We the people should do more to exercise our power in term limits and stop voting in the “trash”.

Or…..we can just keep whining about it but not have the balls to actually do something about it. It’s a lot more comfortble to focus on the “trash” on the other side while defending and deflecting for the trash on my side.

Agreed.   The problem is someone gets elected in and no one will seriously primary him/her so there is no choice for that position.   One of the problem with the 2 party system.   No one wants to vote their idiot out because the other idiot is worse than the one we've got already.   That's the calculus.

The parties run who they want.  Even if no one votes for them.   You need zero primary votes to run for president.

I don’t hate your answer but I also think it will never change.

Not trying to be an asshole here as much as that may be how it comes across:

But that’s a lazy, and submissive, thinking answer. A good friend of mine is running for Byron Donald’s’ seat in our district. A good common sense conservative, not a yes man.  You know how he got on the ballot? (I.e. how he’s running)….He decided he wanted to run, he took the necessary steps and garnered the necessary support to get on the ballot, and he’s now working his ass off to gain the necessary support to get the votes needed.  The party didn’t choose him to run. And I wouldn’t not be the slightest bit surprised if he wins.

Rasta you are making my point.   He is having to do double duty to get any traction against the incumbent.   He is not getting party support because they like Byron.  So that's what makes it so difficult to run against an established incumbent.  So hardly anyone tries.   Kudos to your friend.

Walked right past someone running for president with 0 primary votes.   I didn’t make this point.   Killing Bernie (in the race) to get Hillary to run.

You pretend fighting the party machines is not a huuuugggggeee uphill battle.

why would one fight term limits like you do.   Mitch McConnell is a vegetable.  He may run again.  Career politicians are by far the most corrupt post politicians out there.   They are the machine that makes it impossible to change the machine.

you know.  All politicians and politics are trash.   Especially career ones

I don’t fight term limits at all.  Why have the extreme thinking that having one opinion automatically means I’m against another opinion.  My point is WE control term limits with our vote. But we as the majority take the easy way out, you acknowledged it yourself by saying executing the change is an uphill battle. Of course it’s an uphill battle…so, since it’s difficult let’s not take it on, easier to sit back and complain.

And yes, I see where you state all politicians are trash from time to time.  But your consistent behavior (posting) here does not square with that at all.

Do the difficult thing, or do the easy thing.  It’s really just a choice. A choice that each individual, and only each individual, has control over for themselves.

We the people, and for the snow master that does not mean the VP in this case, have the power to send the best people.   We have abdicated that to the parties to pick the person they want and we rubber stamp that.   In theory, term limits is not needed.   But they laid one on the President after FDR got elected 4 times and someone thought that was not a good idea.   That was a Constitutional amendment.   The same would have to happen for the Congress.   That will never happen.   So it is up to us, not the VP, to get this done in each of our districts.  But the way it usually goes is that everyone else's rep is an idiot, but my guy is great.  So that's another issue.

1.  We really  need to vote in new people,  Senate every 12 years, and House every 6 years.   If everyone did that, the makeup of the Congress would remain similar, but if I vote for the D rather than the R to make that happen, and the other guy that was supposed to vote for the R instead of the D doesn't, then this doesnn't work.   Primaries are the only real check we have on the incumbent.

2.  The "my guy is better than any of those other guys" mentality.

These are the things needed to be overcome.

It would be more than refreshing to clean house on both sides. They can't all pull a Swalwell. At least Ilhan Omar is almost out of there. I can't imagine the damage she would do if given the same amount of time as McConnell, Biden, Pelosi, etc.

Well, I won’t speak for the rest of “yall”.  But since you used “yall” in response to me, I’ll ask if you can point to where I said that.

Or do you not want to take the time and effort.

I don’t want to take the time or effort.   It’s a meaningless look.  Although I do think you have said it or approached it with some amount of nuance

Nope.  In fact, in posts like I wrote just above, I've even acknowledged you occasionally throw in the "all politicians....." but that's not your consistent behavior.  You're consistent behavior is a very very narrow focus.   That doesn't require a research wing for all to see.

But thanks for playin.
