it's too bad the iranian guys aren't in this forum like the old one. this thread would be on fire 😂

Yes, I remember one of them had a full on melt down last year after Taylor surprisingly won 7  - 1.  It's a shame that thread and many others are lost forever, lol.

But it's not a troll question on my part. Does anyone give Cherati have a chance? Maybe due to Taylor's age?

Yazdani and Taylor are evenly matched, and Yazdani can win on any given night.

Let’s not forget that Yazdani is an Olympic champ and 3x world champ (and 8x world-level medalist) — and he has world class coaches and training facilities.

Would you say the same type of thing regarding Snyder facing Saduleev?

Sadulaev is the favorite against Snyder but I think Snyder absolutely has a chance. Yazdani, meanwhile, is clearly a dangerous opponent for Taylor and can win on any given night.

Aye, I agree that there is no perceivable gap between The Greatest and The Magic Man.

There is between Captain and Tank.

Taylor/Yazdani is a 60/40.  It's close enough that either is off their game, the other will win.  When both are at their best, Taylor wins.

Sadulaev/Snyder is more like 85/15.  Sadulaev needs to be very underprepared or significantly hampered for Snyder to win.

I completely agree, but let’s not forget that Snyder is an Olympic champ and 3x world champ (and 8x world-level medalist) — and he has world class coaches and training facilities.

And so does the Tank.

If Sad is at top level, no one beats him.   If Snyder is at top level and Sad is slightly lower, Sad wins most of the time.   I think Sad would have to be unprepared as Steam said for Snyder to win, or Sad would have to make an unrecoverable mistake.   What would be cool is if Snyder could figure out a weakness and exploit it to pin the Tank like what happened to him some time ago.

That's right. Snyder is unbelievable. But Sadulaev is arguably the greatest freestyler of all time.

Captain's weakness is his flat back.  He is elite and generational enough that it rarely gets exposed.

Tank's weakness is that he is smaller than Captain.  That weakness doesn't matter to Tank and he Chuck Norris's through it with ease.

I would take him at 125 KG as well.

I am actually surprised they have not considered having him go up with what has been their lack of results there for some time now.  They have depth at 97 KG to bring home medals, even a Gold with the right draw or a bad match by Captain (think Sharifov).

I was actually quoting what was said about Yazdani a few posts above.  It is amazing that both Snyder and Yaz have almost the exact stat lines, but are one rival/competitor away from being considered all-time greats.

BTW... have you seen the Tank lately?  Very thicc.  Not sure he is smaller anymore.

Add a 'C' to that, bud. Thiccc.

Even frame-wise he is smaller, though.  I didn't just mean weight-wise.

I think this a good question.

Firstly, majority of the Iranians on the old board held Yazdsni as an underdog.  One of them was quite "unique" in the way he posted.

Yazdani definitely is the underdog as Taylor has convincingly proved himself the better of the two.   Not being a Taylor fan, this fact irritates meto no end.    I feel Yazdani can win with strategy.  His cardio is not up to Taylor's, so he needs to find a way to stall and manage the matches.  Additionally, Taylor is older so he might slow down a bit.

Either way it is a match to look forward to.

The question is when does Taylor start to decline. He’s 32 to Yaz’s 28.

Crazy how little the best of the best actually compete. DT probably wrestled 100 matches as an 8 year old but as the best in the world he barely competes.

NLWC has these guys on a limited schedule for a reason. Cael knows that if DT comes in un-injured and in shape, he will stomp everyone not named Yazdani.

The biggest thing for a 32 year old wrestler is managing wear and tear. I’d bet that Taylor is on the mat 3x a week, max, for much of the year. I know he does a LOT of cycling, both indoor and outdoors, for fitness. He builds a huge aerobic base doing a non-wrestling activity and then builds wrestling-specific fitness in a relatively short ramp-up prior to big events.

Snyder not usually on a limited schedule.  I think it is determined individually.  NLWC probably determines activity level based on the consensus of a number of people including the coaches, the athlete, "the treigning lab," and possibly Cael's "witch doctor."

Too bad we separated, quality guys.

Unfortunately they were preemptive in trying to find a new home.  Brain did good by us here and we trusted that.  That said, the Irani-gents were a bit more aggressive in finding a new home and had found that place weeks in advance.

By the time this one was flowing, they were set.
