  1. I've interviewed over 100 candidates, but only one made it through screening for a DBA position without the ability to provide a basic description of a database, indexes, and SQL. The recruiter told me we had interview quotas to meet.
  2. You might get a unique perspective from reading Bill Ackman's revised understanding of DEI, which was triggered by the meritless hire of the Havard president and her controversial leadership. https://twitter.com/BillAckman/status/1742441534627184760 A recent example is exposed by whistleblowers at IBM. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/ibm-diversity-efforts-targeted-by-stephen-millers-legal-group Another example is in the Supreme Court ruling about unlawful racist admission policies in universities. So far as my daughter, the engineering field will be better off depending on what she is capable of and accomplishes rather than her gender.
  3. Trust the science... Oops - Scientists at a Harvard-affiliated cancer hospital are planning to retract six studies and will correct an additional 31 as part of an ongoing investigation into image duplications and discrepancies in dozens of papers from some of its leading researchers. A post on For Better Science, a blog focused on scientific integrity, flagged potential problems in papers co-written by top scientists and executives at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The institute is widely regarded as a national leader in cancer treatment and research, and much of its scientific work is supported by taxpayer dollars; it received more than $160 million from the National Institutes of Health in 2023, according to a federal database. https://forbetterscience.com/2024/01/02/dana-farberications-at-harvard-university/
  4. Thank you for sharing this. I read and learned more about the Pilgrim experience here. https://www.hoover.org/research/how-private-property-saved-pilgrims
  5. How do you determine that education is progressive? When the workers, content, and outcomes reflect examples like what we've seen with diversity quotas in business. What is racist about DEI? In practice, it incentivizes for reasons other than merit. For example, skin color. DEI directly violates the USA constitutional expectation that no one should be treated differently than anyone else because of their gender, race, ethnicity, or other fundamental characteristics. DEI is partly why if my eldest child becomes an engineer, she will have significantly more opportunities for the sole reason of being female.
  6. But... but... In the city of Opulenceville, Waldo's privilege was unmistakable. He exuded opulence, dressed in a newly acquired, bespoke cashmere sweater and adorned with an exclusive stock cap. His cane, crafted from rare wood found only in Privilege Peaks, symbolized his elevated status. The designer glasses perched on his nose weren't just for vision but served as a filter through which he saw the world, tinted with the hues of entitlement. Waldo's privileged white background and impeccable fitness were a testament to luck and the luxury of time. Waldo's every step echoed privilege, turning heads and prompting whispers... TPTD thought process when he sees Walde... probably ^^^
  7. Will you look into the answers to your lurking questions, or should I do it for you? These questions you are asking are a PRIME REASON to research beyond what the main street news feeds you.
  8. I asked my three kids the old grading question. You know.. the one where the teacher decides to teach the class about socialism by giving every kid the same grade on tests. At first, everyone got a B, then a D, then an F. This concept was new to them, and they (11, 14, 17 years old) answered immediately and correctly as I told the story. How did the students' attitudes change after the first test? (the studiers were frustrated, the laggards were happy) Why do you think the average grade dropped in the second test? (the studiers lost motivation, the laggards stopped trying) What happened to the students' cooperation as the tests continued? (no effort from anyone)
  9. The media does want to control our thoughts. That's not up for debate for folks that follow the Main Street News, read the journalist vs citizen surveys on the purpose of journalism, understand who pays the media and why, etc.
  10. You asked where the data is that supports the media bias. It was provided in support of general information and business journalism bias. You are welcome. The data leads to your smart question: why would businesses promote progressive ideas that are bad for profits? My mind wonders about the progressive education system that corporate leaders and the youth attend. The youth want to spend money on corporations that reflect their values. That incentivizes businesses to spend on progressive ideas to be attractive to the youth. Another influence is that some giant hedge fund owners have expressly communicated that they will change corporate behaviors by force of money. And... some of these behaviors make me sick. It is fantastic to see multiple billionaires taking action against coercive behaviors of racist DEI and fascist speech suppression.
  11. SMH - read! https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/media-bias-left-study/ One of many available links with information was provided for you earlier. Here are some excerpts: 462 surveyed financial journalists (58%) described their political views as very or somewhat liberal, while a small minority (4%) described their political views as very or somewhat conservative. That is 13:1 rate of liberal to conservative rate of journalists in the business world. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3279453 From having near-parity with the general information journalist Republicans in the 1970s, Democrats today outnumbered Republicans by four to one as of 2014. In 1971, Republicans made up 25.7% of all general information journalists. Democrats were 35.5%. By 2014, the share of journalists identifying as Republican had shrunk to 7.1%, an 18.6 percentage point drop. http://news.indiana.edu/releases/iu/2014/05/2013-american-journalist-key-findings.pdf The percentage of 'independents' grew significantly, but the financial donations are over 90% left. This could mean that independent journalists are moderately left, at least on social issues. https://ballotpedia.org/Fact_check/Do_97_percent_of_journalist_donations_go_to_Democrats
  12. It seems like the passivity call is called against alternating wrestlers across periods while little has changed in the wrestler's behavior.

  14. Why did you see yourself in this role? The first thing that really hooked me was just wrestling because I loved wrestling so much in high school. Collegiate wrestling is different than professional wrestling. People are going nope, but collegiate wrestling is really an incredibly disciplined sport. Some people say it's a kind of sadomasochism. It's a wonderful combination of training, endurance, you know mental agility. People who are wrestlers are a very bizarre breed of people, and that's what originally hooked me into it. They're usually very individualistic... because no one comes to see your wrestling matches. Usually, it's you are in a small steamy room, it's always bizarre. I don't know if we can put this on TV but I used to have my own... my mother and father came to see me wrestle once. I was winning, but every so often, the coach would yell crotch ride, crotch ride. I know mom's going 'no.' But it's a wonderful sport I mean I really loved it...

  16. It’s a great resource for citizen and suppressed journalism. Video evidence you can only find there. Well reasoned arguments you can only find there. Just like the news nowadays, you still have to research the source and separate fact from opinion.
  17. Is it written that the ref should put the active wrestler on passivity first, and then put the passive wrestler on passivity second? I see this occurring on the regular. Is this an unwritten rule to give advantage to the active wrestler? I would like to think the passive wrestler gets put on passivity every time but…
  18. A classic pattern. Demand sources, skip reading, and call you an idiot.
