Saw that one on the way as soon as they scored that first exchange a stepout.  Nowhere else in the entire tournament has that been a stepout.

Hate to say it, but hidlay and his coaches should have smelled that one.  No action calls, just standing in the middle, setting him up to lose on any score by the russian in the final minute.

That was reminiscent of the 90's.

I think his toe was in when he initiated the chest wrap although there was another stutter step in there.  Very close. But how the hell does Trent get put on the clock when he initiated all the action and the Russian literally didn’t take an attack?  It wasn’t like Trent wasn’t battling for center.

I don’t care about the call, that’s horrible match tactics from Trent. He shoots late, gets stuffed, then continues to drive him toward the edge knowing the only thing he can do is chest wrap, and it’s HIS THING. The only thing he has. I just don’t get diving in there, and being so set on pressuring in instead of looking for a stalemate. Not only is that bad scouting report, but he almost got teched BY THE SAME DUDE LAST YEAR strictly off chest wraps man. You just CANNOT do that there.

North Korean bronze refusing to stand next to Lee for pics.  Physically moves Russia to be next to Lee.

Probably under pain of significant punishment. "Man move over, you know what happens to my parents if he puts his arm around me?"

Tis fitting that they would end the World tournament @ 74Kg between Sheriev/Russia & Kaipanov /KAZAKHSTAN

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Spectacular showing from Lee. No wrestling the past 16 weeks. He genuinely looked like he finally found his inner peace and knows what the latest tear may very well mean. If that's it then god speed he is mentally as tough as they get for everything he has battled and kept coming back for more.

I don’t see any way he doesn’t go through 2028

I hope so

Here's a more full transcript that says more of what I meant. Self-awareness and maturity you just don't typically see from Hawkeyes until they go elsewhere. What a BAMF.

It appears that USA has clinched it 194 to Russia @ 185 and Iran w/ 133...

USA medal count (going G-S-B) 5-1-3     Russia 3-2-4     & Iran 2-1-3

Top three teams won all the gold medals!
