Harvard… freedom of speech for some

Did anyone besides Nic Bouzakis wrestle eight matches? What is the highest number of college matches wrestled by a single athlete in 24 hours? I am aware of ten matches in 24 hours for a high schooler this weekend.
-
No dog in the fight. It seems weird, but Carr arguably wrestled the better match and lost. I don't have an opinion on whether a TD should be increased to 3 points to match the TD. This has me wondering... If freestyle largely awards points based on scoring difficulty, what is the reasoning for considering a TD as more difficult than a reversal? Is this reasoning why the TD is now worth more than the reversal in Folkstyle?

Does the parent angle nix that OP is also a coach that coaches against the opposing coaches?

X promotes information through recommendations, popular content, and people I follow. Some of the discussions about current events captures my attention. I research the underlying sources to generate my understanding when anything more than 'just the facts' is shared. Tucker is an example of someone who brings issues to light that should be validated... Robert Reich is another... Sometimes this involves reviewing MSM. Red flags go up anytime words of tyranny are used. 1440 type news is https://twitter.com/Join1440.

People don't understand sarcasm. A long-form podcast between your second cousin Theo and Roseanne Barr is available on X. I listened for an hour, and Roseanne says that the holocaust is fake and that it needs to be true today for 6M Jews. I recognized it as sarcasm based on the discussion's larger context and from awareness with Roseanne. One signal immediately before is that the 'Always a Socialist' is talking about people preferring the real bullshit and 'the truth' and the real truth is that Biden got 81M votes by winning 36 counties. It isn't rigged... its a fact that 36 counties can give you 81M votes. Don't you dare speak differently, or you will be deplatformed... And nobody died in the Holocaust either... that's the truth. It should happen, 6M Jews should die now because they cause all the problems in the world... This podcast was removed from YouTube for hate speech but is available on X. Guess what was all over the media? Articles like this call Roseanne out for antisemitism. My takeaways Mainstream News is propaganda. I missed the smear since I stopped following the mainstream news. Understanding context is hard Theo is interesting X support of free speech is good Best quote from the podcast Comics are the last free speech art form. As long as we are performing, things aint as bad as they could be. A smaller blurb of context for the clip is here. It's scary that I listened to the long podcast by chance, recognized the smear opportunity while listening, and confirmed it was a smear job in the news.

Will X go bankrupt over Musk's careless wording that sabotages advertising revenue? Do you respect Musk for expressing his own opinions in tweets that you don't agree with talking about free speech being more important than profit actually losing money from advertisers rather than moderating content in ways that activists demand suing Media Matters for their underhanded activist behavior
-
Thanks for the direct responses. See mine inline.

Excellent point. I agree. Disney(s) can reframe "This isn't blackmail, it is conditional advertising." X can reframe it as "Okay... this isn't blackmail; it is coercive negotiation and pressure tactics to direct our policies on free speech. Go ***duck** yourself!"

I'm sorry Rasta. There are many different ways to handle this, and I'm scratching the surface with commentary below. Actions of cancel culture Spread the word about the coaches on wrestling forums, school groups, and more. Get people to complain, write letters, and call the school. Threaten a lawsuit if the school doesn't do something, and involve the media if needed. Important!-> Do anything to ensure consequences without first talking to your son, his coach, and the opposing coach. Actions of Freedom of Choice Think about your role as a parent (protect but don't baby) and a coach (see something, say something). Talk to your son and then decide if further action is needed. "How was the match? How did it feel? What do you think about how your teammates, coaches, competitors, and fans communicate during matches?" If he doesn't call it out on his own, maybe he isn't aware... perhaps you can prevent creating an issue that he wasn't aware of. If your son is upset, discuss this as a growth opportunity. He can't control others from choosing to be a jerk, but he has control over his attitude and response. Frame it as an opportunity to toughen up. Ask him how he will respond: Will he let it slide, quit, or use it as motivation? Talk to him about his responsibility to stick up for himself. Suggest he inform and request his coach to share feedback with the opposing coach. If you decide to step in, then consider Leverage your relationship with the opposing head coach, talk privately to gather intent, and provide feedback sooner than later. "In that situation where you felt the 150lb match was a waste of time, you said something demeaning out loud, and it had <this> impact. What was your intention?" Communicate concerns with your son's coach to collaborate on actions or inform him about your previous actions. Some people will try to address concerns broadly at a coaches meeting or in an email, keeping it anonymous, and nothing could be a bigger waste of time! Crucial conversations are necessary to provide direct feedback and maintain the relationships. If the opposing behavior repeats after being directly addressed, consider additional rational action... without being a jerk.

That Carr v. Ramirez match is the showcase example for the 3pt reversal to match the 3pt takedown.

Cycle the track wrestling servers

Been on break forever at this HS event. I want to be in the root cause discussion…

It's different. X killed mainstream media for me. X is the main news source outside of wrestling sites that I'm willing to pay for.

Amazon Music offers no stats to share. I'd love to see what pops up on my shared family account. Personally, I've probably listened most to a ~ 'clean' playlist I created for youth baseball teams... that borrows heavily from MMA, Wrestling, and MLB walk-ups. 140 songs. Metal playlist, Grunge playlist, Blues playlist, and Old Country playlist come after. Random. One of the only TV series that I always sat through the title on was due to its theme song: 'Bad Things' by Jace Everett.

