That's why we have an initiative on the Nov ballot to rescind the carbon tax. It is a tax on gas, diesel, natural gas, electricity made from natural gas, food harvested and planted with machines that run on diesel, food trucked in by trucks running on diesel, the list goes on and on. The oil companies must bid on credits and then pass along the cost to the rate payer, me!! The natural gas is the same. The government lied and said it would be nothing, mere pennies. yeah, up to 50 pennies. mspart

We have that tax here in WA, and it is up for deletion via initiative. The carbon tax adds 50 cents to a gallon of gas, which is why we have the next to highest gas prices i tnhe nation. The money collected does not go to roads but to special interest groups, that may or may not do anything about CO2 in the atmosphere. Not only that, but they do not monitor how well the law is doing at reducing CO2. It's almost as if it were a giant money grab with no real concern about CO2 levels at all. mspart

When unions start demanding 70% increases in wages, they have outlived their usefulness. The unions are there to protect jobs, not facilitate in getting rid of them. But that is what will happen. And the union will have fewer members to pay the fat cats at the top. They are self destructive. mspart

You seem pretty relaxed, I don't know if I would be. I've never been in a hurricane. WE came close when we lived in Hawaii. A storm bigger than thee whole state was coming and then it fizzled. I don't think they have had anything bad since Iniki which killed Kauai. That happened a few years before we got there. But I was nervous about this one but didn't have to love through it. The US has the most inefficient port system because of the lack of automation. That can't continue indefinitely. I remember years ago when Northwest Airlines mechanics got rid of their union because of no contract for a few years. They voted in a new union who said they would get industry leading wages and benefits. And they did. Now Northwest did a lot of their own maintenance. So a year or so after that contract was signed, the shops were all closed and those guys lost their jobs to cheaper labor elsewhere. They priced themselves right out of the market. Management totally used that new union to get where they wanted to go. mspart

I guess when the moderators say they will not fact check and that is up to the debaters, and they enty sneak in fact checking that is demostrably wrong, that is a problem. That is why Vance felt it necessary to correct the moderator on on the Springfield - Haitian issue. She got it wrong. He had it right. But in putting it to her, they turned the mics off. Again, not what the moderators were supposed to do. They initiated that and talked over Vance continually even after he pointed out that they broke the debate rules. They were had and didn't ant any of it. The moderators were in the wrong on that one. mspart
