157 Kasak - Taylor, Nebraska and Teemer, Iowa

174 Haines - O'Tool, Missouri

Who I think will be undefeated going into NCAAs

165 - Mesenbrink

184 - Starocci

HWT - Kerk

You don't think Steveson can beat Kerk?  Yes I'd disagree with that one.

I think we see Mesenbrink and Starocci go into NCAA's undefeated. SVN and Haines have a decent shot of going undefeated as well.

Unfortunately, I could easily see

LL
SVN
Kasak
MM
Haines
Cstar

I will hedge and say one of LL,Kasak,Haines lose but honestly, I would bet on Kasak and Haines going undefeated with the odds of haines/o toole not wrestling or Haines simply winning being much higher imo than Keegan winning. I also think Kasak is just going to out health all the top guys this year. SVN and Henson are in tiers of their own at 149 to me I dont see anyone else moving into that tier, perhaps thats putting the cart in front of the horse with SVN a bit given sample size. I am by no means a PSU fan I pretty actively cheer against them, but I think this is one of if not the best teams ever that they currently have.

Hard to say that Henson is in a different tier than Ridge when they just went to OT.

LL will have Volk (possibly, Volk was out at CKLV), Surtin, Caleb Smith, Dean Peterson, McCrone as top 20 guys in the dual season. Will add Matt Ramos, Cooper Flynn and Nicolar Rivera into the mix at B1G's. I suspect we see him drop a match somewhere in there.

SVN will have Ridge, Parco, D'Emilio, Webster as top 20 guys in the dual season. SVN will have some tough tests, particularly Parco and Ridge. Same guys to deal with at B1G's.

Kasak will have Antrell, Teemer (possibly), Saldate, Miller, Gallagher as top 20 guys in the dual season. I think Kasak drops one somewhere in this mix. Will have Blaze, Askey and Chumbley in the mix at B1G's.

Haines will have KOT. If he beats KOT, he likely goes undefeated. Will also have Kharchla, Brands/PK, Pinto, Braunagel as other top 20 guys in the dual season. Hard to see him losing to anyone outside of KOT and Hamiti.

Van Ness looks better than he ever has looked. I would make him a significant favorite over Parco.

As good as O Toole is, Haines beat him 6-0 in free and knowing Haines abilities in folk I make him a solid favorite even over O Toole.

My guess:

LL drops a close one or two along the way but is number 1 guy in country going into NCAAs

Bartlett drops at least one of the Mendez/Hardy matches

Kasak drops one of his dual/b10 matches along the way

Barr drops one to one of the top 197s

Kerk loses to Gable at B10s

Undefeated going into NCAAs.

SVN

Mess

Haines

I don't think anyone is a solid favorite over O'Toole in folkstyle. I know we all fall into the trap of looking at freestyle results when trying to predict folk matches, but it just doesn't translate cleanly.

Especially in the case of Funky 2.0.

My question is...what are the odds that PSU runs a backup against Mizzou at the duals? I also had to look at PSU's schedule...I'm surprised they don't dual Minny during the season. A lot of other B1G schools on their schedule...

I am not being sarcastic here, so I hope it doesn't come off that way. But I don't think PSU typically ducks matches. Not many instances come to mind. Am I wrong on that?

Particularly on the backside of a tournament in freestyle. In that same tournament KOT beat David Carr 9-4 on the frontside of the bracket and David Carr beat Haines 8-2 on the backside of the bracket.

There are many on these boards who think the other teams' wrestlers never get sick and never get injured, so every missed match is a duck.

Fair point. I'm not here to say one way or the other. But I was just referring to KC's question about what the odds are that PSU run's a backup out there against KOT. They may do that, but it won't be because of a duck in my opinion.

Here is a simple way I determine, without fail, who is ducking an opponent and who isn't. There are only two steps.

1. Does the guy wrestle for my favorite team? If yes, he's not ducking. He's sick.

2. Does he wrestle for Iowa? If yes, he's the duckiest ducker that ever ducked. He should wrestle for Oregon if he's so scared.

The Big Ten Dual schedules are different to say the least. Sometimes you will have a dual against a league member and it not be an official conference dual.

I would be surprised if Haines did not go out against O'Toole. With schedule that they wrestle there is no load management reasons for guys not to go. I really look forward to the match.
