  2. What's your net worth, $500K? Were you fined 13% of that... er $68K? Pay up buddy.
  3. It's a bad hook but at least show the whole thing.
  4. Ender's Shadow, from Bean's perspective, was good. It's been so long that I forget one book from the next. Speaker for the Dead was interesting as the Speaker's goal was to provide a full and honest portrayal of the deceased individual, acknowledging their virtues and flaws. I've always wondered why people did not take the opportunity to speak the truth at funerals. Getting the perspectives from the alien species was good for self-awareness considerations. Some later books had pacing issues (boring) and abstract themes around philosophy and consciousness. I remember wondering ...huh... but I still enjoyed them and read them quickly one after another per Amazon in Feb of 2023. The 'interconnectedness of all living beings' theme was interesting. This reminds me of personal findings from my ancestry research. Starting with building out my family tree on Ancestry.com and then connecting with FamilySearch.org, I've found many Americans have a genetic interconnectedness. If you have a dead grandparent in America, the odds are very high that we can immediately find a shared common ancestor within a few hundred years. Last Friday, I discovered I am 9th cousin with one colleague, 9th cousins in-law through marriage with a second colleague, and 8th cousin with a half-Asian colleague. Despite the diversity of cultures, languages, and histories across Europe we are cut from a similar cloth.
  5. The criticism about corruption and health applies to all presidents... not just Biden. These politicians should aggressively get the answer to 'yes.' Has political corruption been reduced? Does the government uphold the same standards it holds the people to? Are citizens healthier than they were four years ago? Is citizen purchase power better than today? So long as >50% of the voting population believes the corrupt-controlled news, the answer remains 'no.'
  6. Bad - Americans are sicker than they were four years ago, and we all are paying for it. Reducing the obesity trend in America would reduce the cost of health care by lowering obesity-driven sickness. If America went hard to decentivize high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, and Trans fats, obesity would plummet, and health would increase. These slow killers are too complex for consumers to vote with their wallets (knowledge, accessibility, costs). Imagine coupling the decentive on bad foods with a financial incentive to maintain physical fitness. Biden is not the cause of the obesity problem, but his administration effectively ignores the causes.
  7. Bad - corruption continues to get worse
  8. Bad war on children allowed
  9. Biden good Doesn't paint his face orange Pulled the troops out of Afghanistan support for decriminalizing cannabis potential outcomes of the CHIPs act potential oucomes of modernizing America's infrastructure potential to reduce prescription drug costs
  10. Biden Bad - Top of mind Weakly spoken, soft on accountabiliy, lies, gaslights, doesn't respect personal boundries (e.g. univited hugger) Economy, Energy policies, Covid handouts, Inflation, Purchase power, layoffs, student loan forgiveness Growing federal workforce (e.g. bigger government) Foreign affairs (money distribution, wars entered, Afghanistan troop pull out approach) Illegal immigration enforcement
  11. You are America is a shining city on the hill. That is 100% Trump. Yet you cannot find a positive thing to say about Trump. Biden is the 'not Trump' president that buries America First policies and you give him praise unlike anyone I've ever encountered. You are correct, coupling America First with Biden support make zero sense.
  12. Trump good The slogan Make America Great Again was fantastic. See my list what great means to me. America first policies Strong economy and stock market before Covid Protected tradational values with supreme court picks No new wars that I recall He met with Putin and Kim Jong-Un Self-sufficient energy Tougher on illegal immigration Price transparency progress in health care He held partners and countries accountable Surprised nobody mentioned the first step act
  13. Trump bad - top of mind Mean, Brash, Lies, Vanity, and not diplomatic He caved to his advisors and allowed the coronavirus cure to “be worse than the problem itself”
  14. 100% that fake news predates Trump and has gotten worse He popularized awareness of it. Personally I had higher trust than Democrats in 1997 and lower trust than Republicans in 2016. See more charts, including how zero trust in news increased from 9% in 1998 to 39% in 2023. https://news.gallup.com/poll/512861/media-confidence-matches-2016-record-low.aspx I agree that people generally fall in for whatever side ‘their media’ is displaying. It's part of the emotional side that human's cannot escape. However my own observations is that these charts are accurate. I see it reflected in these forums. More right wingers will criticize their political side and right-leaning media as compared to left wingers criticizing the left-leaning media and politics. Personally I don't trust much of any news on first read anymore. Warning signs It includes an opinion It is one-sided It includes an outlandish headline Multiple news report the same keywords / language A quick readup on the author The sponsor / ownership majority of the news company It goes against real-life common behaviors... e.g. internal bullshit detector fires So much grattitude here for independent journalism and raw video access on X. The good > the bad on X.
  15. Ender's Saga was good. What did you think about the Shadow Series?
  16. Besides the strong economy, popularlizing the term 'fake news' helped millions to discern manipulation and bias in the information they consume. It also helped many realize how the government and corporations leverage the news and social media for their own purposes. There was a time where I wouldn't have believed this segment from Mike Benz. What I wrestle with is whether folks don't believe it or whether they know and prefer it.
  17. Someone’s appreciation for Biden is in conflict with his love of country.
  18. This forum comments informs us direcly that people feel this way.
  19. OMFG. Listen to this video. Read the video comments.
  20. Let us know your thoughts on the Kindle. I like the paper in hand. I don't like pruning the bookshelf. Sticking to books here for now.
  21. That's awesome! I've been watching and don't have it down. Part 2 and Part 3 is where newbies like me give up for some time.
