Wrestlestat has OSU 18-12 but they have Askey losing to Sasso and Gallagher beating Sparks, which I think could be flipped. It’ll be a very close and exciting dual

Posted

125 Flynn over Mccrone 3-0
133 Bouzakis over Wells 3-3
141 Mendez over Vombaur 3-6
149 Demilio major Roberts 3-10
157 Askey over Sasso 6-10
165 Sparks over Gallagher 9-10
174 Kharchla major Whiting 9-14
184 McEnelly over Rogotzke 13-14 this match will be crazy
197 Salazar over Shumate 16-14
285 Gable major Feldman 19-14

Ohio state could certainly flip 125, 157 or 165 though. This is kind of best case scenario for gophers.

This is an especially interesting dual given how close these two teams are in expected points at the NCAA tournament. They are both on the short list for the fourth, and final, podium spot.

Minnesota is obviously quite good this year. They'd be average by B10 standards if not for Steveson coming back. They have several guys who will probably AA this year. I think they will finish higher than OSU at NCAAs.

My take:

125: Flynn by Dec 3-0

133: Bouzakis by Dec 3-3

141: Mendez by MD 7-3

149: DDE by Dec 10-3

157: Askey by Dec 10-6

165: Sparks by Dec 10-9

174: Kharcala by Dec 13-9

184: McEnelly by Dec 13-12

197: Salazar by MD 16-13

285: Gable by TF 21-13 Gophers Final Score

This should be a good one. OSU needs a 13-point lead going into 184 to feel safe, IMO. If they have anything less, the Gophers will take it.

If they flip one they win.

I personally find Ohio State one of the more difficult teams to predict in a B1G dual.

Outside of Mendez and Kharchla, it's hard to gauge which version of a wrestler you're going to see. I might be selling D'Emilio a bit short with that statement, but I see everyone else as being 50/50 to lose focus for a moment and find themselves having to rally from a two-takedown+ deficit.

Flynn dec McCrone 3-0

Bouzakis dec Wells 3-3

Mendez maj VV 3-7

D’Emelio dec Roberts 3-10

Askey dec Sasso 6-10

Sparks dec Paddy 9-10

Kharchla maj Whiting 9-14

McEnelly dec RR 12-14

Salazar dec Shumate 15-14

Gable maj Feldman 19-14

i could see 133, 165, and even 197 flipping. Minnesota has been wrestling their backup a bit at 125 so idk about Flynn’s health. Rogotzke has had close matches with McEnelly in the past so you never know

Davino only one listed at 133 for OSU

Cannon/Sasso and Gallagher/Herman listed.

Minnesota has starter and backup listed for 125, 149, 165, 184 and HWT

ohio state boards are saying nic busted his lip open and had stitches so Davino is getting the start

side note, Cannon at 57 may get a win over Askey. I like his odds better than Sammy's.

I got the Gophers in this one unless McCrone and/or Gallagher can come thru for the Bucks (and they can limit the bonus).

Was Davino unattached at Midlands?

I thought as a first semester fresthman, all tournaments had to be wrestled attached?  I could have gotten that wrong.  Also depends on when the semester technically ended for tOSU since the Midlands were end of December

Yeah I’m confused on which semester Midlands and Soldier Salute counted as.

The rule is 5 dates right?

Davino has:

-Clarion Open

-ISU Dual

-UNC dual

-Iowa dual

So have to think Midlands didn’t count and this will be his 5th date?

ISU and UNC were the same date so I think that counts as 1
