Tallmadge is coming from a service academy, so he has a redshirt available I think?  I imagine they utilize that.

Wrestlestat has 2023 listed as his redshirt at the navy prep school, last season he was listed as an injured RS Freshman so I don’t think he can sit ..maybe Babin didn’t have many options bc I believe he’s a grad student, either way seems Pitts first 3 weight classes will be all NJ guys

Navy Prep is a gap or greyshirt year- not redshirt.

After the Olympics, no? If not where are their Olympian women going to be training?

Yes, just meant like the process to close the doors has begun.

Danny Nini of Lake Highland Prep in Florida, and more recently, the University of North Carolina is now an ILLINI. You can take him off the board. This shores up the final spot in the ILLINOIS lineup, the one at 157. Now, Logan Swaw can take his redshirt while Braeden Scoles can eat, pump iron and fill out to 165.

An explanation for the image below: Nini wrestled up a weight against Haines two years ago in the UNC/PSU dual and lost by a very respectable 1-4 score. That same year, he wrestled in four other duals at 149 for UNC with ILLINI Assistant Coach Austin O'Connor wrestling right after him at 157.

He went 4-5 this season and had losses to: Murphy Menke (Oregon State), Chittum, Ed Scott (15-3 score), Askey, and Jonathan Ley (Navy; 12-2 score). Not sure I'd consider this as "shoring up a hole".

Since Vic Voinovich didn't really see the mat much this year, are we expecting for Iowa to hold on to him? It's probably for the better for him to leave depending on what Parco does.

I would think the Iowa and Voinovich relationship is still pretty good considering the younger one committed there in February, but I guess things could have gone south since then.

At this point they need to move him up to 157. He just doesn't have a really good shot.

Part of the game.

Don't like it, you are welcome to watch softball or basketball or some other sport where they play with balls rather than have them.  Get tougher.

Did i say I didn't like it? Someone felt the need to compensate for something.

He's solid on defense, but I don't see him as a starter on a top team right now.  He could be a star of a smaller MAC program though.

What's the latest on Rylan Rogers @nhs67

From what I am hearing on the ground is he is homesick, but it isn't a guarantee he even leaves (think Slav).  Homesick, to me, tells me Oregon State or somewhere with friends, such as Cal Poly or Purdue.  I also think I had read somewhere that both ASU and North Carolina were considerations too, but I haven't heard any of that first hand.

As long as he succeeds wherever ge goes, I am happy for him.

I feel like you should have to forfeit any scholarship money from the prior year if you transfer immediately after a redshirt (Mesenbrink for example).    IIRC Alirez may not have even been enrolled so probably not applicable in his case but just made me think of it.

I do think we will see smaller schools redshirt guys less to make sure they get the years out of them while they can.

Yep.  you can and will wrestle as a TF at smaller schools.  Cant bank in keeping them so you may as well use them.

This is incorrect.

They bought 30% of the team and then only used 20% of the team.

Don't exaggerate for the sake of trying to make a point on a wrestling forum when there are people much better at that game than you on said forum.

Much better than me at what game? What does this even mean lmao
