Let me get this straight, PSU fans want us to believe that no one thought Nagao, coming off a 5th place finish at NCAAs, would get into PSU's room with 3 years eligibility and never contend for a title because no one cares enough to find a link?

Have some faith in your coaches guys.  Its pretty reasonable to think PSU could turn a freshman 5th placer into a title contender after RBY graduated.  He beat Mendez for 5th place the year before and Nagao would of been the 4th highest returning AA the next season.

Either you guys think Tom Ryan is better at developing talent than Cael or you are remember Nagao with hindsight and claiming he is a nice room guy but was never a title contender.

Let's get back to the Jacori Teemer Award.

One criteria has to be the hyped up fan base (and common sense applies it to the current year). By that count nobody leads the race because neither Figs, Nasir or Nagao are doing anything to lead anyone in there right mind to think they can win it. Aside from that, Nagao isn't even a current year transfer.

LOL. Consider the folks you're dealing with...

Great match.   It's almost fair to say that despite the drama until the very end that Iowa State dominated.  They won decisively at 285, 133, 141, 157, and 197 (5 matches), and they pulled off a (6th win) big upset at 174.   They also only lost very narrowly at three weights: 125, 149, and 184.

Iowa (a team with 5 "mercenaries" including Peterson, Bailey, Williams, Caliendo, Endene) only showed clear superiority at one weight: 165.

And it appeared as if Iowa chose not to shake hands at the end of the match.

That’s literally one of the Iowa coaches shaking dressers hands in this video…. The caption is wrong though

Are you sure?  Looked too tall to be an Iowa coach.  😉

Sure!

I hope to see him win multiple NCAA titles... Luckily he's chosen a pretty good place to hone those skills and a coaching staff with a half decent track record of guiding guys to NCAA titles.

Quick Google search, not even the full-tilt stuff from Twitter and the other message boards:

  • I was hoping he would. This kid will win a National Championship at PSU. Great news!
  • With this happening they have the potential to have 8 in the finals. Based solely on this year's positions. 8 that were in the top 5 of their weight classes

https://www.facebook.com/collegian/posts/breaking-former-minnesota-wrestler-aaron-nagao-committed-to-penn-state-on-tuesda/678372094298168/

The decision to enter the transfer portal all came down to Nagao’s goals - and they’re big. "I want to be a 3-time national champion, I want to win the Olympics, and win worlds."... along with scoring 14 points at the 2023 NCAA tournament, Nagao is currently ranked #3 in our “Way Too Early” NCAA rankings and will be the main contender to take out the likes of Vito Arujau and Daton Fix next season.

Nagao fits nicely into that same 133-pound lineup spot now that Bravo-Young has graduated. Nagao has the kind of slickness Penn State fans were used to from their champion lightweight, and the former Minnesota wrestler has the skills necessary to become an individual champ for his new team.

After that season [at Minnesota], he transferred to Penn State, where he’ll look to become a two-time All-American– and win his first national championship... Nagao’s goal is to be a three-time national champ, and less than two months after last year’s national championships, he decided he wanted to succeed RBY at 133 and transfer to Penn State.

Nagao: If I can't start here, then how am I going to win a national title?

"Glorify God".

PSU has some great wrestling, and a great coach, but they sure attract a lot of religious whackos, don't they? Plus it's right there in black and white, apparently Nagao couldn't "glorify God" in Minnesota, only at PSU (LOLOLOL!!).  My opinion, when guys claim "all glory to Gawd", is they are really glorifying THEMSELVES and saying "see how righteous I am"?  Do I get a gold star now? Am I on the good boy list?

Just ONCE I'd like to see an athlete mock them all by saying something like "All glory to Cthulhu!"

The title reads Coaches, not Coach. Coaches as in plural. More than 1. Math is hard.

I can’t help the camera angle boss.  It’s all the broadcast showed.  Besides.  It was implied all did not.  While in fact at least one did.

the title of the thread is cyhawk.

my post says.  Quote “It’s literally a video of an Iowa coach shaking dressers hand.”

Math is not that hard.

Iowa State owned that dual, and Dresser F'd up, he gave them 3 starting Paniro. I will take any bet now, IF, IF Frost goes and he sees Block, he beats Block. That was such a bad match up for Paniro: I am going Frost next opportunity. Gaitan was the shock of the dual for me, I would have taken Kennedy every time. I was shocked by Evan's shape, because Ayala has a pace.... I guess Dresser letting Evan have time to get down to weight, paid off in spades. Poulin and Peterson could go either way....One thing that I am starting to question, Can Ferrari bonus anyone? Is he just a 1-2 point winner no matter who he has? Dean is decent, I think he was 10th going in, but I thought that would be a 5-6, maybe even a major for Ferrari.

+++ Just read that big Frost was sick, and he will be going to Vegas. I don't see how Paniro sees the mat again, unless Frost gets hurt.

*** Can anyone find Pyles Cyhawk predictions on Flo? I went to look at them, because he is so f'g bad at his predictions and I wanted to see just how bad it was. I know two of his "locks" were Kennedy and Ayala, but I cannot see who else he predicted.

Iowa didn't shake hands, which shows what kind of class you are dealing with. you got your ass kicked, shake hands and move on. Speaking of shaking hands. My kids were wrestling in some national duals and there were 3 iowa commits, and they wanted to shake hands with their left hands, and we were told that is the best way to disrespect a kid, if he is dumb enough to shake your left hand??? I never thought much about it, until right now. Fact? or made up urban legend?

No one from UI shook an ISU guys hand?

I watched it live. Dresser smiling, camera on him the whole time, he walks across the mat, and he looks around and kinda laughs and shrugs his shoulders and turns around. Iowa state team proceeds to shake each others hands and pat on the backs.

Not necessarily, but in places with more advanced sanitation practices and/or availability of clean, running water, less thought goes into it.

Think about it: if you don't have the ability to wash your hands after taking a dump, and you want to avoid the possibility to contracting or spreading dysentery (among other diseases), and you also want to be able to eat and greet people, you likely become more aware of which hand has potentially touched your posterior and which hand you want making contact with your food.

I race bicycles as a hobby and I'm ambidextrous.  Over the years, waiting at start lines, I'd look down to see which foot was clipped in, which you would assume is their dominant foot (right about 80%).  I would try to break some of the start stress by asking the question?  So, do you guys that start with your right foot wipe your ass with your right hand?  I get some strange looks, but there is always some that will reply, "I guess I never thought about it!"

thanks brother, I guess it was better than I thought. I watched the video, but cant find it now. He said he started with this locks of favorites in his opinion. I think Drake was first and Kennedy was his second lock. But, whatever, my hate for Pyles is effecting my judgement....lol

After a report came years ago indicating a large % of Americans do not wash their hands after dropping a douce and then the Covid scare I only shake hands with a select few close friends nowadays.

It's better than I though too......I swore I saw something that he picked Poulin but I guess I was wrong.
