Yikes. Really bummed for him. Hate to see any athlete's career be hampered by recurrent injuries.

Cynical take: I wonder if he continues after this and whether he finally stops going for that gruesome rubber knee defense

Hyper-cynical take: wonder if the coaching staff is going to come under fire for mismanaging and "ruining" their athletes like certain other coaches are criticized for doing. Sure seems like Lehigh has had a lot of injuries to deal with lately

I don’t believe Lehigh has anything to do with his injuries, he’s always been injury bitten, as far as other injuries Stanich and Rozynski both were hurt in scrambles during matches

Since when does any of that matter? The obvious conclusion is that Lehigh ruins its wrestlers 🙃

Hopefully, it is just rumors. I do not think any of the talking heads actually know more than we do at this point.  I listened to that segment on Flo, it sounded to me that they were just going off rumors.  He is a top 5 type of guy, with a chance to win it if healthy. Of course there is probably 7 or 8 guys that could realistically win 133 this year.

Crookham announced it himself he’s having surgery

From what I know he is a very smart kid and obviously a hard worker so I am sure whatever he does in life he will thrive at. I hope he gets to go out on his own terms though and not because of constant injuries. I was not around for Dustin Schlatter but it sounds like a very similar situation.

Kid just can’t seem to catch a break. Lost a year in HS, lost 2 now in college. Shame, just seems to have a hard time staying healthy. Brutal sport sometimes.

Thanks, I had not heard that.  ACL?

Thanks, that's too bad. Seems like there haven't been many season-ending injuries thus far; hopefully that continues.

Did anyone see the injury? It was at an open tournament that probably had zero formiddable opponents, but he was probably only there because he needed to qualify the weight for EIWA since he was out first semester with only a few matches so far this year.

He'll get a medical redshirt so he'll only lose 1 (this season), unless he gets injured again next year.

Crookham lost his JR year in HS was due to transfer from NDGP to Saucon Valley.  He just happened to be injured that season as well, eventually coming back in Feb of his SR season.

He just wrestled last weekend, isn’t that too late into the year for a medical RS?

A damn shame.  At the start of the season, I thought this would be his best shot at a title with the amount of young talent rolling in.  I'm curious to see where weight will play out for everyone in the next few years, and whether or not he can stay healthy enough to reach his potential he showed his first time around.

Pretty courageous to give up a knee instead of a TD.  I'm talking about a competitive characteristic/instinct and not knocking his technique.

Alred's knee went way past 90 in that Fishback scramble.  scary

I hate to get on my ref rant but Potentially Dangerous needs to be call quicker on knees, and involving shoulders when guys have both legs in.

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

What is the ref supposed to do when the wrestler repeatedly puts themselves in that situation. Askren always threw out the idea of removing potentially dangerous as a criteria so guys would stop putting themselves in dangerous positions just to get a fresh start. I don't hate the idea.

As a general take, it seems like there are a lot more injuries over the past 15 or so years since scrambling became a regular thing. It feels like careers are cut short and/or guys can't get through 4-5 years without at least an injury or two. The gumby, knee twisting stuff might be good to stop takedowns, but at what cost? Ben Askren made it out and I thought Keegan would, but alas.....

This really sucks for Crookham.

It was rumored he might of been able to go in the postseason last year.  I don't know if it's true, but this is more of reason why I think that if a guy can go, then he should.

Similar to the conversation with Jax, no one knows what will actual happen 4-5 years from now. I don't understand the argument of keeping his RS.

Yianni spent a lot of time under the knife as well. It's a risk these guys are all willing to take. I don't know how much tighter you can ref the action without totally bailing out the guy who gave up a leg in the first place. For every "the ref should have blown the whistle sooner" there are already a dozen accusations that a guy yelped to get a whistle to avoid giving up two like they are soccer players.
