Minnesota needs a 174 bad. Sparks is a shell of what he was 3 years ago, his injuries have been bad. He only qualified because Starocci defaulted
-
Anyways, when the heck are the Minnesota guys hitting the portal? One guy who could have value is Drew Roberts. Ranked in the 15-20 range most of the year, he might get bumped out. Lots of speculation of how long Wells can hold 133 and Vombaur moving to 149 potentially. Roberts is solid on the mat but he doesn’t really have a go to offensive shot from the feet. I think he would struggle against Vombaur and be the odd man out. I also believe Wells grew as he season went on and the cut got harder. 141 might be his best weight. Hunter Lyden had a lot of preseason hype as being the reason Cael Carlson left. Well he never made the lineup.

Exactly, be what you want to be even if it is not real. Big difference between being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender(which are real things)than making up fake genders and pushing that BS agenda and trying to gaslight everyone into joining your fake reality. Basically identical to the religious right telling us to join there fake reality of Sky Daddy telling them what is right and what is wrong and gaslighting everyone to join the churches reality. Same exact type of people who are pushing the same crap on opposite ends of the political spectrum. Nothing more than a control game

Both poorwrestler and I believe Wells will be moving to 141 sooner than later. Flynn could easily man 133 for MN

Every single human is brainwashed or groomed by their parents. Whether that be with LGBTQ or organized religion, it’s basically the same concept. Ram a bunch of BS down kids throats long enough so they believe it and then once they are adults they will pass it to the next generation. LGBTQ is just the lefts version of religion

Lots of evidence going both ways on it. Heck the class of 08 and 15 for the Gophers are good examples to not redshirt. CP Schlatter, Mack Reiter and Roger Kish were all battered, missed a lot of time and were a shell of themselves. 2015 you had Dylan Ness and Nick Dardanes.
-
What would the plan at 133 be then?
-
Someone will hit the portal between Swiderski, Chittum and Johnson. I don’t know how they make this work. Unless a complete lineup shift from 165-184 goes up to 174-197 after this year and the 149-165 is a combo of Enchimedia, Chittum, Johnson and Swiderski but then there’s still a odd man out. I also expect Zach Redding to hit the portal

We don’t spend the money that other top programs do. Just the body language of the team compared to the past tradition of 25 years is much different. If we kept all of our talent that has came in the past 10 years, the results would be much different IMO. This is not just me, I have had conversations in the stands of duals with multiple others who said exactly what I was thinking. Some fans out there would like to see some outside the program assistants come in how Brandvold did years ago, thinking Luke Becker and Zach Sanders have gotten stale.
-
Maybe it would not be though. Let’s say VTech stays on the same path, top 5-10 every year, plus he has head coaching experience. He would be a more attractive candidate than other assistants who would be applying for a Big job. When Bono gets fired by Wisconsin, he will be a very attractive candidate being a alumni and with requisite head coaching experience.

We have seen it many times now with True Freshmen Hwts. Both Mason Parris and Adam Coon went into NCAAs as true freshmen ranked very high and failed to place. Very rare to see a true freshmen place at Hwt. My worry is the portal for Hopke. If you redshirt him and develop him for someone else. If you wrestle him immediately he will likely be similar to what we have in Bennett Tabor, undersized about 230 lbs and will be ranked in the 15-25 range.
-
We never know. Kevin Steinhaus was projected 165 to start and maybe 174 down the road and he was going up just weight per year as well. He got massive in the college weight room and if not for Schiller would have moved to 197. Tyler Safratowich was small forever, he was projected 133 and ends up 157-165. I would like to see Millard looking like a shorter version of Garrett Joles wrestling 165-174

With the Gophers past couple years, I sadly expect it. Some rumors of Salazar going 174 next year. I just don’t see it.
-
Have Salazar and Vombaur hit the portal yet?
-
I just don’t get it with these kids. One day they post how much they love the program and then a couples days later, bam. In the portal

If Greg’s last name was Anderson would people continue to think he’s going to be a mainstay in the Cornell lineup?
-
No matter what your personal opinions are, college institutions do not want to deal with coaches posting stuff that Brandon Slay has recently. There are plenty of coaches with the same opinions he has but they don’t need to run their big yaps on social media.
-
Hofstra, the administration doesn’t care about winning and 0 points at NCAAs. What the hell happened to American? 0 points at NCAAs. My pick though, one that rarely gets mentioned Franklin & Marshall

My biggest question is WTF is the point of the term “Associate Head Coach” if you are not hired as head coach after the head coach leaves or retires?
-
I have questioned how long Tyler Wells will be able to make 133 for. I wouldn’t mind a redshirt, kind of how Mike Thorn and Mitch McKee wrestled right away and took some lumps initially and were very good there final 3 years, McKee never redshirted though.
-
The issue is many of the guys who are long term assistant or Associate Head Coach’s (Casey Cunningham, Jared Frayer, Donny Pritzlaff, Luke Becker, Terry Brands, Jeremy Hunter, J Jaggers, Bryan Snyder) who are actually the highest qualified would have to deal with these things. 1. They 100% will not have the resources they are used to at a fully funded school. 2. They will likely have to deal a lot less with running practices and deal with alumni relations, organization of different stuff. Not that as a assistant you don’t have that but at a small school you have less scholarship, less money, less staff from coaches to trainers. 3. Many have kids and wives, if not all of them. Half of my list coach at the college they wrestled so they likely have a wife from that same area who doesn’t want to move the family. 4. Let’s be honest, the guys on this list would be taking pay cuts to become a head coach at a non fully funded program.

Here is an even rarer one, who already won a title and then transferred? Chuck Jean won 2 titles for Iowa St then finished at Adams St in NAIA. Steve Mocco won at Iowa the OK St
-
I have a tough time believing that McEnelly and Salazar lose to guys like Gabe Nagel and Gavin Nelson based on results on the mat.
-
For Minnesota some guys who may enter the portal depending on the situation. Hunter Lyden was hyped last offseason as why Cael Carlson transferred. Never beat out Blaine Brenner who is undersized. Gavin Nelson came in from Simley as a Blue Chip recruit and was 14-9 last season. If Isaiah Salazar moves up to 197 to make room for Max McEnelly, he is a guy you could see hit the road. Salazar could move on as well, I hope Nelson stays and continues to develop. Will Short is one of the best high school coaches in the nation. Past Simley guys Jake Short, Nick Wanzek and Jake Gliva all were NCAA qualifiers but failed to AA.

Univ. at Buffalo parts ways with Stutzman

The best move a program like them would be to run it how Mark Cody did at American. Invest a lot of resources into a few top 50 recruits who can and will AA, try and score guys in the portal from Ohio St, Penn St and so on and even bring in guys from D2. what I am saying is hire MARK CODY
