I found the BTN broadcast to be overly draw out.   Should they hold the 3rd and 5th place matches before the finals?   It feels like the finals broadcast could be a better product if you don't have to wait until the 3rd and 5th places matches are completed to move to the next weight and the crowd is yelling at odd times if you are only a TV viewer.

I have attended 2 B1G Championships and also don't like it as an attendee.    The Sunday morning session is just consi semis before a long break until finals.  Then your attention is split when you would like to focus on just the finals matches.

With TV ratings being important for the sport, should BTN try to make the finals a better product?

Big 12 does it the way that you suggesting with a separate round for the finals.

Reforming the challenge & review process would go a long way. There was one consi match in particular that held things up forever because of the lengthy review. The finals would also be much more interesting if a decent chunk of it wasn't a bunch of officials looking at tape over and over again.

Taking three hours to decided 10 winners is bruuuuuuutal bad TV. And pretty bad in person.

Sitting there we kept commenting to each other how the B1G set up makes for such bad TV that you will never capture more than the diehards.

So no one thinks they should have 15 minutes of commercials between each match, 10 is enough?  🙄

Agree finals should be separated from the 3rd/5th matches.  It also detracted from those matches too.  I like the multiview in the earlier rounds but that was not an option for finals

They were on multi-view on Big Ten+....I had that on my computer/monitor.....finals on my smart TV.

And another thing: why did they have a 6'4'' guy interviewing the winners, and making even Gable look tiny? Perfect job for Shane Sparks! Or the guy that used to do the interviews.

I've said this before regarding NCAA finals. 10 matches in a 3 1/2 to 4 hour broadcast is rough.

I was joking with my wife about this. He was bending over to talk to Starocci even. 😂

Yeah I would have liked to see finals with commentary plus multiview of 3rd/5th on same screen

Just noting that it wasn't like the interviewer looked tall next to a 125 pounder, he comically towered over everyone.

I had the 3/5th matches on the app on multi mat mode.

the format does suck and 3/5 matches should be in the am sequence

If wikipedia is to be trusted..  Starocci is 5'11". I was able to find the interview with Gable quicker than Starocci so see below. The interviewer has to be at least 6'7".

Gable claims 6'1"

The semi-finals are a way better round to watch than the finals, both on TV and at the tournament.

The TV delays and podium stuff, and especially any review or blood delay make it take so long for just 10 matches.

The energy in the arena is also just dead in the single match finals. I agree that they should not hold the finals for the place matches, but I like having them there. Sometimes I want to watch a different match.

I was thinking the same thing.  So funny, some of the lightweights are barely over 5'0".
