Don't tread on first amendment rights. That is all. I could have sworn that Bob Dole and his party ran on the platform of free speech, small government, and pro-community. Launching nukes ain't right unless I missed something over the last few hours between world powers.

i am an idiot on the internet

What is this in response to bnw? I think the mods here are really very tolerant of freedom of speech in this forum, probably the most I’ve seen anywhere.

freedom of speech protects you from the government coming after you if you speak out against them...it doesnt mean you can say whatever you want whenever you want wherever you want

U.S. Constitution protects from government intereference with speech (particularly strong protection for political speech) and does not apply to private parties restricting speech for various reasons.  A fair number of exceptions like reasonable time, place, and manner - so not an unlimited constitutional protection.

There is a related freedom of speech that is a cultural norm in this country - but it is not a statutory or common law right that can be legally enforced.

I think he's complaining because Willie once stated that he was a "free speech absolutist" and then, well, we discovered that was not the case.

If we're banning things, I nominate banning all AI-generated content including images and answers/summaries

I get why some people want to ban AI-generated images, answers, and summaries. There are concerns about misinformation, copyright issues, and the impact on jobs. Some worry AI might replace human creativity or spread false information if not used responsibly.

On the other hand, AI can be a powerful tool that enhances creativity, accessibility, and efficiency. It helps people summarize complex topics, generate art for fun or inspiration, and assist in research. The key is using it responsibly—making sure AI-generated content is labeled, fact-checked, and used ethically.

What’s your take on it? Do you think AI is more of a help or a threat?

Maybe we could hold a raffle or something.

We could raffle off my sister.  She'd provide a lot of warmth in a upper Midwest winter or tons (literally) of shade in the summer.

Sounds like something an AI Bot would say to convince us all he's one of us. The first steps in a larger plan at global domination.

You're not fooling me Okozach...Or should I call you...Blackwell?

Who wants to tell him we're doing this without AI?

Seriously though, my take on AI is...it's could be the greatest invention in human history, eclipsed only by harnessing fusion...which would create free and 100% clean energy for all of mankind! But...ask Tim Ogle what happens when you mess with big oils money?

Oh...and since it really doesn't matter, I've invested a...good sum of money into AI. I'm gonna at least live good until the T-2 takes over and I turn to dust holding onto a metal fence!

Betting on the wrong horse my friend. Sarah already went back and wiped them out. Now it's Nvidia who is taking the lead...and Jensen Huang is the new Miles Bennett Dyson!
