Cal State Bakersfield's wrestling program
Wrestleknownothing replied to NearFall's topic in College Wrestling
Who jas CMU beat? Let's get rid of them too. -
Those are management fees, not commissions. They get taken out of the assets of the fund.
-
@jross this is very sound advice. Returns are unpredictable, but fees are not. Which leads to the mutual fund recommendations above. They are all very high fee funds that have performed anywhere from meh, to very poorly. Fees range from 0.6% to over 2% for some of these. There is no coherent strategy involved either. Many are asset allocation funds that have large bond holding along with stock holdings, yet the suggestion is to hold some bond funds to get bond exposure. I wound not accept any advice you find here. Including my own.

Those yields are annualized, not period yields. So the 4 month return is 4.8/3=1.6%

I hadn't noticed that, but you are spot on.

Not necessarily under rated, but I was looking at brackets from 2010 - 2022. The most busted bracket I could find was in 2016 at 174 pounds. The podium contained the 11 (1st Myles Martin), 12 (5th Nathan Jackson), and 13 (8th Alex Meyer) seed along with an unseeded wrestler (4th Lelund Weatherspoon). Does anyone know of a more busted bracket prior to 2010? Note: My finishes are mid-point of the range where they got knocked out if not an AA.

As of right now, there are 27 teams that have a chance at multiple All-Americans based on the average rank across Intermat, Flo, and Wrestlestat. Some of those teams are near certainties while others have a remote chance. To come up with the list I averaged everyone's rank across the three services. Then assuming ranks are equivalent to seeds (they won't be), I applied the historic seed results to determine the likelihood a given seed will AA. I have posted that likelihood graph before, but here it is again for reference. There is no surprise that PSU, Iowa and Nebraska are the top three. But Nebraska has the least room for error among the top 10 teams. Only PSU and Nebraska are expected to get more than 50% of their ranked wrestlers on the podium (71.6% and 58.7%, respectively). Purdue falls just short. Note: People always struggle with the decimals in this. What does 0.44 of a wrestler look like, they ask? Since these are probabilities the best way to think of it is the decimal represents the probability of rounding up and one minus the decimal represents the probability of rounding down. Using PSU as an example, they have a 56% probability of 6 AA's and a 44% probability of 7 AA's (that oversimplifies a bit in that it assumes those are the only two possible outcomes - they are not). I will update this when the actual NCAA seeds come out.

RBY can hit 100 on the head if he wins out (Clarion dual, three B1G, five NCAA), but there is a good chance he skips the last dual against Clarion.

Does swimming count?

And he is a rarity these days in that he only used 4 seasons to do it.

Does Anyone Else Like the Ads on this Site?
Wrestleknownothing replied to MedicineMan's topic in College Wrestling
Perhaps, but not in this case. One of @Husker_Du or @BobDole had previously mentioned that they were working on fixing the ad experience. Still more work to do. At this point they are just taking ads from the highest bidder rather than sort through the chafe. -

OK, so the soft core stuff is annoying enough at work, but now you have barely disguised hard core shit? You clearly want me to stop using your site at work, @Husker_Du, @BobDole -
No need to get into shape with replay
Wrestleknownothing replied to 89Cradle's topic in College Wrestling
Amen. And the weird thing last night is there was no challenge that precipitated the review in the Johnson/Mauller match. The refs made the call, then doubted themselves, then took forever to review the call that no one asked them to review, then confirmed the original call. In that case, it sure looked like the presence of video became a crutch, or a source of fear that they would be second guessed. -
David Carr vs Keegan O'Toole 2/15
Wrestleknownothing replied to PortaJohn's topic in College Wrestling
One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong. Can you tell me which one is not like the others By the time I finish my song? -
David Carr vs Keegan O'Toole 2/15
Wrestleknownothing replied to PortaJohn's topic in College Wrestling
That is the part that fascinates me too. Unless Carr wins big again at B12 or NCAA's I would still call a re-match a pick 'em. -
I do not enjoy the I enjoyed the _________ era.
Wrestleknownothing replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
Yes, I did know that. But my point wasn't about the invention. It was about the decision to drag out the worn out method of trying to victory dance on O'Toole. But you already knew that. -
Who on this board was the worst wrestler?
Wrestleknownothing replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
I was asked to coach my daughter's soccer team one year. I had never played and never coached. There was some dishonesty involved by the team organizers and we wound up having to play U18 even though we had players as young as 13 and only 3 17 year-olds. But enough about my excuses. We went 0-12-1. I missed the tie, so I was 0-12 as head coach and the assistant was 0-0-1. My daughter was the co-high scorer on the team with 1 goal. The 13 year old had the other goal. -
It looks like 4 of those are during his redshirt in 2022. And I do not know what they do with non-D1 wins, but he had 4 of those in 2019 and 2 in 2020. He also had a win over a teammate in 2019. So if you remove all of those he is at 89 wins.

What top wrestlers left eligibility on the table?.
Wrestleknownothing replied to Threadkilla's topic in College Wrestling
Yeah, it never made sense to me that someone who was actually affected by COVID (anyone whose fourth year of eligibility was 2020) in that they lost a chance to be crowned champ, or AA, or NQ did not get the benefit of the free year, but someone who was completely unaffected by the shutdown at the college level (2021 freshman) got an extra year. It is like they transferred Mark Hall's 4th year to Carter Starocci and they get 8 between them. Non-sensical. -
So many things bug me about the Keegan O'Toole version of this tired thread. What is the point of trying to score internet points off of someone's lose. First we bitch about ducking and think one of these guys is gonna duck. You heard it hear first. Here a duck, there a duck, everywhere a duck duck. Then when they wrestle it is time to score some points off the loser? This is a hackneyed bit. I remember when @Jimmy Cinnabon could be counted on for top class wrestling message board trolling. Now I am waiting for him to start a "Who Let The Dogs Out?, Boo Yeah, All That and a Bag of Chips, Da Bomb David Carr for Heisman and Hodge" thread. And back when this even was an original way to troll it was reserved for perceived frauds, or over-hyped wrestlers. Keegan O'Toole is absolutely not either of those. You are forcing it and it just is not working. Dumb. It's just dumb.

Don't discount that I was trying to type and watch. All errors are my own.

What top wrestlers left eligibility on the table?.

Well, I am glad we got that settled. Grant Willits was eligible to return this season, and would have been the highest returning placer at 141, but decided not to. -
