it's funny, we talk about privilege and equality

and no one wants to call out the worst of the worst

limousine liberals... (someone came up with a better term, but i forget) who talk a good game.. but are among the most privileged and do what they please when the peasants have to do what they are told.

not to mention the policies of said virtue signalers keep the poor dependent.

I wonder if some of you could name some of these people...

im sure some will say Trump, but he isn't a virtue signaler as privilege goes.

Some white males are weak.   Some are dumb.  Some with rich parents are dumb.  Some with poor parents are smart.  They are not oppressed.

Black and brown don’t have a monopoly on lazy / weak / or dumb.

You literally said they were!!  You want to give others (non-white males and all females) "a boost".  What do you think the "boost" is at the expense of??

Oppression and discrimination are terrible no matter who it is against.  You can't "fix" the oppression and discrimination that happened in the past by repeating the exact same thing but just to a different group regardless if they were the oppressors and discriminators in the past.  If you don't believe that they all you do is continue to make the same mistake and have learned NOTHING about history.

You seem to keep to try to push this idea as if anyone is repeatedly making this claim.

No, giving people “a boost” to attempt to catch up to those that were given a head start is not discrimination.

It really can go both ways, policy can be enacted where everyone has the same opportunity at, let's say a job or career for example.   That's the sprit if affirmative action and there is nothing wrong with that.  It has went the other way with how DEI has/had been enacted, where it's not everyone has an equal opportunity for the 'job', but that groups are more equally represented and that is more a priority over skills and qualifications.   There is something wrong with that.

How far does this go?  A couple has children over ~15 years.  When the first child was born the parents were establishing careers and scrimping to save a down payment on a house.  Last child is born after they’ve moved into a nice house in a better neighborhood with better schools and parents make more money and so he gets nicer Christmas and birthday presents.  Does little brother owe?

Very valid.  I have five children ages 29-18.  And it's not just about the nicer presents, but more individual time and attention.  Definitely wouldn't say the youngest owes the oldest anything.  Both born into different situations, but doesn't at all mean one has less opportunity to succeed than the other.....biggest factor is what they do with it.

Harrison Bergeron is the only answer to "privilege" as defined by some of our colleagues here.  When the "boost" up fails - inevitably - then the solution is to go to the lowest common denominator.  The whole ideology becomes a death spiral when it butts up against real world situations and can be kept in place only with totalitarian measures.  It really sucks.

People who tolerate me on a daily basis . . . they are the real heroes.

Who bought the wood and built the boxes?  If each guy (or his family) bought the wood and built the box then did the short guy steal the tall guys' box?  Or did the short guy anticipate the situation, build two boxes, and bring them?  The source of the boxes is the issue and who gets to decide who gets boxes.

Show me where I said this.  You have a weird obsession with constantly bringing up.

You said no one was being “oppressed” (that would include white males).  Edit:  I originally wrote “discriminated against,” so I suppose you may quibble over the difference between “discriminated against” and “oppressed”

We see this in the schools now.   There are no more "gifted" classes because that is unfair and discriminatory and racist.   Why racist I have no idea but then again math is racist.   I had no idea that 2+2=4 is a matter of race dynamics.   Anyway, no more gifted so all are put in the same class.  Excelling is no longer what is aimed for because there is some poor soul that won't get it.   He/she just won't.   So all students must learn at the same rate as the lowest common denominator.   And therein lies the equity equation that is so wanted.   No more bridge building, no more doctors, no more professors for there will be no one that can think, unless they raise themselves up.   There will be a few that do this and they will be the rulers.

The answer is to get everyone to do the best that they can and all boats are lifted by that tide.

Are short people discriminated against? [yes]  Are they oppressed? [no]

If you can understand why that is true for short people then you can understand why it is true for white males.

Anyone can be treated differently due to their traits rather than merit.  That is discrimination.

Short people, white people, black people, women, poor, etc. are not subordinated by a power system that compounds disadvantages across life in a way that their personal agency cannot override.  They are not oppressed.
