can't wait to see how Nicky New Hair does...I think he beats Lee

I will definitely be rooting for him as well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the same side (1/4 seeds).

Random 65kg thoughts-

I don't think Pantaleo will have a gas tank down at 65. And that is the IOC's fault not his. It's a shame really.

Gross should qualify but I wonder if he crash cuts down to 57 if he doesn't. He just doesn't pass the eye test for a legit 65kg body which, again, is the IOCs fault and not his.

I want to see McKenna/DeSanto very bad. I could see it as a very calculated technical thrashing finished in 4 minutes or a huge upset and neither result would surprise me.

Are they straight up using the PIN formula 1-2-3, etc?

Because Lightning Luke still gets the 1 seed...

Click in current PIN ratings...

This is batshit...

Lilledahl (17) , Pierson Manville (19), and Kannon Webster (23) all ranked in the top 23 seems a wee bit absurd.

Mason Parris is ranked 22nd while Steveson is 9 and Gwiz is 13.

ETA and Gilman is 5th despite never showing up and not making the world team.

Make it make sense USAW...

65 KG is also interesting and deep AF.  Mind you, I am human and might have messed up a bit here.  I am okay with that.

Its hard to bet against McKenna, but for my money its hard to pick against Alirez.
The only knock on PantsLayLow is the potential cut, otherwise he's right there with McKenna, I hope he shows up in A+ form

Lugo I think is the biggest landmine among the guys who have no shot at winning it. He can upset anybody, but he can also lose to anyone.

I never give Bartlett enough credit....

Frank kind of took it to him.   Even after giving him a chance to adjust which McKenna did not take.

I was in Italy a few months back and I swear I saw Chamizo there at a bus stop.   I did not stop to say hi, but I swear it was him.

Assuming no PIN seeding system, does Lee get the 1 seed at 57kg and create a (most likely) Nico vs Suriano semi? Or does the Open back in April where Lee forfeited out against Suriano make Lee the 2 and Nick the 1?

Not sure.  Lee should be penalized for that - my opinion.

Make Lee #4 and Suriano #1, that should get it done.  Perfect semi!!  That would penalize Lee for last time and still make a pretty good semi.

It is a travesty that the Brawnie twins are one weight class apart in MGR and in NCAA D1 wrestling they are three.

Wild how wide their weights range(d) for 86 KG gents.

It goes to show that folks don't stop growing in college, necessarily.

Okay so Suriano gets second at the US Open last season and doesn't get seeded.

DeSanto gets 2nd at US Open and 4th overall at Final X last season at 61, bumps up a weight and gets third at Farrell gets seeded 6

Now let's look at 97:

Jacob Warner just took 2nd at Farrell gets seeded 4th.

Cassioppi has never made this weight and gets the 3 seed. *ETA he went 0-1 at senior Last Chance last year at 125.

How? Why? Is it the previous U23 title? Because if so then what about the recent international success of Suriano, DeSanto, Gross at the superior senior level and why don't their seeds correlate? It doesn't matter at the senior level because you either show up or you don't but this place is my soapbox and I'm not here for it.

Yeah, that's definitely the reason all these folks are crammed into the 86kg class. Not because we need at least two more weight classes so the tweaners have an appropriate weight class.
