There you have it. Clerical error.

I wonder if it happened when they were updating Arnold's weight.

It still begs the question, is Arnold going down to 174? If so, I would be very curious to know if it was the coaching staff's idea, or if Gabe just feels that he could perform better at 174.

To hear Arnold's dad describe it, Arnold will leave that decision to Brands.

I think it was the reluctant decision of the coaching staff. They waited till they knew that Ferrari was their best guy at 184, at which point their hands were tied.

I mean, it depends on the definition of "hands were tied." The subject has be talked about ad nauseum, and we all know the arguments for and against pulling the RS. The only scenario I see where their hands would be tied is if Ferrari was threatening to leave if they didn't let him compete for the spot. I just don't see the coaches choosing to pull his RS for a slight upgrade. FWIW I think Kennedy could very will be a top 5-6 guy in his own right at 174 this season.

The transfer rules really do give the athletes all of the power in RS/etc decisions because if they don't get what they want, they can just transfer to somewhere that will give it to them.

I think their hands would be pretty well tied if Ferrari was beating arnold, and arnold was openly saying he wants to go down. They could have claimed they were doing what best for the team without those details.

Has anyone done the math on can he do that and how long would it take?

Arnold to 174 really doesn’t make much sense to me on several levels:

1.  Didn’t he claim he spent the offseason bulking up?-

2. Didn’t Ferrari say he’d do whatever coach Tom Brands wants him to do?  Highly doubt he’d burn Ferrari’s redshirt and have Arnold drop to 174 where he already has 2 AA caliber guys including his nephew.  Although I suppose it’s possible that comment from  Ferrari was not actually true and he told Brands he wants to wrestle

3.  Yes, I get guys want to try to beat the best, but does anyone outside of the Ferrari family actually think he can win 184 this year?  He’s blowing whatever chance he had of becoming a 4xer if he wrestles this year

Maybe it runs in the family.  AJ blew his 5x chance.  Whats a few wasted titles amongst Ferrari?

I'm sure he certified there, not sure how long it would take to get him down...

Maybe he doesn’t want to spend more time in school and just wants to get started wrestling.

If he weighed 184 at Soldier Salute then it takes 26 days. Which would get him there  for the OSU dual. Assuming he doesn't weigh in at 184 again.
