I nominate Cal State Bakersfield heavyweight Jake Andrews. Freshman year: 1-10 Sophomore year: 1-17 Last year: 7-16, best win was over wrestlestat #75, a backup for Cal Poly So far this year: 7-2, best win is over 2x NQ and wrestlestat #31 Trevor Tinker of Cal Poly and also has wins over wrestlestat #60 and 69, the most recent of which was a major decision in their dual against Michigan State. Dare I say possibly training with the Focus could have helped him? Any other nominations? Cal Poly’s Zeth Romney could be an option, but he was already pretty good last season. But he did lose 16-3 Evan Frost at CKLV last year only to beat him 7-3 this year.3 points

Vance VomBaur has basically solidified he wasn’t a fluke AA. He’s been breaking matches open. He was losing those close matches last year. By the end he was winning those matches at NCAAs with his crazy pace.3 points

Even if closer, barring penalty points the two team scores must equal at least 30 points.1 point

Witcraft will need some witchcraft to beat Ayala (or a hail Mary). Cam Amine has never beaten Caliendo and is not looking great this year. We'll have to wait and see what Jacori looks like when (if) he comes back. Can't argue with anything else. It does seem like odds are slightly in OSU's favor though. Should be electric!1 point

Hey Russian Troll Bot, I was asking a veteran a legit question about a tattoo dealing with a military unit. I was not addressing you. Go back to the troll farm.1 point

Frankly, after the freestyle match I’m surprised if consensus has Keegan as favorite. I’d lean Haines. What is cool is that you know both camps have done a ton to review that match and are game planning. The next result will also largely reflect on the coaching / adjustments. Will be fun.1 point

Or maybe we heavily tax compute processing by AI, crypto-mining, and driverless car tech. All interesting, and all very energy draining. Yet none proven to actually provide anything useful to society other than as a drain. We can all breath for a very long time without concern if wasteful technologies are identified and managed. There's a reason China banned crypto-mining in 2021. And, yes mspart, I agree that plants should be around. Plants should be a much higher priority than tech.1 point

Looking back at it, I think the writer meant that that would be a nice rule change. An aspirational goal. I was fooled, and I'm glad you spoke up so that I was incentivized to check the actual rule. Cheers!1 point

The reason for this is that it is written that the committee can step in and say 'WAIT. This is wrong.' There is a limit to movement, though, right? Like two up or down, MAX? Also, if Cael had no issue with him at the 9, maybe they didn't even try to contest it? Is that a thing?1 point

The author just got it wrong. The rule is unambiguois. The five free dates only applies to the first year of enrollment (true freshman year).1 point

Birden is long and tough, and he'll be a problem for years in the B1G. Shumate won that match. Swenski didn't wrestle up to his #43 Wrestlestat.com rating, and that makes him 3-2 on the year. Y'all need Feldman back. Finn Solomon is a good wrestler. That was a nice win for D'Emilio. I'll be rooting for Sasso against everybody but the ILLINI.1 point

Yes rule: 13.9b.8.3.15 Slaughter Exception probably applies to the Jan 10th event.1 point

I don't disagree with you. I phrased the question for this kind of discussion. Should they be viewed equally? Should Keegan get the benefit of the doubt until Haines notches a folkstyle win that proves he's on KOT's level? Does Haines freestyle win make him the favorite? I think all views are fair, and that is the fun of talking about the matchup.1 point

We have made it through the first month of the season, plus the CKLV last week. With such a grueling tournament last week, combined with most schools preparing for (or taking) exams, this upcoming weekend will be rather light from a competition standpoint. A total of only 18 duals will be contested and no open tournaments. Since it can be difficult to figure out where and when to watch all of these events, InterMat has put together a list of all of the live-streamed events occurring this week. Below are the dates/times and how to watch each match (with links). To make this guide even easier to find, we've added a link on our homepage and the latest Live Streaming Guide will appear right under the header articles.
