Is Jason Nolf the most under appreciated 3xer ever ?

Gray Simons. -
FRL today top 10 wrestlers the last 50 years. heh.

ChatGPT sports lists are about as good as that Twitter account that trolls the hell out of every CFB fanbase annually. Wrestling folks revolted (predictably Karen-like) when it was posted on twitter a few months ago. These discussions are fun, though. I had to correct Ben when he was calling out the D1 win streak leaders and skipped over Gray Simons, who had "NCAA/NAIA" in my screen shot. The GOATS need not be forgotten because they competed in an era with dual affiliation and before NCAA divisions. -
What does it mean we default on Jun 1
Jason Bryant replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
For a guy who hates pro wrestling so much, he certainly likes to use its parlance to annoy me - and yes - he does it (or at least started doing it) to annoy me. Commitment to the gimmick I guess. The moment I say it at the NCAAs is the moment I quit doing what I do. When you hear me say it at NCAAs, it means I've given up on all hope and just don't care about the quality of work or respect for our sport. -

Don’t you try to bring me into this warped political landscape!!! It’s an apt bowling term and an apt “pro wrestling” term. Find it in just one official NCAA document in the last half-century. It has been written incorrectly for generations. But much like many a political discussion, facts don’t always matter … -
It's clickbait and has zero value. Here's a question I put in the other day. Why is Gray Simons one of the greatest American wrestlers ever? ChatGPT I'm sorry, but as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, I couldn't find any information about Gray Simons as one of the greatest American wrestlers. It's possible that Gray Simons is a relatively new or lesser-known wrestler who gained prominence after my knowledge cutoff date. Without additional information about Gray Simons or their achievements, it is challenging to provide a specific assessment of their status as one of the greatest American wrestlers ever. Wrestling has a rich history in the United States, with many exceptional athletes who have made significant contributions to the sport. If you have any specific details or accomplishments about Gray Simons, I may be able to provide more insight.

As Gimp pointed out, Old Steve is Steve Barrett. The "80 Olympics" thing may be an embellishment of sorts for the sake of the story, but he was on the ladder and had heavy international wrestling experience at the time. It's a nuance that really no one but us cares about. I don't think Barrett is out there saying he was on the team. It's like if someone messes up a fact in a retelling. It's entertainment, so that's not one I'm going to be like "LIAR" on, for example. Warren legit beat Bormet in the bloodround and he's also cited Dort Mayabb in his last special by name about her running a marathon. I once found a picture of Steve Barrett in an old AWN and sent it to Greg. He replied with "oh the hell he put us through"

I don't mind ads that much, considering that's how some of the sites make some money back on their expenses. Although I do find it interesting when wrestling folks have complained about content behind paywalls, saying they should get advertising to cover that, then they use ad blockers to browse the web. I use Brave to block most ads. I know when I develop the newsletter, I see some of these news sites not with ads, but with 50-60 tracking cookies in their code. That's a hard no. Here, there's 3. I have no problem allowing those ads and trackers when I post from the computer (like I'm doing now).

Don’t have any. Use the paid version of the Tapatalk App to browse the forum - also works with a few others I read.

Honest Opinions for 2023-2024 - Your Team Edition

That place in Norfolk. Wood Selig still sucks. </End honest opinion> -
That school, at least the last time I was in the gym, is super nice. It’s not a bandbox.

Don’t forget youtube videos.

I don’t really market it since there are numerous things that are active projects that are partially done. I also don’t know MySQL that well yet, so I’m cheating the display with a wordpress plugin until I fully understand it/have the time to learn it. It’s a quick thing that helps me solve other people’s bar bets, too.

Pirate puts a ton of time into that stuff during the season. His results match what the NCAA uses for qualification, so it's worth a bit more than that. He doesn't get paid for that time, so I try to at least reciprocate some type of financial appreciation for what he compiles. And he's not my size.
-
The page is more or less a sandbox of things I work on. I was using the Pirate's weekly results dump to see how hard it would be to create reports and expedite the development of my annual preview guide (I also paid him a "license fee" of sorts for my use of his data compilation). I'm sure @SetonHallPirate can send the full sheet easier than I could, since my almanac page has a lot of proprietary tables from my own research that I've posted for the public to consume if they wish, but not to take - so there's some copy protection on the site for that reason.

This event was also an event that helps athletes who do actually represent the U.S. at the Worlds seeding points. So while Mark Hall and Dom Bradley aren't in Final X, those who are in line to make the squad did actually earn points they'll need to get separated in the bracket. AND if you're on the National Team, that's one benefit you get. What's the point of earning a spot on the national team if the staff is just going to send someone who didn't earn their place on the ladder. Blergh.

Where should nationals be held?
Jason Bryant replied to TwoPointsTakeDown84's topic in College Wrestling
The put Omaha back in play, although the size of the airport and flight options there are much smaller than I expected. Of course, that was 13 years ago and I went back-to-back with D2 and D1. -

Jason Bryant replied to TwoPointsTakeDown84's topic in College Wrestling
No. When you get done working (that year) at 12:15 and want a beer or three, you were basically given last call as you were getting settled someplace, provided there was room. That wasn’t a great part about working the event in Omaha. -

Definitely isn’t called as liberally at the Europeans. I think every mid-level ref is throwing it up. It’s been cleaner when you have the vets on the whistle. Chair and Judge still have to confirm the caution.

Notice no one is posting any pictures of where the fans were actually sitting. Also, STYLE is not a factor in attendance. Teams are - and also, note that TWO schools and two tournaments draw more than the Open did. Teams matter more than the individuals. CKLV had teams and also didn’t draw worth a crap. No Iowa and Midlands doesn’t draw. Scuffle does OK, but not in a 10K arena either. We show up for ONE event. It’s not the style - it’s US.
