and I'm not saying that cause I'm down on bassett. I don't think anyone of equal size on earth can tech a healthy stanich in folk.

I was reaching but I do think he could possibly major him, I think bassett will only get better and widen the gap.

Didn't Stanich beat him the last two times they wrestled? Or did Bo get one since? I ask because I didn't think it was Bassett's gap to widen. Also don't be so sure Bassett is poised for rapid improvement, he's not much younger and has probably had similar training opportunities if not better.

Three out of four, I think?

Stanich, Stanich, Bo, Stanich?

Do you follow Bo's career at all? It's actually remarkable how much better he is now than he was 1 year ago. Going into WTT in 2025 he was considered an underdog against Bartlett and managed a strange 1-0 win when Bartlett thought he had the lead. Bo is very much improved from a year ago.

I believe that Stanich is also making gains of his own, but that sentiment about Bassett just doesn't follow what the results are showing over the past 18 months.

I actually don't follow him that closely, i do however know that he's not gonna rapidly improve forever. He's one of the best on earth already, if I was being argumentative about it I'd be asking when you decided he was going to be the best wrestler who ever lived. I'd be fine with it if he did continue improving, again the comment was also made in reference to stanich, as if he was some weathered veteran in comparison.

So if you were being argumentative you would make a strawman of words that I never said?

You said that you'd be hesitant to believe he was poised for rapid improvement. All that I said was that the results in the past year would suggest that he's on a trajectory of rapid improvement. You're the one who made a claim, I just said that your claim seems incorrect based on what we are currently watching.

The only prediction that I have ever made about Bo's future was towards Wrestlingrash (before I knew better), and that was that Bo would AA more than 2 times. Never an NCAA title, never a World title, and certainly not an Olympic title. I have simply watched him progress and have continually to be impressed by how much better he seems to be getting each and every year.

Don't forget, last year most people were suggesting that Melvin Miller was the real prize of winning the Bo Bassett sweepstakes.

I didnt read the last page or two, so apologies if somebody said something similar. But, the situation reminds me of what Robideau said after he lost to Larkin: my goal was never to win Big XII; my goal was always to win NCAAs.

Maybe Bassett's focus and training were always about peaking this tournament.

Is he going to be a 74kg guy eventually? He may want to make that move after 2028. It seems as though a lot of the foreign wrestlers do a much better job at going up weight classes than our guys do. I have no idea if he is going to grow more or is pulling decent weight to go 65 many more years. Look at guys like Dake and Burroughs, 74 was perfect for them and then they became grown ass men and it wasn't anymore. Seems like might also be an issue with guys like Forrest, Lilledahl, etc.

But for today and tomorrow lets enjoy the run this kid is having, WOW!

I think Bo answered this question. No, he isn't wrestling too much. Hope he gets the gold tomorrow.

I never said it would effect his performance now, just the longevity of his career. So this does not disprove the point I am making. The body can only take so much wear and tear.

I also hope he gets gold tomorrow, I am a big fan.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

How many of those matches were competitive? Less than 10?

Guess we can’t even include the senior world semifinals in this number…

Just enjoy wrestling.  Bassett is kinda annoying imo. But that was makes him good.  He doesn't care.

His wrestling is one of the best we have seen at his age.  I don't see him losing this wt for a while unless he is hurt.
