Kind of my point.  Doesn't make it acceptable, just wanting to point out that we're holding Snyder to a much loftier standard than the guys making $75 million.

For the record I don't hold Kyle Snyder to any standard whatsoever.

I just wish the headline would have read "Nittany Lion wrestler... instead of former Ohio State"

He hasn't improved one bit and did tOSU dirty by leaving, take the beating under the NLWC banner.

All seriousness, this is bad all around and as a Christian, I was never a fan of his constant Jesus rhetoric when reporters would just ask about basic wrestling.  Looking back now, it almost seems like he was covering for himself in his comments.

Mother's day will never be the same for his wife and I just wish the best for everyone involved.  Gotta really hurt and be hard to sleep.

All that being said, he is an Olympic champion and the amount of work and dedication to do that is something I know not!  I wouldn't be surprised if he takes his moral beating, recovers and turns this into a positive.  If Aaron Brooks is clean, I could see him having some issues with Kyle being at NLWC.

The event happened in Ohio so much of the coverage has been from local media outlets where his tie to tOSU is more relevant.

Seriously?  Not even a Mets fan and I knew of their infamous World Series Plane ride when I was a kid.  Stories about Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Wilt Chamberlain.  Not saying it's right but growing up it seemed glorified and part of the perks of being a pro athlete

I'm surprised that so many people are surprised about this situation.  In my personal experience, the super preachy, in your face religious types are more apt to be using that persona as a cover.

Now every time I see or hear Kyle Snyder's name I won't be able to not think about when Gunny Foley said "Whore Chaser" when he was thrashing Mayo and talking about his dad.

I am not advocating for it, or saying that is is okay...

Curious why the superstars of the NBA, NFL, etc. get hall passes when they're not home and Snyder does not.

I know we hold Snyder above all others insofar as reproach goes, and that might be why, but it is commonplace for superstars of other major leagues to philander about.

It is because A) He got arrested ordering a prostitute B) He is an Olympic gold medalist C) The face of FCA wrestling and D) Proclaims the image of the clean Christian guy that every mother would want their daughter to date.

This is the wrestling version of if Peyton Manning or Steph Curry got picked up for prostitution.

I would be completely shocked if Aaron Brooks or Kennedy Blades was engaging in this type of behavior.

so now he gets a pass because without Christianity he could be worse?

man some of yalls takes are wild

Who's giving him a pass? You think he's going to be seen at the same level ever again. You want your mistakes publicized.   and yes there are a lot of things a lot worse. Tell me He's done no good things in his past and now has no good in him.  yes lets guillotine him for this!

I wouldn't, but that's probably because I don't know them personally.

For those against Christianity or on the fence, this is not an indictment against it.  What he did is wrong regardless of your religious beliefs.  You are insincere if you say Christianity is not good because an openly Christian person sinned.  Its wrong.  He has to deal with the consequences.  And it is up to his family to accept him or not.  Has nothing to do with us.

In the state I'm from this sort of thing isn't even a crime. He just picked the wrong state for his extracurricular activities. I personally think it should be legal, but that's for another forum.

Brucey, what's up with the clown emoji you bestowed on my post?  Kind of hurt my feelings

I took it back, but it was a very "slippery slope" statement. I think this whole thread has largely gotten off track by debating if it's morally acceptable to solicit an illegal prostitute based on the chances that the prostitute was being trafficked.

Personally, legal or not, if someone told me one of their regular activities was to pay strangers to come satisfy them, I would think they were a scumbag. If they did this while they were married with kids, I would think of them as a terrible person, and an even bigger scumbag. If legal, I'll respect your right to do it, but just because something legal doesn't mean it's reputable behavior.

The bible certainly has enough of murder, incest, rape and pedophilia to be its own indictment against the religion..but i guess thats a topic for a different discussion isnt it?

This is a strawman argument. Who is holding these $75M other athletes to lesser standards?   If anyone one of them got busted in a prostitution sting, they would all face similar online backlash, especially on message boards like this one.

Yeah, even if it was just regular old adultery, he’s still a hypocrite.

Don't you think calling Kyle Snyder scum is a bit too far?  Is every heroin or meth addict scum?  They're major contributors to violence and murder.  You can even apply the same reasoning to people who have bought marijuana illegally.

Snyder is an immoral hypocrite that just embarrassed himself and his family.  He is apparently at rock bottom.  I hope he gets help. He needs it.
