The official beginning of the death of the NCAA has begun
billyhoyle replied to bnwtwg's topic in College Wrestling
This is obviously terrible for wrestling. Any university that doesn't join the Big10 or SEC will end up with a huge drop in revenue, which will result in the necessary cut of sports. Even rules that have protected the sport like a required minimum number of sponsored sports will likely change as a result of the new financial landscape. -
Online classes at Ohio State University? Sounds like a transfer.

The attacks have been going on for years. Remember the attack on a U.S. military base in response to killing Soleimani? What is your solution?
-
How do you propose doing that? Sending the military into Yemen?

What happens next year for Cornell Seniors?
billyhoyle replied to feet2back's topic in College Wrestling
Those guys are "on" the team but not actually putting up points at NCAAs....Or maybe they are the ones who were on the team before Cornell got really good. The elite guys from the past couple decades are mainly coaching, training for the Olympics, or spouting conspiracy theories on twitter/fox news. Nothing wrong with any of that, and honestly probably a more enjoyable career than working in finance. -
Come on guys...Corniowa is never going to happen unless you can all get along.

I know somebody working at a Children's Hospital in Ohio...In practice it is much more severe than what the law says because of the potential legal and insurance issues. They won't be able to even refer people out of state to get care when it takes effect in April, although they are saying it will likely be held up in the courts (just like it has been in Arkansas). I think the bolded section above re medicaid might be causing a lot of the issues, since they won't be able to treat anybody on medicaid for this.

What did Israel do to violate the Geneva conventions? We celebrated and then made a movie about the U.S. "illegally" entering Pakistan to kill Bin Laden. We accept that the military is allowed to kill members of terrorist organizations-is that such a terrible thing?

Recent influx of Caels and Kaels in wrestling

And Costanza wanted to name his kid after Mickey Mantle. -
I wouldn't say anything if the people above him were also undefeated, but they've taken losses. At a certain point, the people doing the ranking should trust their ability to watch the matches, otherwise, why are there even humans ranking these guys? I'm not saying to put him #1. I'm saying put him #4 above the guys with losses who haven't looked nearly as impressive. Only KO and Carr proved it against world-level competition with similarly impressive results. And of course, I wouldn't say rank him solely based on that, but if you watch his matches, it's so obvious that having him at #7 is a joke.
-
Are we going to ignore that he won junior world’s? This guy isn’t coming out of nowhere and has demonstrated success at a level only matched by KO and Carr. Sure you can’t count that in the criteria, but the margin of victory in his ranked wins along with his undefeated record put him to #4 ranking-wise in my opinion.

Negative Overall Team Points in a Dual

What kind of speech do you give to the locker room after you lose 47 to -1? -
Could a combined Cornell + Iowa squad beat Penn State?
billyhoyle replied to Jimmy Cinnabon's topic in College Wrestling
Corniowa is a great name but redundant. Iowell could also work, but it is an oxymoron. -
I compared him to another great wrestler and multiple-time NCAA champ in RBY. I just think guys like Taylor, Nolf, Ruth, and Starocci were more dominant. I get that "earning" the ranking is how it's done-but I think he has earned it by being utterly dominant on the mat against very strong competition. And yeah, I think he beats Carr. Have you watched Mesenbrink's matches? They are absolutely unreal.
-
I listed Hall next to other NCAA champions, so I do think he lived up to expectations-he had many doubters because of his age/being seemingly undersized. I just think there is a tier above that you can't predict or expect a recruit to be (outside of Lee or Snyder)-MM seems to be in that tier. I said that in wrestling there is a tradition to require people to beat somebody ranked ahead to move ahead-so I get that is how people currently do it. But rankings are inherently subjective. This requirement doesn't exist in any other sport. Without subjectivity, rankings should just be done by an algorithm. It's very easy to see how dominant MM has been and also his results internationally and recognize that he should be in the top 4.
-
As long as they are the top 3 it’s fine with me. All three are elite wrestlers. Having him at 7 at this point doesn’t make sense to me.
-
From what I’ve seen from MM, he is more like Brooks, Starocci, Taylor, Ruth, Nolf than Haines, Mark Hall, RBY. All are great wrestlers but some of the PSU guys are just at a step above in term of dominance.
-
They will do nothing because they can do nothing.

Woke ppl are broke. Have you not followed Elon lately? The people buying those cars are just as likley to be the right wing VC/tech/finance types.
-
I get that there's a tradition in wrestling to not jump up the rankings unless you beat a higher-ranked wrestler, but when will a ranker out there move him to at least #4? If you look at his performance at U20 worlds (one of the best indicators of NCAA success) and his absolute dominance so far this year, does anybody doubt that he should be in the top 4? If it were me, i'd move him to #2. Maybe Carr was rusty early and beats him, but I doubt it.

This is the closest the U.S. has been to going to war with Iran since the nuclear deal. The critics of that deal (mainly the neocons) said it only postponed the inevitable. Were the neocons correct? Tensions are rising now more than any time since, so is war with Iran inevitable? Or should it be avoided regardless of Iran's actions overseas because of the terrible consequences that would occur? Let's try to keep the Biden/trump discussion to a minimum here because this decision could potentially be made either in the rest of Biden's term or a potentially Trump's 2nd term. It will likely be the most significant foreign policy decision since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. My opinion is that I don't really know what we should do. When I see these proxy attacks being carried out, it reminds me exactly of what Bin Laden did prior to 9/11 with his attacks on U.S. Embassies and the USS Cole. If the U.S. had done more leading up to 9/11, the attacks would have been avoided. I also know how terrible the consequences of military intervention would be, and the greatest mistake since Vietnam was the decision to preemptively intervene in Iraq.

If this is true, why are Tesla owners the most annoying car owners on the planet because they never STFU about how obsessed they are with their cars?

https://www.mmanews.com/news/brock-lesnar-implicated-sex-trafficking-lawsuit Like I said, it's not clear whether Lesnar really is accused of doing anything wrong. It sounds like Vince pressured her into sending him explicit content to get him to sign with WWE. Gable isn't involved in this at all-in fact it seems he has next to no involvement with WWE at this point other than them sending him on a goose chase around the country.
