"Forbidden terms" is so straight out of a communist country like Russia, NK, or China that I find it difficult to wrap my head around the fact that it is in the US and coming from the Trump administration.

I have visions of black vans driving around picking offenders up in the middle of the night, never to be seen again. That is routinely done in the aforementioned communist countries.

Which is even more crazy because ICE already does exactly that in the US - without legitimate due process, and with little pushback from citizens.

We're coming up on Super Bowl LIX soon - we'll have maybe a couple hundred million tuning in and watching.

But the purposeful erosion of freedom in America? All we'll hear is crickets.

Also to be forbidden, “obesity.” We should make a list of some of the best over the years.

This website is from the UK.

”Simon Goddek” is a hack btw.

You preferred it when:

Commonly used terms such as “manpower,” “you guys,” “ladies and gentlemen,” “mother/father,” “son/daughter” and “husband/wife” should be avoided, according to the State Department chief, and replaced with words like, “labor force,” “everyone,” “folks,” “you all,” “parent,” “child,” “spouse” or partner” instead.”

You struggle with the difference between "should be avoided" and "banned".

I was wondering the same thing. Is this one of the planks of Project 2025 that Trump said he knew nothing about?

Yup.

Posted

Trump has overlapping personnel that contributed to project 2025, and this section on vocabulary is an implicit extension of Trump's formally declared Agenda 47 agenda.

Recall that Agenda 47 says

Quote

Republicans Will End Left-wing Gender Insanity We will keep men out of women’s sports, ban Taxpayer funding for sex change surgeries, and stop Taxpayer-funded Schools from promoting gender transition, reverse Biden’s radical rewrite of Title IX Education Regulations, and restore protections for women and girls.

AND

Quote

Knowledge and Skills, Not CRT and Gender Indoctrination Republicans will ensure children are taught fundamentals like Reading, History, Science, and Math, not Leftwing propaganda. We will defund schools that engage in inappropriate political indoctrination of our children using Federal Taxpayer Dollars

Trump explicitly disagreed with parts of project 2025.  Abortion was the big topic of disagreement, with Trump advocating for arguments at the state level rather than Federal level.

So you are going to see parts but not all of project 2025 included.

Your concern is important but misplaced. Controlling the language in federal government documents doesn't amount to the public suppression you see in authoritarian countries like Russia, North Korea, or China, where people might literally vanish for speaking out.

Comparing ICE's policing of criminal aliens against policing government document word choice is inaccurate.

There’s a chill inside CDC, according to the staffer, though they concede it’s entirely possible that some staffers agree with the changes. Most people, however, seem on edge.

“I feel like already there’s a lot of self-censorship,” said the CDC employee. “I feel like this will have effects beyond any specific memo. People are really walking on eggshells about what they say.”

THIS IS EXACTLY HOW it felt to the silent majority from 2015 to 2021.

Yes you will. He's already started doing things he said he wouldn't do and instead of pretending he'd never heard of Project 2025 it's now his playbook.

I think a lot of people like you support him because you don't want to admit you fell for the lies of a career con man who is now a convicted felon.

I am against the way a person feels when they self-censor to maintain public peace.

It is super necessary to maintain peace.

But you're wrong. It is accurate.

"Forbidden terms" is, indeed, a level of censorship. And this is exactly the type of thing that is getting people laid off and fired from federal work at this very moment.

You can argue that "it doesn't rise to the same level" as other countries - but that is dependent on your perspective and personal opinion, as well as the pre-existing conditions prior to this censorship change. It's all relative, and there is no concrete comparison between what we are seeing in the US vs other countries.

One other mistake you made.

ICE is well known for detaining (and worse) US citizens. As they are known for detaining (and worse) non-criminal aliens.

Your claim that ICE is only policing "criminal aliens" is 100% inaccurate.

Of course, you’ll have to qualify.  It’s not like they let just anyone in.

1. Skilled Migrant Category Visa

This visa is ideal for skilled workers whose talents are in demand in New Zealand. It works on a points system that considers your age, qualifications, work experience, and job offer in New Zealand.

Key Details:

  • You must be under 55 years of age.
  • English proficiency and good health are mandatory.
  • A minimum of 160 points is required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

If your EOI is selected, you’ll receive an invitation to apply for residency.

2. Work to Residence Visa

This visa is a good option if you want to work in New Zealand before applying for permanent residency. It is for people with job offers from accredited employers or individuals with exceptional talent in their field.

Key Details:

  • You must work for two years under this visa.
  • After this period, you can apply for residency under the Residence from Work category.

3. Entrepreneur Work Visa

Do you have a great business idea? The Entrepreneur Work Visa allows you to start or purchase a business in New Zealand.

Key Details:

  • You must have at least NZD $100,000 to invest in your business.
  • You’ll need to submit a detailed business plan showing how your business will benefit New Zealand.
  • After running your business successfully for two years, you can apply for permanent residency.

4. Investor Visa

If you have significant funds, the Investor Visa is a pathway to residency.

Key Details:

  • Investor 1 Visa: Requires an investment of NZD $10 million over three years.
  • Investor 2 Visa: Requires an investment of NZD $3 million over four years and includes age and language requirements.

5. Student Visa

If you’re planning to study in New Zealand, the Student Visa is for you. It allows you to live in New Zealand while pursuing your education and may even offer pathways to residency after graduation.

Is this written on that statue resting on the coast of New Zealand that also reads “Give me your tired, your poor. Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuge of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempted tossed to me, I shine my lamp beside the Golden Door!”

The answer is no, because that statue doesn’t exist in New Zealand.  A different country built on different values. Not to mention the size of New Zealand doesn’t fully stretch even the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Great comparison though.

Looks like updates to CDC’s public death reporting system may have been halted.  If Dems did this the right would probably be screaming that Dems were now planning to kill them or something.
