The red / green anklets are stupid, especially at a dual. What other common sport we watch does not have home and away uniforms?

Judo?

Is there really a problem here?  Let's say blue is wrestling yellow, does the ref put the blue arm band on his right or left wrist?  How does that muscle memory work when the ref has black band on right and orange on left?

Yes there is a problem. When watching a tournament either from TV or in person, it is hard to see their anklets. Red / green muscle memory is not different than H / A

H & A?

You can't see the wrestlers names and color on the score box?  I grew up with black & white tv but ...

Is there anybody on this site that understands a good discussion? This idea has been talked about before. At a dual, we do not need red / green. And for those who don't understand, H / A is no different than red / green. And manyy teams already have alternate singlets. So, don't be ignorant and think out of that little box you are in.

Do you really want the ref to focus on who is the Home team in every match?  We already have too many homers.

Not quite the scope of the thread, but I was taught a while ago to specifically avoid red or green as far as colors for diagrams or text in PowerPoints in case an audience member was red/green colorblind. Not really the best response, but I have not posted in a while.

I like this idea. We already do something similar in freestyle with the red and blue singlets. Wrestling could take the approach of most college football teams and wear their school's primary colored singles while the away team wears a primarily white singlet with a trim of their primary colors. It would get tricky in tournaments but could be solved with something like the higher seeded guy always wearing his team's home singlet.

Great. Officials can get 20 different colors of wristbands now.

They will end up being like the "draw kit".

Referee:  Coach are you ready to draw?

Home Coach: Nah, we'll just start at 25, I already spoke to the visiting coach.

Visiting Coach: Hey man, we're gonna start at 125. We agree.

Referee: Cool. Then he gets out his red and green wristbands.

LET'S WRESTLE!

Just use the red and green arm bands to represent home and away or go to black(dark) and white(gray after a day) for home and away. Football can do it with jerseys and the guys kind of like putting on their gear and preparing to battle. Not that  hard even for average intelligence like myself to figure out. Actually dont know to many college level events where people running the score board need to know the color of the arm band to know who scored.

It would not be hard to implement. For instance, PSU could have white tops and blue bottoms for away and all blue for home. Iowa could do the same thing. It would be pretty clear who is H versus A. I also like your idea of higher seed is H in a tournament.

And the wrist bands are?

I'm red-green colorblind. As a coach, I would always have to ask my asst who got the points when there was a lot of rollin' around. For the differently-abled, I see the advantage of home and away. Either that or a change to red and blue.

I am also red-green color blind.  I always had to let my opponent go to the inner circle first after looking dumb the first few times going to the wrong side. Not sure how singlets would work out in tournaments but for dual meets the football approach would be great.
