1. LL can't give up an early TD because Lee is so good on top

2.  Keep getting to those angles on single legs, which LL did during the US Open

3.  Consult Ono, who was able to slow down and stop Lee

4. LL has a better gas tank and the odds go up the longer the match goes on, especially into the second period, where Lee often fades because of the weight cut and his muscle mass

5.  Work with Gilman on the above, who is also familiar with Lee

Barring any undisclosed injury we're not aware of Spencer should cruise to 2 victories over Luke at this stage albeit I think it'll be closer than people expect

Luke has great ankle picks and Lee has shown susceptibilities to that attack, ie Bresser, Rivera, and Marco Freaking Vespa who rode in on his scooter and ankle picked and nearly cradled to pin Lee.

Also, Lee is not the skinny little kid he was in College. he's one bad weight cut or injury away from making this a scary match.

Overall though I think I'd give Luke a 20% right now

Also, best of three means that if Lilledahl does take a match then the next time around he gets to take on a very, VERY pissed off Spencer Lee. Not to mention that TnT are not afraid to distract the ref while DeSanto hits Lilledahl over the head with a folding chair. They saw Carl's chair antics in 2017 and they will absolutely turn it up to 11 if it means Hawkeye victory. The deck is stacked against the future of 57 this time around.

I hear Spencer's Mom wears contacts now...so...she could take out an eyeball in a hasty act, but...I suspect she'd stop at one.

The last time they wrestled was December 2023 so I do think Luke is much better but it was 11-0 in 1minutes 26 seconds. Its hard to gauge from this US open field how luke stacks up against serious senior level medal threats. Spencer has 3 decisions in competitions where you would assume he peaked for in the last 2 years so even for Luke to go 6 minutes I think you could extrapolate that he is on that level. It is absolutely insane that there is a world that 3 sub 20 year olds have a better than 0 chance of making the team those being Luke,Jax,PJ. Bassett losing to Stanich puts a damper on expectations for him but none of the 65kg guys overly impressed me and Valencia who Bassett beat 3 times last year was right there to beat Mckenna.

At this point I doubt Lee has ever been healthy since his Junior year of high school.

He’s obviously next level, but the olympics really made me think his injuries are starting to catch up with him.  That was the first time I’ve seen him look legitimately tired of wrestling.
