  1. I guess Bill Zadick is no longer being considered. mspart
  2. I think it was Retherford that couldn't qualify due to the 2020 Pan Am Olympic qualifier. Got pinned by Destribats of ARG. That's why we had no 65kg at 2020 olys. Talk about a land mine. mspart
  3. That is great information. Thanks! mspart
  4. It's that second period that is a killer!! mspart
  5. He was never the best in the US? That is a pretty bold statement. He is the best at 84kg right now. In the US and the World. So what you are saying is that he is less of a world and Olympic champion as Burroughs and Cox. An interesting conundrum. Let's keep in mind that Cox did not win a WC until he went to 92Kg, a non-olymipic weight. Yes that was a gift to Taylor and it looks like now he has taken full advantage. I don't think anything will gnaw at him. Why would it? He has proven himself to be the best in the world at 84KG. He grew into his frame and is now at his ideal weight. I have no doubt that the current Taylor would beat the then Cox at 84KG. Cox never won a WC or Oly at 84kg. Taylor has done both. The fact that Taylor couldn't beat Cox back then has no bearing on his success now. Or maybe you are hoping it gnaws at him. That would be a completely different story. mspart
  6. She's much too nice to be a part of that entertainment. I predict she won't last too long. mspart
  7. I knew Kish wrestled for UM but did not know he was in coaching. Hopefully he can pull UO out of its funk. mspart
  8. Space X did what he wanted and a little more. Twitter, I'm not on twitter so I have no idea. Just what I read about it. So far, his payroll at Twitter is much lower than when he bought it. mspart
  9. I think the point here is that they could go somewhere else and end up getting to the Olympics and World Championships. If Myles and Zahid were to stay with US, that wouldn't happen without something extraordinary happening. mspart
  10. How long did we wait for the next Dan Gable? Was that Cael? Dan was supposed to go undefeated and ended up losing 1 match in college. Cael didn't lose any. That was a long time. Has there ever been anyone at lightweight as dominant as Lee? For having bum legs, he was phenomenal Lee was. mspart
  11. I agree. 10 weights in the Olys would be ideal. I would add Dake and Taylor to that list as well. Multiple time champs. Now if we could only get back to glory in GR. mspart
  12. Here's a question. Knowing Lee's history of injury, is anyone actually surprised he didn't finish the NCAA tourney? I wasn't . But I am kind of surprised he didn't finish the US Nationals. He must have been hurting. I did see his last match on youtube and he was 9-0 at the half and did not score 2nd period, did not really even come close. Something was amiss. mspart
  13. Gable just completely took the weight by storm. That was an awesome display of prowess. Any predictions on his ability to win Worlds this year? mspart
  14. True and harsh. But that is life in the jungle. Honestly I don't think Vito will lose to Lee. Not the way he is wresting right now. mspart
  15. So who is the next potential light weight 4 timer (almost)? That would be tough to get correct. mspart
  16. Well, he is concentrating on Space X now. Was he fiddling with Twitter and screwed something up in a spare moment? mpart
  17. Myles Amine has gotten medals and went elsewhere so he'd have that opportunity. Zahid might think about it. mspart
  18. No, when FILA went from double elimination to speed things up, all losers were out, single elimination. Except for the semi finalists. Only 3 semifinalists would get a medal. Winners of the semifinal would go for gold, losers would go for bronze, and there was only one Bronze. Now the system is if you lose to a finalist, you go into a repechage in order of when you lost to try to fight for a Bronze. The theory is that if you lost to the finalist, you might be better than losing to someone who lost to a non-finalist. Each side of the bracket gets a Bronze. mspart
  19. You have to admit, we are doing much better now than years ago in the worst drought we've had in the 2000s. It was bleak. Since JB, we have had at least one medalist since 2013 until now. And we have monsters on the team that are winning gold consistently. A great time to be a US Wrestling fan. mspart
  20. Well, FILA's first shot at it was worse. Losers of the semifinals fight for Bronze. Now at least losers to the finalists get another shot at Bronze. That is much more fair. mspart
  21. It has been the case since I've followed that the US Nationals Champ was in the finals of the WTTs or OTTs. Winner of the WTT tourney or OTT tourney would then face them in a best of 3. That is still sort of the case. That final is now called Final X. But in the past, medallists did not automatically place into that finals spot. Now that we have that, we have no WTT this year for 8 weights in MFS. That competition is always a highlight, if not a redo of the US Nationals. Gives another shot. We had a phenomenal year last year. 2021 we had 7 medalists so similar in nature. We have done very well internationally these last few years, much better than the drought of the 2000s. I guess we'll see how it plays out in 2023. mspart
  22. I think this is correct. It is just too bad he wasn't able to continue, a lot of people were looking for him to be successful. Maybe he was successful based on his goals and objectives. Again, he now has a full year to recover and gain strength in his knees and psyche. Best of luck to him. mspart
  23. Will the Argentinian brute Destribats be there? Right in his home. mspart
