Boy's Soccer games in Qatar
Jason Bryant replied to Interviewed_at_Weehawken's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
Katie Hnida was NOT in the NFL. And is this an AI bot I just replied to? -
A number of the Texas schools had some form of wrestling, but old results show very few competed outside of Texas. It was more club competition than anything else. The formation of teams was also loose and fast prior to the determination of divisions in 1974 at the NCAA level. Tennessee entered a guy at the (IIRC) 1964 championships and they didn’t even have a team. These instances are less of them being dropped and more of the coach who organized the team left and that was it. It’s not like we have a lot of Grand Canyon and Fresno State (second time) situations where admins started a sport then bailed on it shortly thereafter.

People still thought I worked at USAW a decade after I left (and I only worked there for 3 years). Was my sig on the old board, then when this opened up, people assumed (incorrectly) I also was working again for InterMat/this board. Then Willie put it in his sig in a poor attempt to annoy me … I’m fine with that. -
Former Hawkeye great Eierman arrested

He’s still a four-time All-American … one of two guys to beat Yianni D in college. He doesn’t check that box either … -

Agreed. Eierman isn’t considered an Iowa legend by anyone except the OP. -
One Idea after Conference Shifting
Jason Bryant replied to bracketbuster's topic in College Wrestling
Stanford to the ACC would impact bids minimally. I think you'd take I'll add that up when I get some time. We're also looking at the potential from 24-25, so I believe Bellarmine is eligible by then (I'd have to triple check), I don't believe Queens would be eligible by then. That may be their last transitional year. It's another reason why I put a minimum of 7 in the newer ones, except the Ivy (unaffected by realignment) and the EIWA ... which could still catch a stray as an affiliate from the CAA or somewhere else. -

2023 UWW U17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS- Countries
Jason Bryant replied to gimpeltf's topic in International Wrestling
Way to not actually read or comprehend a single thing I tried to explain fairly to you. The US does not have a documented history of cheating doping tests at the governmental level - Russia does. That is the reason people are still unsure about the inclusion and the suspect nature of it. I don’t think there would be too many instances of Russian wrestlers cheating, but the fact the organization that’s in charge of testing them has been documented in cheating for the athletes, there are few ways to know until it’s too late - often 8-12 years after someone’s been cheating. Read. Comprehend. Understand. These are facts of the context, not an attack on Russian wrestlers. -
2023 UWW U17 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS- Countries
Jason Bryant replied to gimpeltf's topic in International Wrestling
It’s not about winning, it’s about the repeated and documented multiple failures of said drug tests. USADA is one of the most aggressive antidoping outfits in the world and those US basketball teams aren’t failing PED tests while winning either. No one’s accusing countries of cheating because they win, they’re accusing countries of cheating because they have been caught cheating multiple times and there seems to be no hurry to clean up the anti-doping outfits in those countries. It’s not ONLY a Russia thing - look at the countries that aggressively dope in weightlifting, boxing and other combat sports. Russia doesn’t need to dope en masse … yet they have. That’s the point. We know not every champion is complicit in doping. -
That would be fake news.

I love “The Great Outdoors.”

Don't forget what social media adds to the conversation. You get some football-minded neanderthal spouting off about "how much money you bring in" as they're responsible for sitting on that pedestal. It's frustrating as a fan of numerous college sports (primarily wrestling and hockey), where the uninformed football fan sits. They hang on that "no one's paying to watch swimming" type of response ... I just want to scream. Just because you like the most popular spectator sports doesn't mean there isn't a value to the school. A revenue stream isn't what dictates fanhood. Probably preaching to the choir here.

One Idea after Conference Shifting
Jason Bryant replied to bracketbuster's topic in College Wrestling
I’ll be doing an updated show on this as soon as I get a confirmation on two things - the moratorium on creating single sport conferences is over and the CAA interest in sponsoring wrestling again. I shift my structure every time there is a conference move and now it’s time to update. -
Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 12 shuffle (maybe) coming in hot
Jason Bryant replied to bnwtwg's topic in College Wrestling
Oregon State is at the minimum for NCAA men’s sports with 6. They have men’s rowing, but it’s not an NCAA Championship sport (women’s is). Unless the NCAA drops the minimum # of sports below its current threshold, it appears from a numbers position, Oregon State appears to be in a solid spot in terms of sport sponsorship. -

I haven't had a hand in anything streaming ops related since I left USAW over a decade ago. I can only tell you what the case was when we implemented this.
