  1. Yes, they are all over the place on Cole Matthews and Dayton Pitzer. Cole Matthews is still #1 on Wrestlestat while Intermat has him #3 and Flo has him #6. Flo does not even include Dayton Pitzer in their rankings as his red-shirt/not red-shirt status could still go either way (only 3 match days), but Intermat and Wrestlestat include him in their rankings.
  2. Isn't winning it everyone's best case?
  3. Got me. I just started doing this with rankings this year. Last year was the first time I did anything with the data and I used the actual seeds to come up with predictions for the tournament. Then I updated the predictions based on each session's results. I got the first four positions correct. Nebraska and Northwestern did much, much better than I predicted. I had them at #14 and #16, respectively. They finished #5 and #6.
  4. At the risk of distracting from the dirtiest thread on the Intermat forum, I give you the latest updated team rankings based on the intersection of Intermat, Flo and Wrestlestat rankings and expected points scored by seed based on NCAA tournaments from 2010 - 2022. It has been suggested in another thread that Cornell could finish as high as second this year. So let's focus on The Big Red Bears this week. Depending on who you believe Cornell looks to come in 4th or 5th based on their current rankings. But the margins are pretty tight in both directions. Sometimes it is best to average predictions. So let's do that. Here Cornell stands 4th. But to quote Satchell Page, "don't look back, someone may be gaining on you". Cornell edges out Nebraska in 5th but has a manageable gap to cover to catch Missouri in 3rd. Even Iowa up in 2nd is not out of the question. Which makes me think, I need to work on some sense of probabilistic ranges around these averages. Stay tuned. Of much less interest is the title race. Here Iowa has closed the gap a tad on PSU. Last week the gap between PSU and Iowa stood at 35.2 points on average. This week, after everyone realized that neither team can score from neutral, the gap has edged down to 31.7 on average.
  5. what is the new by-law?
  6. The food is awful, and there's not enough of it.
  7. Is Lee bumping up to 133 like last week?
  8. That puts you at 26 plus or minus? Assuming 10 for Lee, 4 for Woods, 4 for Siebrecht, 2 for Warner, 6 for Cassioppi. Sound about right?
  9. I have not actually seen it. I have only heard it spoken of in hushed tones. But I imagine it looks something like this.
  10. As has been pointed out by many who watched the Iowa/PSU dual, PSU does not look like the bonus point machines they have sometimes been in the past. I say sometimes because even last year they only put up 15.5 bonus points (though in fairness, that was more than any other team in a down year for bonus points). What teams have the potential to put up the most bonus points at NCAA's this year? Recent History: Since 2013 the only team to have the most bonus points without also winning the title was the 2018 Iowa squad.
  11. How many of the Iowa fans were applauding Moore not getting teched or pinned? Gibbons seemed to think that was noteworthy as he mentioned it twice. From that video there is no way to know who was clapping, how many were clapping, or what they were clapping for.
  12. You created a new username just for these two posts? Ok.
  13. The comment I posted when I saw Iowa was sending out a 171 lb kid at 184 was "lamb to the slaughter". After the match I posted "that was hard to watch". And it was. I found my attention drifting during that match. So, yeah, I guess it was boring. Hell, the Iowa coaches looked pretty bored, too. You could here Terry Brands telling Rhodes, "get your one" when he was down 10 or 12 (I forget the exact moment, but it was late). And the fact you could hear that on the feed suggests the crowd was pretty bored too.
  14. Similar to Brands attitude toward 184 lbers?
  15. 184 had...well...action.
  16. First place has already been devalued through the ages.
  17. Roid rage is real
  18. No, but a coach has "Gable repeatedly mentioned the significance of the words engraved at the base of the statue: “(No) stalling…execute…contribute forever…in sport and in life.” He says he was known to persuade officials to warn his own wrestlers for stalling, and if done at the proper time, it would help his Hawkeyes realize important principles."
  19. For me it was exciting in the moment. The lack of takedowns meant so many matches were in the balance to the very end. But after individual matches I was disappointed with the lack of offense. PSU did not get so much as a takedown in 5 matches. Iowa failed to get a takedown in 8 matches. And 3 matches were won without either team getting a takedown. Only the first 2 matches had any kind of offense (I am not including 184 because it was such a mismatch).
  20. You are missing the point. This is a referendum on PSU fans.
  21. That said, the real boredom came from the lack of takedown attempts. Did a losing wrestler from 133 to 285 get a takedown? Did one of them take a committed shot in the first 6 minutes of their match?
