I still wonder how it would have worked out if Otoole took a redshirt his frosh year.  Finished 3rd true frosh, natty champ next year.

His freshman year was the "free" covid year, so use it or lose it.  I thought the plan was he was going to RS but since it was the "free" year he competed.

Craig Henning got screwed in the 2007 NCAA Finals.

What about Mendez?  He didn't use a red shirt.  If he did he might be a 4 timer.

Zain Retherford went his last three seasons undefeated after wrestling his true freshman season. Maybe he would have been an undefeated 4-time champ if he had redshirted his freshman year? Inquiring minds unfortunately will never know.

I wonder if he makes the same jumps if he does not go that first year. He got so gritty to make the podium it kinda felt like there was a bit of a mentality shift there.

Forrest will be at NCAAs this year.
Sure. But will he be wrestling or just there to support his teammates?

I don’t get why you wrestle him this year already if he won’t go at NCAAs….. I could be wrong but I feel like that just takes away needed mat time for the wrestler going 133 this year then

I’m kinda thinking he goes.  But if he doesn’t, one reason for wrestling him could be to beat Iowa.

Redshirting would give him an additional year on the other end for NIL $. Assuming he has a stellar career....that could be a lot of $

But what about Ronnie?

Also who is providing this NIL you speak of?

There's no NIL money but I heard he's getting a consulting opportunity for Paycom. MSA Terms are 5 year contract, project deliverables due each July, $200k per hour billable.

The project has been scoped for approximately 5 hours, maybe more if a redshirt scenario presents itself.

this is satire. He's obviously getting paid in opportunities and networking.

Doubtful since Chad seems opposed to such.

You don’t think Forrest is getting much NIL?   Considering Bo Bassett decommitted from Iowa because of benefits Forrest was getting that he wasn’t, I think it’s a pretty safe bet he’s getting at least six figures a year on top of scholarship
