This is Bastida’s 3rd season at heavyweight though.   There was a guy at UNI that started out as a 174 and finished as a heavyweight.

I sucked massive weight to make 150.  Starvation, dehydration, trained multiple times a day. I didn't qualify for nationals as a senior and completely gave up on exercise for 3-4 months.  I ate constantly, and they were not necessarily healthy foods.  I was 190ish within a month.  I was not fat by any stretch of the imagination.  I'm not sure of the mechanism but my muscles seemed to just fill up and not as much was going to fat. (Granted, I was cutting from 170+ every week so a lot was rehydrating)

So, I can see guys who were cutting big weight seeming to blow up overnight with no PED help.

Another question I have is if Yonger and AJ were the same size in 2022, height and body type why couldn't AJ get over 225 and Yonger hits 250? Made the difference in their match!

Because AJ was a 197 last year and Yonger wrestled 285 starting in the 2023-2024 season.

Are they the same height?  I think Yonger may be taller

I don't get why many fans think so many athletes are juiced. Some of the comments in this thread are stupid. Bastida had some pimples on his face at 197! Maybe he just has pimples. Ohio State did poorly because they stopped juicing before the nationals. That is ridiculous. It takes a long time for all the PEDs to clear your system.

Speaking of AJ, is it safe to say his points made the difference for Nebraska between 4th and 3rd place?  Does that make adding him worthwhile?

I'm shocked at the pushback AJ is receiving.  This Forum accuses everyone of being on steroids.  AJ is fighting the good fight for you guys

I assume this is ironic but his giant HGH bubble gut makes me think he's not fighting the good fight

Do they?  Other than guys that actually got caught like Fix & Brooks, I can’t really think of anyone specific recently where there was all that much chatter about it except for Kasak and that was driven by Shapiro’s comments (and yes, I know it’s not for sure that that’s who Shapiro was even referring to).  I do kinda wish Kasak transfers and then some of the wrestling just started in 2010 folks will probably accuse him.

I don’t know that Yonger ever weighed in much higher than 240. Most duals he was 238-240.

Ziola is the bigger guy. No brainer. AJ at 197 Ziola at HWT. Unless they add that 220-235lb wt class that everyone is screaming about but that keeps getting rejected so AJ has a dec to make!

Cade needs to go, perfect 4 year heavy for nebraska, and has a great coach in Tervel, wouldnt be surprised if he's top 5 next year, McDanel is progressing, I think a redshirt would be silly.

THIS.   Ziola is the future at HWT and could finish top 6, which is what AJ just did.

Same for McDanel, he just scored more point than AJ, no need to RS him.

AJ comes with a huge risk because he might MFF at any time. Even at 197, he has to wrestle enough matches to get a seed to stay on the opposite side of the bracket from Barr.   Barr would destroy him and then he his likely to MFF back to 6th with a bruised ego ago.

I defended him first few times. Young. Seems like he learned.

Really no reason to bring that up. Even if you believe it. No reason.

His own worst enemy.

I seen enough.

Factoring in the MFF is on point and appropriate. Did anyone else with a different last name lose a semi and then not wrestle any more?  (That's a rhetorical question, folks.)
