  1. Eh. I see where you’re coming from, but based on his HS resume, I don’t see anything that indicates to me that he’s ready to knock off Ayala, Byrd, Crookham, etc. I think he could stand in there and be competitive. But I’m not ready to say he can beat any of them.
  2. I agree with this a lot. Wouldn't be hard for them to be very competitive, relatively speaking of course.
  3. It could keep some top talent from going to OSU or PSU, though. Which would go a long way in achieving the goal.
  4. "Welcome to the transfer portal...where the rules are made up and eligibility doesn't matter."
  5. A mid-major seems like the next logical stop on his journey.
  6. Which will make it even harder on the walk-on types because now instead of having 40 guys (with 9.9 scholarships), we'll likely have 30 guys (with still probably 9.9ish scholarships). So fewer spots to go around.
  7. I appreciate this. Apologies to @No BS Fan. I misinterpreted the wording of the new format.
  8. If I am wrong about this, someone please correct me. And if that's the case, I apologize in advance @No BS Fan for misunderstanding this whole thing.
  9. If the school opts into revenue sharing, the wrestling program gets 30 scholarships, that is certain. See below blurb from Flo.
  10. Why would a coach, who's JOB IS TO WIN, not use all the resources given to them? They do not care who's paying the school. They care about landing recruits that they feel like can help them win, and if they don't care about landing high level recruits, they are likely going to be fired. In fact, I think it would look terrible in the eyes of the administration if a coach doesn't use all the scholarships given to them. If you leave some scholarships on the table, you better win the team title, otherwise there's more you could have done to win.
  11. Sorry, I just assumed that if a school has 30 scholarships, they will use all of them. But yes, I guess they technically do not have to use all of the resources given to them.
  12. Not that easy or simple anymore. Power 4 teams (and some others) have a 30 man roster cap and each athlete must be on a full scholarship. Most of the one's who are worth something (or have proven they are worth something) will already be picked up. The ones who have limited resumes (haven't proven their worth) will not be able to walk-on to a power 4 school, period because walk-ons no longer exist at the power 4 teams. And for the schools not opted into revenue sharing, they're still battling with the 9.9 scholarship thing. So it's not as easy as just showing up and proving your worth anymore. Coaches literally can't afford to 'take a chance on a kid'.

  14. You say tomato, I say toe-ma-toe.
  15. You're missing out. @H82Lose is the man. My dude!

  17. We know he's not beating Barr, Ferrari, Elam, and Little. I doubt if he's able to beat Novak, Stout, McDanel, or even Merrill, and Shumate.
  18. From a technique standpoint, Spencer Lee was light years ahead of where Bassett is at the same age. Don't kid yourself.
  19. Agree 100%. But I just wanted to point out to Mr. Pastry that Bassett looked good against everyone who has little to no college resume. The only person he wrestled who has a respectable college resume, kind of put it on him. Yes, I know Bassett is still only a junior in HS, but he's got work to do.
  20. Not against Stanich.
