW are uncommon... -

He was 2nd at 70kg WTT last year which qualifies him under rule 7b) as a 2024 Senior Men’s Freestyle National Team Member -

Skeptical is a postive spin. The Hulkster is a well-known huckster. How does that saying go? Hoping for the best... -
Athletic Brewing has twice the flavor and the same ABV as that Ultra swill

He's only 30 years old. He has at least 25 years until he hits his pickleball prime!

He had a few Fargo stop signs in greco and freestyle, but no formal competition after high school until last weekend. Illinois RTC has always had strength in the greco side of the house and he often trained with the greco guys. Here is a interview with USA Wrestling where he goes more in depth on the transition:
-
US greco is atrocious* Better off to send NCAA high flyers such as Lovett and Andonian and Ramos who can let the fur fly since domestic isn't patient and technical enough to win high-level matches, much less medal. I will ask what do we have to lose at this point? We are already rock bottom and can't qualify most weights so why not?

Also, best of three means that if Lilledahl does take a match then the next time around he gets to take on a very, VERY pissed off Spencer Lee. Not to mention that TnT are not afraid to distract the ref while DeSanto hits Lilledahl over the head with a folding chair. They saw Carl's chair antics in 2017 and they will absolutely turn it up to 11 if it means Hawkeye victory. The deck is stacked against the future of 57 this time around.

There is a universe where it happens - just ask Matt Ramos. So here's how much percent I give:

The criteria has been the same since 2015. The only difference is that the final best-of-three wrestle-off between the returning medalist/US Open champ if no returning medalist moved from the end of world team trials to Final X. Consistency lends to clarity. Now the greco procedures this year on the other hand WERE clear as mud - the US Open was World Team Trials. Very weird.

Correct throws are garbage. They are literally participation points and should come with some orange slices when awarded.

No one talks about all that baby fat he's going to gain the younger he gets

Winning the Fargo crown year after year is never enough. How many IL guys are already in the senior greco finals this weekend btw? 4 out of 10 finalists ain't too shabby of a start 55 Jayden Raney 60 Zane "I already made the senior freestyle team" Richards 63 Ellis Coleman 77 Kamal Bey

2011: Burroughs beat Nick Marable at the 2011 US Open immediately after NCAAs then beat him again at WTT. Dake chose to go to Univeristy Natl's where he got 2nd to Howe, then DNP at WTT. 2012: *Burroughs ran through the 2012 Olympic Team Trials where there were no byes 2013: Burroughs beat David Taylor at the 2013 US Open (Dake didn't compete) and then beat Dake at WTT. 2014 Burroughs won the US Open over Taylor then beat him 2x more at WTT. Dake did not compete at either due to injury. 2015 Burroughs got a bye to the finals and then beat Dake 2x under new direct bye rules. 2016 Burroughs became the real Magic Man when everyone disappeared from 74kg. He won the olympic spot, Dake fell short at 86. However Burroughs did not medal, therefore no direct bye in 2017. 2017 Burroughs once again beats Dake at the US Open, gets a bye at WTT, and then stop me if you have heard this before but JB beat Dake to make the world team. 2018 UWW creates a new 79kg weight class and Dake finally gets a chance to make his mark as he makes his first world team and first world championship. Both win medals. 2019 Dake and JB both enjoy byes to the finals, win spots and world medals 2020ne OTT JB gets the direct bye as the returning 74 medalist, Dake gets a bye to the semis as the 79 medalist and proceeds to snatch Nolf's soul on live television. Dake finally wins. JB and Dake switch weights for a couple years until 2024 OTT where Dake gets the finals bye, JB gets a bye to the semis and loses to Nolf meanwhile NLWC/PSU fans show their true colors. Dake had plenty of chances over the years, he just didn't capitalize on them.

There was always a level playing field at the US Open when Burroughs would leave with the bracket. Dake always had the same opportunity.

Sounds like a transfer to Ohio State is in the works because they don't work on escapes in high-pressure situations

Also holding & making weight approximately a month apart between WTT and Final X, rather than potentially making it either 1) two months apart, or 2) three times over two months. That said, other than possibly Nolf, 79 has approximately zero competition at the level of current JB. Perhaps he is also contemplating going up to 86... or cutting hard to 74.
