  4. Digital only. Which narrows down the audience to only those foolish enough to play that game. Many people buy these knowing full well they are rug pulls, but believe they can get the timing right themselves and make a quick buck. The site where the coin was traded was even called Pump.fun no one who goes there should have any misgivings about what is happening. That is not to say Askren should have done this. I would not have. But these things happen among a self-selected universe of people who are looking for a get rich quick scheme.
  5. All Sun Belt teams have opted into or rather not opted out of revenue sharing. The VA law limits mandatory student fees to 55% of the athletic budget. JMU was way above that. I think they got on some schedule to come into compliance after joining the Sun Belt Conference. Not sure if that has happened, but if SCORE is a total prohibition then I'm sure they are nowhere near compliance. Large fees to subsidize intercollegiate athletics is more of a Virginia thing than a Sun Belt conference thing. Even some schools without FBS programs do it. Below is a table from of the fee breakdown at VA public schools from a couple years ago. The amount of athletic spending from student fees at UVA and VT are subject to a lower limit of something like 20 or 25%. You're right I was wrong about the deductibility of the mandatory contribution. I suppose the only benefit to not just charging the ticket price would be to juke the the numbers for the revenue share. Of the schools I looked at Wisconsin was unique in that they referred to it as a recommended contribution. I wonder how likely you are to get tickets if you opt out of that recommendation and it the slightly different language would make it deductible.

  8. I was impressed that Erfan was competitive with Yoshida because I think yoshida is the 4th best guy in the world right now.
  9. Are you saying prices in 2025 rose a little bit after they rose by a huge amount the preceding 4 years? Great chart to show the truth of the situation. Notice how the charts pretty much stabilize toward the end. Indictment of Trump for sure. If he is to blame for stabilizing prices, who is to blame for having them rise so much? mspart

  11. I don't know much about him. He won Asian juniors, but we have a long, long list of wrestlers who won junior worlds, let alone junior Asians, around that weight class and went nowhere at the senior level. Many of them even won it dominantly. Azarpira is probably lucky he avoided the curse by never winning junior worlds. It will either be him or Yousefi, I think. Or maybe Hosseini who came second at 71kg at 2023 cadet worlds. He came second to Shamsipour at the junior trials. That is the only somewhat similar name to what is listed that would make sense, but is still a different name.

  13. He’s gonna pardon Joe Biden this time in a freak turn of events. It turns out they’re in cahoots together.
  14. do you think Erfan can challenge Azarpira soon?
  15. I am hoping its Shamispour at 79 as a wrestling fan. As someone who wants america to do really well I hope he is not there though.
  16. Will he pardon Ghislaine Maxwell in exchange for her false testimony to bail him out of his Epstein mess?
  17. You’re being needlessly obtuse. Do you think I’m trying to provide an excuse for her? I’m not. Bill Clinton spearheaded the Democratic turn right on economics that led to a steady 30 year-long decline in performance amongst working class, populist voters that used to vote Dem pretty reliably. Trump’s victory was the culmination of that process and a complete rebuke to the neoliberal wing of the Democratic Party. Sanders’ success in the primary among that same demographic was an early warning sign of what was happening.
  18. I'll just let Trump Jr explain.
  19. Like usual, you don’t follow links and shoot from the hip.
  20. I really like the idea of giving non-revenue sports better funding, but does the EO have any teeth? Congress needs to pass legislation and codify a national NIL/revenue sharing framework. Getting a definitive answer from the NLRB on whether student athletes should be classified by employees, regardless on where you stand on the issue, is also a pretty good way to light a fire under Congress and get something passed.
  21. Same if it was a gun purchase gone bad.
  22. Aw man, I miss ILLINIWrestlingBlog. Jombo would be all over this.
  23. I know he just went through a major medical issue. But immediately put his stamp on a scam. He, seemingly, got paid so those he influences could be grifted. How should the wrestling/MMA world react to this if true? Cuz based on the support from big names in MMA it doesn’t seem like he was hurting for money/support. But should he be given grace if he WAS struggling for money, post surgery?
  24. Wow! Have all the Sun Belt schools opted-in to revenue sharing? ESPN was saying that Fresno State would have to break up the mandatory athletic fee, which I assume is something they already do for internal accounting purposes, and eliminate or reallocate the line items that go towards D1 sports. Sounds like it'll be a pretty big hit to those schools either way, though if the legislation passes. There used to be an 80/20 deduction rule where ticket buyers could deduct 80% of the "athletic contribution fees" on their taxes, but that went away under the first Trump administration. I think the only way they can still be tax-deductible is if there's no direct benefit to the buyer (i.e., doesn't give you priority access to preferential seating). I guess the upside, if it can even be called that, of the mandatory fees at massive D1 schools is that in theory the cost should be diluted across 50k+ or whatever students, but I get the feeling that it just furthers the Big Football/Big Basketball arms race and causes programs to spend more.
  25. ive seen nothing that says it was drug related besides rumors, but you really think if it was that either of the parties involved are going to voluntarily say that it was?? why would Sammy admit it? and why would the thug who shot him admit that? to add more charges for no reason? he wasnt caught right away.
