For example, a hypothetical — say I don’t want Starocci to win #5.

Can I commit to pay $20k to any wrestler that legally beats Starocci in a championship bracket match at NCAAs?  Maybe I crowd source the $20k.

And the wrestler can knowingly and publicly take the money?

Or does it have to be something a bit masked?  Like announcing that if a wrestler accomplish’s this, I will give a $20k NIL deal to that wrestler.

Come on, I’m serious!!  😁

supposed could change it … and say any D1 college basketball player who first scores 60 points in a game next season will get $10k.  Or come up with some other achievement.  Is that fair cash to the player?  No rules broken?

No idea but hunch is that it’s legal for you to offer but less legal for someone to accept it. Also with no binding contract you wouldn’t actually have to pay anybody.

$10,000 to the first man who brings me Aaron Brooks' Bible!

And you think that’s funny? Aaron is the man and I bet he would donate his own bible for your 10K only to distribute it to those who need it more than him. The hard working wrestling community needs more support, much more support from those with the connections. You obviously are connected to no one of importance. Pinned much in school?

I think it's funny you fell for his fake modesty routine ("I didn't win, Jesus did it for me!").

Current NIL rules forbid performance incentives. But since everything the NCAA touches in court turns up a loser, maybe you do it anyway, then when the NCAA tries to enforce the rule you sue.

The NCAA hasn't been enforcing any rules related to wrestling programs for the last 15+ years.  Why would we expect a change now?

OP legit makes it look like he wants to pay someone to take someone out at the knees with that thread title.

It should be something more along the lines of "Can I pay someone incentives for achieving specific results?"
