Well, that it is.

That is a direct result of the growth in money supply tied to various covid related stimulus programs pushed by both parties.

And regulation driving up the costs of production and COVID driven shutdowns driving many small businesses to close and supply chain disruptions.  Money supply is a part of the problem but only a part of it.

Maybe, but it's lowered considerably since 2021.

Of course, if one stays in a media bubble, that little nuisance fact will be news to one.

Current inflation doesn't help those who still make the same money as they did in 2021.   In fact it is worse on them because the prices just keep rising with inflation and they have to choose and do without as a result.

The fact that inflation is slowing down is good, but the overall effect on prices won't be reversed.   $5.41 for diesel around here.   That's up almost a dollar since January.   Of course we now in WA  have a cap and trade tax on carbon fuel types so we now have the highest gas/diesel prices in the country.   Now it is taking effect on the natural gas prices and the state won't let the local utility provide a line item on the bill to explain that.   Another example of open government.

Everyone is rich now, many home values have gone up 50% to 100%, if you owned a $500k home it could now be worth $1M ... wait ... not everyone owns a house   🤔   nevermind.

And the $1M house you now own, if you want to sell it... you will have to take your proceeds to buy another $1M+ home and it will come with a higher interest rate and more debt.

In my childhood years, we had newspapers to read the news. And news stations to watch on TV. Credible sources spreading credible information. The position of editor either on print or on TV was a position of respect - and, more importantly, it was one of responsibility. If an editor was wrong, it was very serious. Career killing serious.

Now it's just some random guy posting some random stuff. Then another random guy linking the random stuff.

When are we going to wake up and realize we're going downhill?

News used to be just presenting information and not an opinion piece. Everything now is an opinion piece.

Except you're missing the most important point.

News used to be presenting information that had been vetted and verified. Being critical of sources in order to provide correct news was extremely important. If you wanted to continue to have a career in News - it was critical that you could document your sources and trust only the highest quality sources.

If you're OK with random people posting random links to random sites and selling them to us as actual news... then you're not alone. One of you is born every minute.

The real problem is that the further we go down this road, the more difficult it will be to get back to any scenario where News can become legitimate and trustworthy again.

It has zero to do with political sides. If you don't see what we're in the process of losing, then ... I can only ask that you look again.

News organizations today will go out of business if they don't purposefully publish outright lies.

Fake news has been around since the beginning and the orange man woke up half the country to it in the 2010s.  It is not okay for news organizations like CNN and Fox News to lie and something ought to be done about it.  This is a major issue, unlike the random guy posting random stuff.
