Seidel is going to fall into the "best to never win a title" group, isn't he?

He's a stud who picked the worst time to be born.

hmmm…seems a bit premature to write off a true freshman who has an outrageous training partner coming into the room next season don’t you think?

Nope.

Jax, Blaze, Davino, Bassett, Bouzakis, Mendoza.

Thats the immediate hit list around his weight. This is not Seidel slander, this is "holy crap this crop is amazing" propaganda and doesn't even include anyone older than a freshman.

Add Lilledahl if he ever moves up, and he's not displacing the above Bassett. So yeah, bad timing.

Seidel already has wins over Forrest and blaze tbf

I really hate saying this, but I think Spencer Lee's time of being a world medalist threat is over.  It seems that guys in lower weights, for many reasons, pass their peaks at younger ages, and that definitely seems to be happening with Spencer. Ongoing knee issues and now apparently an elbow injury?

He also seems to be a very limited wrestler with little variety in his attacks.  It used to not matterI think Lilledahl wins Final X 2 matches to none.

Keep in mind that what Lilledahl did to Lee's elbow is legal and taught at high levels, but is pretty brutal.  When Jon Jones does a similar technique in MMA, people call for it to be banned and call him a dirty.  Tore Glover Texeira's labrum with it.  When Baylor Fernandes was doing it at Northern Colorado, people called for his head- and got it.

Not surprising that it caused some damage.

If you can't handle me at my Baylor Fernandes then you don't deserve me at my Dave Schultz

But in all seriousness, freestyle allows for some major brutality if the ref follows the rule book. Kids these days don't have a clue that freestyle used to mean "free to do whatever as long as your handkerchief stays in the singlet"

Yeah, I get it.  I'm just saying that if his elbow hurts, I'm not surprised.  I would prob do the same thing in Lilledahl's position.

Actually just watched it again and remembered it being worse.  Looked like LL was just doing a crotch pry and the elbow torqued unintentionally.  Same effect as Jon Jone/Baylor Fernandes, but less intent and less violence.  I'm now pretty sure that Luke was just wrestling through the position and not trying to do this: The best clinch fighting of all time. : r/ufc

come on...

anyone who actually thinks Lilledahl was intentionally trying to injure spencer in that sequence needs to be immediately shushed and sent to bed without their dinner...

I didn't see anything malicious from LL. World class wrestlers are tough and matches hurt. But I didn't think he was dirty like Merril throwing headbutts or Woods attempting a kimura

He's literally only lost to Jax.  In fact since 2023, he has only lost to Jax, a 3-2 tight match with Knox at WNO, and a 5-2 match to Deluca as a Junior at Beast of the East.  He shut down Blaze, and frankly has had extremely close matches with Jax. They never seem to allow him to wrestle Davino.  Bouzakis does not seem to be a threat in my eyes.  Mendoza had a very up and down Freshman year, whereas Seidel only lost to Jax.  I'm not sure where you'd assume he's not capable of getting on top when there's one wrestler he's had any trouble with all year.

Get out of here.  Results need no context.  If I said he lost because he was young, then you'd be making a point.

But we're talking about subjective opinions on style and aggression.  If someone wants to gripe about the HS kid not shooting at heavyweight, then they've not paying attention to how absurd it is that he is competing in that weight at his age.

Huh?  You mentioned he was a high schooler.  That is irrelevant.

He is a brute of a bull that doesn't need to shoot because of his style.  With the new grounding/pushout rule this year, he can be an effective sumo-style wrestler and win matches he would not have last year (look at his Mirasola matches).

With Seidel not weighing in, he forfeits to Desanto for 3rd.

Desanto will face the loser of Davino - Forrest for True 3rd at Final X.

Edit: Maybe not Final X?  Not sure where.
