Few of the names thrown out

Cunningham - Don't see him ever leaving Cael's side.  He's essentially already a head coach

Burroughs - Big name and could create a lot of buzz but how realistic would his success be with no coaching experience?  Yes, DT is in that same category but can you strike lightening twice?

Koll - A few years ago this would've of been an epic hire.  Koll is a great CEO and with Iowa's resources could've built a scary monster in Iowa City

Schwab - Logical choice, hell of a coach, could build something special

Metcalf - This is who I would pick if I was the AD.  Knows Iowa but has also stepped outside the bubble and can refine it.

Hahn - East coast guy, great developer, and has ties to the Iowa tree wrestling under JRob

Dake - IDK, how can you coach other guys to pull off moves that defy the general laws of physics.

Asst's/HWC - Seeking out someone like Jason Nolf or a wrestler from the AWA umbrella.  Bring in new concepts and get guys who are innovators

DeSanto and Ramos as co-head coaches

Gonna be tough for them to pull off the good cop/bad cop routine on the team.

Metcalf would make a lot of sense and he has been getting groomed as an assistant now for years. I'm sure he would love to take the next step in his career soon.

Co-coaches are a good idea.  Ramos could lead when DeSanto is suspended for threatening to kill another tournament worker

And DeSanto could lead when Ramos spots Stieber in the crowd and pounces after him like a lion on a wounded gazelle.

Would love to see Metcalf or Ramos, but they both seem to be happy with having some distance from the program. DSJ might be another good choice, and he'd have a good recruiting pipeline too.

But either way, Iowa can't afford to or doesn't care enough to replace Tom right now. Maybe Terry and M*, as I think their contracts are up this year. Conversely, all the fans who are worried about Iowa losing their recruiting class if Brands were let go are worrying over nothing. It's Iowa, the roster will be fine. Same way Okie State's roster was fine after Ol' Johnnie retired.

But a DeSanto Gilman co-coach team would be taking the Tom/Terry crazy to a higher level.  Any AD worth his salt is gonna want to up the current level.

I can't believe more people aren't mentioning Rob Koll.

It's because Koll is already 60.

Gilman is on the suspended list for whereabouts because he didn't file his retirement paperwork correctly.

Pretty sure Iowa is an equal opportunity employer.

not throwing it out for Iowa, but Yianna Diakomihalis has stated publicly that he would like to be a head coach (the "CEO" type, of the Koll mold).

he is the polar opposite of the meathead grind culture that is currently there. seems like it would be worth consideration in terms of a cultural reset.

I'd be shocked if Koll wanted any part of Iowa and especially lead a, "cultural reset..."

If the OSU move is the example, 250-500k a year would get a lot of good coaches to move. Especially when it comes with a loyal donor and fan base.

With what they Pay Tom and Terry they could hire ANYONE.

"Tom Brands, head wrestling coach at the University of Iowa, signed a 7-year contract (2022–2029) with an annual salary starting at $550,000 and rising to $800,000 by the 2028-29 season. Terry Brands, associate head coach for the Iowa Hawkeyes wrestling team, has an annual base salary set to increase to $400,000 for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons "

Does Iowa have a business school?? Cuz when it comes to wrestling, TnT, SlumLord Millionaire…ROI seems to be out the window, just throwing money out the window. 🤷‍♂️

No clue? Are you talking about Starocci?

Get rid of TnT, get Doug Schwab on board and give him 5 years, then reevaluate. I just don’t see things improving with TnT. If they had made an effort to change things up with assistants and show they are trying something, I might give them another year but they haven’t and now it is too late

Major donors and supporters of Penn State wrestling often include
alumni, former athletes, and corporate partners, with significant funding going toward facilities like the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex and team support. Key supporters include:
  • Rich Lorenzo: Former head coach and wrestler who raised nearly $6 million for the wrestling facility.
  • Galen and Nancy Dreibelbis: Longtime supporters who contributed to the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex and Rec Hall video boards.   Galen and Nancy donated over 5 million.
  • Pyramid Healthcare: A corporate partner supporting Nittany Lion wrestling.
  • Nittany Lion Club: The main fundraising arm that receives significant, often seven-figure, donations from supporters for athletic programs.

That is correct

Well he won more individual titles in the same timeframe than the entire Iowa team. So I don’t see this as a big flex

Psu fans pretend only Bob tosses $ at athletes as if psu isn’t doing it.
