1) Yes. We can't even take care of our own people. and guess who the migrants are going to have the most effect on? not the well-to-do. they are going to hurt the Americans who need the most help.

how this is lost on you f'ing dunces is beyond me.

2) define suffering.

3) that's not even the point of that post. you don't find the irony / contradiction between those two statements

Funny how you answered the question before asking what I meant by it. Seems like you don't care that much.

But, gang violence, poor economies that we helped to cripple through decades of horrible 'diplomatic' practices(that means we over threw their governments so that Dole could sell cheap bananas and Starbucks could have cheap coffee).

This is our reckoning. We caused most of this and now we are punishing the people that are taking the brunt of it. We are going to suffer and by that I mean regress back to the mean(average). Rebalancing is something that needs to happen from time to time. Ask the Bolsheviks.

Thank you for name calling first tho.

Demonstrably not true.

Your Democratically provided and more affordable health care must be fantastic. True only that 45 follows 44.

Republicans don't want to fix it because it takes away one of the few things they can run on.

FDR saved the country from the great depression when conservatives would've sunk us further into it.

Ya it is fun and I still right.

Check out FDR's folly

On May 6, 1939, Henry Morgenthau, Roosevelt’s treasury secretary, confirmed the total failure of the New Deal to stop the Great Depression: “We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong...somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises....I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started....And an enormous debt to boot!"

So you're ok with people suffering and turning them away without understanding even a little bit of the circumstances that brought them there?

Yes. Next question.

You searched for a stat that confirms your assumption and found in on the internet? That's surprising.

What were your search terms if you don't mind me asking? Any links that I could check?

Come on. You're a really smart guy. I'm sure if you made just a little effort you could find what you are looking for.

You might want to do a little research on FDR saved the country. JRoss put a link for you.

You quoted someone who wound up being wrong. What does that prove?

Is this how you converse with people face to face? Of course you're going to say yes so you can deflect.

Ok, change of plan.

If someone made a statement of fact that you disagreed with and sited a statistic but refused to tell you where that stat came from. Would you think that person is honest or interested in the topic of conversation? And if it happened multiple times on multiple topics would that person have all the hallmarks of a troll that is not worthy of your time or consideration?

I guess those questions are rhetorical.

Didn't take long for you to lose your patience and resort to dishonest tactics. I'll be honest. Took longer than I thought. Well done.

You are a funny guy. I am so thankful in my lifetime that I have only run into a few people like you. You seem to be very argumentative. I good number of posters on here are still reasonable even though we may disagree. You on the other hand seem to take great pleasure in toxic conversation. Good luck.

Federal law allows for legal immigration.   It specifically does not support illegal immigration.   The American people feel the same.   https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/06/21/americans-remain-critical-of-governments-handling-of-situation-at-us-mexico-border/

A chart showing that just 23% of Americans say government is doing a good job at U.S.-Mexico border.

Illegal immigration is an unwanted surplus of immigration not planned for, not wanted, not legal.   It is an abrogation of the Presdent's oath of office to uphold the Constitution and faithfully discharge the duties of the office.   The President, by allowing such absolute violation of our immigration laws and by stopping steps by border states to do something about it is a dereliction of duty.   He should and could be impeached for this.   And should have been, except the Ds want the country overrun with illegal immigrants for some reason.   Ds will not allow a conviction for such an apparent dereliction of duty.   Ds in Chicago and NYC and Martha's Vineyard do not feel the same way now that they are experiencing the wonderful joys of housing and taking care of such people.   Their citizens are also not happy that their tax money is going to these illegal aliens rather than going to the citizens as is the social compact of living in a city.

It is unjust to the citizens of the country to spend their money taking care of people who have entered the country illegally under false pretenses.

The Supreme Court did not rule that Texas, or any other state, cannot erect razor wires.  I see razor wires, barriers, fences, etc  all over the place that my state has erected.    Therefore, Texas is defying nothing.  Simply putting back what someone else defaced.  I think the Supreme Court ruled simply that Texas Rangers cannot throw federal personnel who remove state erected barriers in jail if they are acting on behalf of the federal government.  Now, the question becomes can federal law enforcement personnel throw Texas officials in jail for erecting barriers?  That is a very interesting question.

i wonder how barriers around Indian reservations, state parks, national parks, governors' mansions, jails, etc are handled by this ruling.

the truly enlightened know that their home countries are the way they are largely because of america. we created this situation ourselves.

This enlightening is very illuminating.  By this logic the Indians caused Europe to suck so they deserved what they got when all the Europeans showed up.  England, France, Germany, Sweden, Italy, etc. have all caused North Africa and Arab muslim nations to suck so they deserve what they are getting.

Mongolia sucked due to farming peoples to their west so the Mongol invasions of the steppe regions were earned by the farmers there.

Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and other states with net in-migration are causing California, New York, and Illinois to suck so they deserve all the misery of un-assimilated cross state invaders also.

We literally have Republican Senators on the record telling us they're not allowed to do anything on the border because Trump wants it to run on it.  That's where the Republican Party is on this issue.

This, of course, is NOT the logic at all, because the indigenous people who lived here before we got here didn't even really know Europe existed nor did they take a hand in geopolitics or take a hand in destabilizing the regions in question.

How were his facts wrong?

Here is another source.  New Deal or Raw Deal?: How FDR's Economic Legacy Has Damaged America

WW2 lifted the USA out of the depression, not the New Deal.

Senate Banking Committee "Did the New Deal, as has sometimes been charged, exacerbate and extend the Great Depression? Hardly. The regulatory state provided protections that benefited all Americans. The administration could have treated business interests better, but they were often responsible themselves for the antagonism 6 that persisted throughout the 1930s. Fiscal policy would certainly have worked better had it been better understood. The fact that we were slow to embrace Keynesian theory is one of the disappointments of the decade."

Could it have been handled better? Of course. Had anything like this happened before in the history of the world? Debatable. Was it a failure? Nope.

If Trump is somehow successfully killing deals that would allow 5000 illegal entrants daily... Bless him.

Enforce the existing law or GTFO.

That SBC link is self-defeating to your statement.  It was not meant to address the Depression in a systematic way... success I guess because it didn't.

Quote

But the New Deal was never a coherent, interconnected effort to deal with the various dimensions of the Depression in a systematic way.

The SBC link mentions security by putting people to work.  Note that unemployment was higher after 8 years than before the New Deal was started.  Oops.

Quote

The New Deal restored a sense of security as it put people back to work.

It's foolish to say nothing good came from the New Deal...which nobody is saying... while it's ignorant to claim the New Deal saved the country from the Great Depression.
