  1. Let’s see both ends of the spectrum of guys(Not including Hwts) who cut a ton or we know don’t cut at all. It was well documented years ago Matt Pell AA’d at 184 as a sophomore weighing in at 176 because he couldn’t beat Tyron Woodley at 165 or Ben Askren at 174, then dropped to 165 after Woodley graduated. Examples for cutting would include Matt Ramos, Patrick McKee and Cole Matthews. Some guys not so much might be Dylan Shawver and Dayton Fix. Whos cutting too much and needs to move up?
  2. Look how Pantaleo was at 65, same exact results. Pantaleo is very tough at 70 but too small at 74 and too big for 65
  3. Blockhus got a good draw considering his seed
  4. Salazar has to love his bracket placement. He is hoping Rogotzke loses round 1. Outside of that land mine, I think he does well
  5. A good bracket placement is 20 seed Tyler Wells. He beat his first round opponent Kurt Phipps the first time 7-2. If he were to win against he would possibly face Dylan Shawver who he also beat in the dual. He hasn’t gotten smoked by anyone as of yet. He wrestles way too tight so far in college but could be a bracket buster.
  6. If Minnesota has Salazar and McKee AA I will be happy. Not convinced that Blockhus can give it a real go. If he can, I foresee the possibility of 3 AAs with Joles winning 2-3 matches and about 5 wins from everyone else. If we can finish top 10 that’s a amazing finish for this team
  7. Minnesota got all 10 in with 3 at larges and stole some spots at Big Tens
  8. As a MN fan I would rather see McKee against guys like Ramos and Barnett than Davis and Ayala.
  9. Anyone have a list of guys who earned AQ’s who had a poor qualifier and now require a at large to make the big show?
  10. Garrett Joles, he’s been somewhat under ranked all season. He has taken most of the best guys right until the end and beaten a couple. He really wasn’t much more than a body out there his first few years, qualified as a HWT last year and now comes back wrestling well looking like Big Papa Pump Scott Steiner
  11. Honestly a great program example of this overtime was Minnesota in the JRobinson era. Identifying the type of recruit who works in your system. Lots of guys from Minnesota class A(schools under 400 enrollment) have done well and AA’d or won titles. Kevin Steinhaus, Brett Pfarr, Brad Pike, Owen Elzen, Jacob Volkmann, Chad Kraft, Brad Gibson, Matt Nagel, Tyler Safratowich and Zach Sanders all made the awards stand from small town Minnesota. In addition to that you brought in Tim Hartung and Cole Konrad from Small town Wisconsin. These guys all way out performed recruiting rankings, that is if they were even ranked and many of these guys were not.
  12. She’s 33 and in women’s sports historically age catches up to them much quicker than men but they also hit their prime a few years younger than men do. Look at her results, her prime was 2014-2019
  13. Is this immediate or end of the season?
  14. There was a Berge Greco wrestler for Norway who won Bronze in 2016
  15. Purdues team is butt cheeks right now outside of Ramos
  16. Who are the coaches? Nick Suriano, Mike Poeta and AJ Ferrari Sr?
  17. The Illini need more Italian wrestlers
  18. Chris Foca is Italian for Cornell. Guessing Rocco Welsh mother is Italian. Isn’t Amine part Italian?
  19. Will Rogotzke wrestle Rogotzke?
  20. When will the Big Ten, etc switch to having quads at the college level? 1/3 of the weigh ins per season, I know less events means less money. I would think it saves a lot on the travel budget as well. For instance Iowa hosts Nebraska, Illinois and Rutgers at Carver on a Sunday for a noon, 2pm and 4pm event.
  21. I would not foresee Roberts beating Webster. 149 must be rather poor this year because Roberts has next to 0 offense from his feet being ranked top 20. He was within striking distance at the end against Iowa and had no shots at all and ended up getting taken down again. At 133 I see Wells winning that match solidly. 141 is a coin flip, 165 is a coin flip, 174 is NOT going to be a close match as Ruth should dominate Sparks. Sparks has had so many injuries, he isn’t the same guy anymore sadly(think Brayton Lee). I think Tabor can wrestle with Luffman. I will say Illinois wins 149, 165 and 174. Final score Minnesota 25 Illinois 11
  22. If tied after tiebreakers, put them in the over-under clinch
  23. Burroughs shoes will be on the mat at trials, likely after a semis loss to Nolf. Gilman, I don’t necessarily see him as a shoes on the mat guy. I would love to see Alex Dieringer start fighting MMA at 170 lbs. Does Dom Bradley finally retire from competition? He’s been out of college for ages at this point. I see Nick Suriano, Tony Cassioppi and Alex Marinelli competing for Italy after this cycle.
