Metcalf, Burroughs, Gilman, Schwab, Zadick, Lee, Dake, Cunningham, Ramos, Derringer, Pritzlaff, Askren bros, Erisman, Retherford, Snyder. I'm sure I could list more. If I sat down and put any effort into it

Surprised no one has mentioned Tom Ryan.  Iowa alum.  Tremendous success at Hofstra and tOSU.  What might he do with a huge pot of NIL money?  He's not young but appears to understand the modern sport in a way the Brands bros don't.

The student announcers on BTN+ said Tom Brands has the hottest seat in America just after the start of the second period at 141 earlier.

Oof.

In the last 10 years Iowa averaged a 3.2 finish at ncaa(s) where Ohio state avg finish was 5.1.   I gave iowa #1 in the Covid year and Ohio state 3.  Even  without the Covid year Iowa averaged a better finish vs I think single team in the ncaas outside of psu.

Did they also say someone got a tech fall decision and have really no idea what’s going on in wrestling?

So they’re in a supper relevant position to discuss coaching hot seats?

Yes, they are the number one source on what coaches are in the hot seat. They have been since they saw there first dual......which was today

Cool.  🙂   I usually defend college kid announcers.   They have to learn somewhere.  It’s not like there is an army of wrestling knowledgeable people out there other than who we know.   Idk they said that just challenging whomever said their hot seat comment had any real meaning other than they have time to fill and need to say words

I think your right on with the trying to fill the void by saying something the found on Facebook. Which would be brands hotseat talk

I could get behind a 'Ringer (HC) and Gilman (AHC) tandem.

Imo ringer needs to be in every HC discussion. He is an unbelievable talent, and has helped in every rtc he has been at

Where'd you hear that? Iowa might be maxing out its NIL spending right now but their finances aren't exactly stellar. If the program were to run at a deficit and deplete their reserves, the state legally wouldn't be allowed to bail them out (same with ISU). Also Iowa's NIL war chest is pretty small compared to tOSU's, and longer term, that gap could widen if Ohio State gets its wish for disproportional revenue sharing when the B1G media deal is renegotiated in a few years.

No parent in their mind would send their son to wrestle at a school under the leadership of Austin DeSanto. I’d bet the pig man’s farm on it.

You haven't met half of the wrestling parents I've met.

Biased, but not far off.

Ringer would be a FANTASTIC Assoc HC under someone (idk maybe at IL under Ramos... errr Poeta?) before he moves up. He genuinely needs a little more experience on the other side of the pendulum but learning from Bormet who is the best of the best cannot express itself enough.

Kemerrerrerrerr is just a few degrees below ready in the oven, but he could fake it till he makes it for a couple years me thinks, and learning under Eggum for as long as he chooses is a godsend.

I think all three would do better than Dake or JB who for all their talents and quick recruiting wins just cannot teach their skills and would run into frustrations when other cannot replicate what they do best because they are literally the best in the world at what they do in a niche way. Hot take, !RemindMe 20 years

This is a thread about Iowa's next coach and we are bashing the student announcers for saying he is on the hot seat, within this thread??   Maybe their source is this message board, Brands job gets called into question more than anyone else's here.

The AD may not actually be considering firing Brands but no other coach in wrestling has people calling for his job more than Brands.
