What do you all think about Bidens "renters bill of rights"
jross replied to mspart's topic in Non Wrestling Topics
The government regulates how all/most land is used and developed, but it only owns about 30% of the land. Once, the government bought land from me at a price (eminent domain). I did not want to sell, but I was paid the market price. Being paid matters. I buy and sell my property at market-driven prices. The title has my name on it rather than the government's. I do question the right of a government to charge property taxes on the property I own. It seems I'm somehow leasing the property from the government rather than paying a contribution for government-offered community services. In end, taxes do not imply government ownership. I still own the property. -

Public housing, rent control, land trusts, and subsidies can be considered socialist. However, I assure @Plasmodiumthat I bought an investment property with my own money, at my risk, and I set my rental/selling price based on supply and demand. Most housing is owned and controlled by private individuals and companies, and personal property rights are protected by the constitution (5th & 14th Amendments + Contracts clause). -
Paul really was under threat but spoke in riddles and might have been drunk or have dementia. The phone call conversation with the dispatcher was weird. The way he answered the door and spoke to the police was weird. It seems a crazy guy broke into the house looking for Nancy and hit Paul over the head with a hammer. They should have released these videos immediately and avoided the conspiracy talk.

How long did you interact with LBJ on the old forum? LBJ exaggerates to make a point, and his opinions are based on an element of truth. A full-grown Lee did beat up on still-maturing boys passing through the weight. He did cut weight to make the world team because of Fix. Lee is a Brute. My partial definition of technical includes performing multiple moves and performing them with controlled precision. I don't have enough information about how technical Lee is in part because his relative strength is so high, and his matches are so short. Tilt much? I believe his best days are behind him, he still is the best 57kg wrestler in the USA, and he has the potential to be a senior world champion. It is a reasonable opinion to believe he will not even make the USA world team.

Spencer is a brute with brute genetics. His 145lb father could bench over 300 lbs. Spencer can do a proper chin-up with 140 lbs chained to his hips. He looks like a brute and executes the same moves in every match. I love watching him. There is a boy at my local high school that doesn't know how to wrestle. He probably squats 500 lbs and benches 300 lbs while weighing 175 lbs. I watched multiple duals with my daughter and said man that boy is so strong, he could be really good if he knew how to wrestle. He doesn't know what a hip heist is. He tries to do cross-face cradles from behind the hips. It turns out the boy is ranked at state. My daughter has strength and flexibility from 20+ hours of weekly gymnastic practice for years. She has never lifted a weight but squats over 200 lbs at 140ish lbs. She wrestles like a backward hammer. She turns the wrong way into half-nelsons, and the opponents still cannot turn her. I've never seen anything like it. It is good to have @LJB on the forum. He delivers facts with a knife.

You can learn more about his case in 2013 from his co-defendant in this 2021 appeals case. The 2013 story is that he and a buddy decided to rob a drug dealer, they both had guns, and the buddy admitted to the actual killing. Salas took a plea deal and had credit for time served to get out in just eight years. I wonder how he was sentenced to only eight years and why he wasn't life in prison due to the Illinois three-strike law. Mike and I share different opinions and beliefs on the non-wrestling forums. But at the end of the day, we are all part of the same wrestling community. We support each other and pay it forward to the next generation of wrestlers. For example, Eric Akin sold me his wrestling mats at a significant discount for my son. I gave those mats to a new youth wrestler last year. I mentioned that my daughter started wrestling this year to Mike, and Mike sent wrestling swag and provided feedback on her wrestling. My daughter laughed when I told her I bicker with a World Champ's father, and he had a surprise for her. My daughter quickly fell in love with the sport, and DP is easily her favorite wrestler. At worlds, I was impressed with Dom's ability to finish shots and her no-panic defense discipline in winning close matches. From watching interviews/clips... Dom seems happy, confident, and well-supported. Kudos to Mike and her. How very different this is from another father/son combo that used to be on this forum. It's great to have MP on the forum, his support for women's wrestling, and his pride in his daughter's accomplishments. Good job, Mike, and let's go, DP!

As a private citizen that owns rental property, the government should stay out of my business. The government can offer to house or subsidize citizens to pay rent from citizens and corporations. I don't mind if the government regulates corporations within reason. I own rental property. One tenant has paid on time for ten years. It is standard to raise the rent by 5% annually without exception. I've raised the rent by 5% once in ten years, and this was due to my mortgage insurance costs increasing. The tenant doesn't call me to complain, and I am two years from owning the property outright. The neighborhood now charges 80% higher rent than me. This makes me a bad businessman because I don't maximize profit. -

Silly boys cannot have a serious conversation and cannot respect opinions that are different than their own.

The death penalty is not flippant about human life. I can't think of anyone that would rejoice when the death penalty is employed, but it is the government’s right to execute the perpetrators of the most evil of crimes, and we can wear our big boy pants and talk about it. It isn't weird, rather, it is quite common for folks to support capital punishment. For some like me, support comes from a deep care for protecting innocent human life.

Is the White House or the Republicans the clown for this message? I support drug price regulations and assume most of the regular population also does. Was this included as part of some larger bill with other provisions?

A highly anticipated clash of world champions can occur at this weight as reigning gold medalist Dominique PARRISH (USA) and 2021 champ Akari FUJINAMI (JPN) are registered to compete. Parrish rolled to a world title in her senior world debut last September. Fujinami was noticeably missing from the bracket as she pulled out due to an injury just days before the World Championships. There are seven other past world medalists scattered throughout the field, including 2022 bronze winner Karla GODINEZ (CAN). She won her medal at 55kg in Belgrade, but moving down to 53kg in preparation for the Olympic year. Tokyo Olympic silver medalist and two-time world bronze medalist Qianyu PANG (CHN). In addition to Fujinami, the other three medal winners from 2021 are registered for this weekend — silver medalist Iulia LEORDA (MDA) and bronze medalists Samantha STEWART (CAN) and Katarzyna KRAWCZYK (POL). A third Canadian world medalist in the mix at this weight is 2018 bronze winner Diana WEICKER (CAN). Poland is also bringing 2017 bronze medalist Roksana ZASINA (POL). https://uww.org/article/zagreb-open-five-womens-wrestling-storylines

You assume I favor killing people, which is not the case. It is a just punishment for heinous crimes. If Salas had been punished appropriately for his first killings, he would not have been able to commit his latest. Singapore "We prefer not to impose the death penalty on anyone, but we have to continue to do what is best for us as a matter of policy." 80% believe it deters crimes and significantly contributes to its low crime. Criminals agree.

It is more than double in all cases. For context, what are 10 or 30 maternal deaths divided into 100K live births? Zero percent. There are bigger issues to care about.