@Wrestleknownothing Why is Bill Ackman wrong in his informed opinion? X is treated unfairly and inconsistently by advertisers Musk is targeted because the other media organizations view X as a competitor and controversies increase clicks/revenue The Disney(s) cave to public pressure in a way that is not in their best interest Musk did not have antisemitic intent when he responded with the ‘actual truth’ tweet Musk is correct in saying that Jews should rethink support for organizations that seek their elimination. Earth is fortunate that X is owned by an individual that is largely insulated from financial and other influence. About Bill (mainly from Wikipedia) He is a longtime donor to Democratic candidates and organizations He is a signatory of The Giving Pledge, committing himself to give away at least 50% of his wealth by the end of his life to charitable causes. Ackman has given to charitable causes such as the Center for Jewish History, where he spearheaded a successful effort to retire $30 million in debt, personally contributing $6.8 million. Ackman's foundation donated $1.1 million to the Innocence Project in New York City and Centurion Ministries in Princeton, New Jersey. Is an American billionaire hedge fund manager who is the founder and chief executive officer of Pershing Square Capital Management. From a counter view, the main angle is to propose Bill is a fraud protecting his investment, namely... PSCM invested in Twitter with principles of free speech and is holding their investment in Twitter for the long term without concern for immediate profit. (from the above tweet) I think Bill's tweet was well-spoken, well-informed, and well-reasoned from the larger context available. Is Jewish Pro Palestine, Pro Israel, Anti Hamas (Tweet)

Have you seen the body camera footage in the first 20 minutes of the documentary? I had only seen the viral video before. The first 20 minutes are without slant.

What do I win for fooling anybody? Am I hiding behind a fake member name? I've mentioned before that I live in the Midwest. A lot of my background has been shared that explains how I am and talk. A corporate mix of diverse backgrounds stateside and in developing countries has tempered my ignorance. I can't talk unfiltered anymore... rather slow and overthought. Suppose you are paying attention to this and the last forum site... You might notice that I talk about my daughter wrestling in high school, my goddaughter is nationally ranked in high school wrestling, I was at a wrestling dual last night, I was pinned in the high school state finals, I can list my state's best wrestlers, I bought a wrestling mat off a World Team member and gifted it to a kid in need, I follow college wrestling, I posted a photo of my family at the World Team Trials in Texas... I'm not driving hours to Minneapolis to visit Floyd Square, but you can DM me for a Facetime call to educate me.

There is no argument (yet). I have no interest in visiting the area nor am I wanted there. After watching some people in the area commit crimes, do drugs, commit violence, and riot, it is expected that I would research if the area is a safe place to visit. ^^^ People in the area can be uncivil at times. More evidence is in this local perspective, trip advisor, and you. In this topic, you have not answered questions. I will be specific and honest if you will be civil… I will surprise you in a good way but also frustrate/anger you… I do wish you well, and sympathize with the folks whose lives are so hard they feel compelled to communicate with violence.

I have been wondering why Joe would run for president again. Does he love his son enough to retire? Does he love his son enough to stay in office and pardon him? The GOP may be slow playing… drip… drip… as political strategy. Wait to act closer to the election… ensure Biden is running again to assure victory.

^^^ I did not report this incident and push for consequences from the demeaned wrestler's parent, coach, school leadership, and the spectator's employer. I did inform the spectator about conscious civil discourse. I might refuse to sit with this spectator if the behavior is repeated or gets out of hand(cancel my time). I would not try to prevent others from sitting with this spectator at a wrestling event. If the behavior was grossly out of hand, I might advocate a temporary restriction on attending wrestling events. What behaviors have we seen on X? Can you spot the nuance between Freedom of Choice and Cancel Culture?
-
Yesterday at a wrestling dual, a spectator loudly stated, "Stop playing with her!" I silenced the spectator with words I rarely use: "Shut up!" I thought the spectator, my wife, was accidentally demeaning a wrestler publicly in front of other parents/students. Some high school kid said it first. This spectator parrots and unconsciously amplifies anything anyone says when her wrestler is battling. This has me thinking about freedom of speech and how it plays out in public spaces (in-person vs X). Did my action align with freedom of speech, but not reach?

Are you familiar that Musk has apologized multiple times for different tweets? Is it accurate to refer to Media Matters as evidence of an evil cabal out to get him? MM is being sued for directly trying to cancel X through underhanded action. What do the high user counts and average time on X > 30m daily indicate? Why could Musk see Disney/Bob as an enemy? Perhaps because they are not supportive of how X is trying to manage the balance of free speech with restricted reach. Maybe Disney is the activist! Or maybe Disney will not stand up to Activists. Musk's attitude might be, "If you are not with me, you are against me," and it sounds like Disney is trying to negotiate X's behavior in order to advertise. I may fire Disney for not supporting X amongst other reasons. Content moderation relates to freedom of speech relates to 'actions having consequences.' Remember that Media Matters were there to tell us that hate speech/slurs increased when Musk laid off the Safety group at Twitter. Remember that Twitter X took a hit initially on increased hate impressions before reducing it to levels below the Musk acquisition. X accomplished this mainly by banning bots and through other means (sprinklr). X gave control to advertisers with new projects like Adjacency Controls and Sensitivity Settings. According to third-party measurement partnerships Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify, the average brand safety score on X is now >99%, and brand suitability scores were at >97% when these controls were applied. Since mid-May, all major agencies reversed their pause guidance against advertising on X. Last quarter, 1700+ advertisers returned to X – including 90 of the top 100 ad spenders from a year ago (blog). Re-enter Media Matters to execute devious behavior to smear X's brand safety and suitability features. Just as advertisers apply consequences to X, both X and Advertisers should hold activists accountable for their behaviors. I suppose Community Notes could be a negative influence on advertisers... advertisers don't like being fact-checked
