I think Lamer beats Van Ness and Kerk beats Parris

Let's make it interesting.  If either if is right on both, that person gets to choose the avatar of the other foe the next month. If it splits then nothing happens

Fair bet. I accept

It’ll be interesting to see how PSU comes out of this stretch, which was likely their hardest ~10 days they’ll have all year. Specifically, younger guys who aren’t going to be used to that workload. Facundo, SVN, and Haines.

I expect the three upper weight NCs to kill their opponents, regardless of workload the last two weeks. Freshness could be a factor at HWT, but, they might have pushed Kerk a bit less with such a high quality opponent right after the big stretch of hard practices.

I'll take Haines, Kerkvliet, but I think Lamer has a good shot vs Van Ness.

That'd be my prediction, BUT...I think Michigan has a punchers chance here.

Medley was pretty impressive vs Barnett. I could see 6 here. Pretty much gonna need 6 to get the win.
133-Just too much to ask of Ragusin 6-3
141-Mattin is certainly capable of keeping it to a decision(potential upset, but I love how Barnett's been Wrestling). So 6-6 at this point.

149-Lamer is another guy who's not afraid to pull the trigger. I can see him pulling this out. 9-6 UM
157-Lewan is the favorite, I'm just bullish on Haines, but that'd make it 12-6.
165-Amine is a stud...just doesn't get bonus. 15-6
174-Starocci this is where it gets a little ugly. I could see Starocci getting the tech if PSU they're in danger of losing(even if they're not). But I'll go with the Maj 15-10
184-Brooks another one where I could see Brooks coming out and getting bonus points, but Finesilver's tough. 15-13
197-Yatooma is the type of guy Dean seems to have close matches with. ~7-2. 15-16
HWT-Parris is obviously capable of sealing this for Michigan...if things go about as well as possible. 18-16.

18-16 best case for UM...IMO.
29-7 best case for PSU

Could be one helluva duel. Being at home though, it'll be a huge task for UM to knock off PSU(obviously).

Should have a better idea where Haines stands after this match.

Michigan's best chance is if this is Penn State train through week and the home team all looks tired. Then UM wins all the toss ups.

Wrestlestat has RBY winning by 2, I will take the over on that. They also have Parris reversing last year's results and beating Kerkvliet. Mason has been wrestling well and maybe he gets the job done. 149 thru 165 are all great matches. Looking forward to this one.

Van Ness beats Lamer easily. Surprised so many picking Lamer.

interested in Kerk vs Parris. Kerk coming off injury when Parris beat him 2 yrs ago. Kerk dominated Parris last year but some say Parris was never healthy last year. Should be a great match.

I will say this. If Facundo doesn’t beat Amine, then I don’t see any chance Facundo gets on podium this year. It’s a tough weight and IMO, Amine is the weakest of the top 8 this year.

Can Haines beat Lewan?  Gonna be interesting to see if Haines can find his offense against a positionally tough opponent that doesn’t take many chances..I see a 1 point win one way or another. Hoping I’m wrong and Haines puts it on him.

125–Medly 4-0

133 RBY 4-4

141 Bartlett 4-7

149 Van Ness 4-10

157 Haines 4-13

165 Amine 7-13

174 Statocci 7-18

184 Brooks 7-22

197 Dean 7-28

285 Kerk 7-31 PSU

Van Ness and Lamer are both relatively unproven at this point in time. Both were top 10 recruits coming out of high school. Van Ness's best win to date was a dominating performance over Quinn Kinner. Lamer's best win to date was a tech fall of Realbuto. This match will be a good measuring stick for both guys. Lamer is a wild man who certainly is not afraid to let it fly so it should be a fun match.

And Van Ness really doesn't let it fly very much, but tends to handfight a lot and be positionally sound.  Clash of styles?

Guess you haven't watched Van Ness much.  He comes forward constantly and consistently attacking off his hand fight.  Does he convert at a high rate against top tier opponents?  Not so far, but I see that changing as time goes on.  You're categorization of Van Ness makes it sound like he sits there like Lewan..not the case

You must be a PSU fan!  Not a huge number of committed shots from him.  Not talking about half shots.  Was it one or two committed shots vs. a very tired and possibly hurt Gomez?  He needed points and didn't really get after it.

My point was answering his question and giving him context.  What didn't you understand?

I have no idea what " Wasn't close to 100% all year and still AA'ed" has anything to do with it.

Kerk seems to be the only one who always gets mentioned as not 100%!  No one is ever 100%.  You do realize that Parris had a neck injury last year?

I don't know who will win tonight, but it will likely be the best indication that we have had yet as to whom is better "healthy."

What a fun dual with many contested matches!   Is it clear that Haines will get the start?  Bearclaw?

Kerk has been mercurial and this will be interesting to see if he is at a new level.  Nothing will surprise me in that match - hope they let it fly!

Hoping Haines gets his signature win of the year but I think Lewan scores on counters with those heavy hips.
