It’s a fun quote but you’re generally going through 2-3 solid to high level guys in Big 10s and 3-4 in NCAAs. Depends on the draw but those sentiments are either anecdotal or slogans to pump up the conference. That said, the Big 10 tournament is no joke.

No doubt.

Most definitely for some years at some weights.

While it's probably not the majority of the weights a champion only has to beat two All Americans, the runner up and someone that places 3-6.

If the two best Big Ten wrestlers meet in the finals he only needs to beat a "minor" AA.

I've seen weights where wrestlers have beat three AA at b10s

In the modern era, has the B10 or any other conference swept a weight?

What wrestlers faced the least number of AAs in a championship tournament?

What wrestlers faced the most AAs at NCAAs? Anyone with 5 without or 6 with a rat tail?

Where is some wrestling know nothing when I need to know something?

The Big Ten will have 32 to 40 of the All-Americans maybe more this year. They will have a large portion of the top 4 in each weight class. This time of the year is a real grind in the Big Ten.

I guess it would be 8 all Americans, 32 man brackets, freshman eligibility. Could debate no d2/d3/naia inclusion.

He obviously didn't mean it literally.  He's a guy who talks so intelligently about the sport.  It's unfortunate that fans in this thread have latched onto his take like it was a real opinion.

3 to 4 per weight. I don't know. That sounds like a lot, but I don't know how many the conferences have gotten in the past. Anyone know?

Not the first time I have heard that statement directly from b10 national champions. Might not be their entire careers but from specific years

I went ahead and looked up last two years.

35 AAs from the Big Ten in 2025.

30 AAs from the Big Ten in 2024

I am sure some said it and meant it.

They were obviously wrong.  The very best of the big 10 are at every NCAA.  The very best of the Big Ten are the main part of what makes NCAA so hard.  Without the Big Ten guys the NCAA would absolutely be easier than NCAAs.  But the NCAAs are the very best of the Big Ten plus the very best of everybody else.  Nobody has every won a NCAA title without being in a bracket with the very best Big Ten guys.

For anyone reading this:

Nolf kind of chuckled after he said this and C.P. clarified that Nolf was "only" a 2x Big10 champ. It was clearly a tongue in cheek comment from Nolf.

Yes he does mean it.  Did you actually listen to the broadcast?  And he gave reasons that were persuasive and spoke as someone who has actually wrestled in both tournaments.

His stance is from a #1 .  In the NCAA's a one will see a 32 then the 16?  many times these guys are below the 14 or 8 in the B1G. And then when he got to the quarters he was wrestling mostly B1G guys. So he had 2 easier matches.

The Big Ten doesn't have a round of 32.

The Big Ten's round of 16 is not close to as tough as the NCAA's round of 16.

Joe Dubuque was never 1st at Big Tens

Stuff like this has zero bearing.  Jake Rosholt won 3 NCAA titles and 1 big 12 title.  That has nothing to do with which is harder and everything to do with how Jake Rosholt wrestled in those tournaments.

Pump the brakes sir, I’m just stating a fact. Whether it has any bearing? So let me get this straight, you’re saying Nolf is Full of shit.

That's definitely what I'm saying.  That definitely matches up with my posts in this thread.  That's definitely not a strawman that absolutely nobody ever would say.
