Cornell has more Italians than Rutgers
-
Vance VomBaur has basically solidified he wasn’t a fluke AA. He’s been breaking matches open. He was losing those close matches last year. By the end he was winning those matches at NCAAs with his crazy pace.
-
Minnesota is a better dual team as they don’t have anyone who will get bonuses regularly. Gable should get 1st with a lot of bonus. I sadly see a lot of low AA types. I see Flynn, Wells, Vombaur, Askey, McEnelly and Salazar as guys who unless multiple injuries won’t make the finals but all likely will place 5-R12. I hope Sparks can stay healthy and post a R12-R16 result along with Whiting who I project to do better as the season goes with the cut. If MN can get Gable to win and 6 other AA’s and contributions from Sparks, Whiting and Roberts we can take 2nd
-
I would love to see Askey drop to 149 and wrestle Millard right away at 157. Roberts is a good backup but he overall lacks scoring ability without a true go to attack to move up to a top 10 guy.
-
Not sure on Flynn but wells and Vombaur cut a ton. Makes sense to get those guys on the mat ASAP.
-
We lose Sparks at 165 who will be replaced by Charlie Millard who’s killing it, Salazar who will be by Gavin Nelson and Gable who will likely by Koy Hopke if he recovers well.

How Golden Were Those 2007 Gophers?
Lunaticfringe replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
I believe one year Iowa had 11 returning AAs to its team. Another year when 9 placed, the only to fail to AA was defending champion Mark Reiland -
How Golden Were Those 2007 Gophers?
Lunaticfringe replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
It was 2001, not 2007. We did so with 0 finalists, with Leroy Vega, Jared Lawrence, Luke Becker, Brad Pike, Owen Elzen and Garrett Lowney all losing in the semis(3 in OT). Damion Hahn and Brett Lawrence had to fight back a long way to AA -
Nelson Brands is the most overrated wrestler in the country. Patrick Kennedy and him should be a coin flip at best for him based on his overall results. He had one good Ncaa tourney where he kept matches low scoring and snuck out some late wins. If his name was Nelson Peterson, nobody would give a damn.

Davis has a redshirt remaining but I would let him wrestle and run Nagao out of town personally. He honestly was better at Minnesota. SVN is being remembered for his NCAA finish but he was seeded #12 I believe and lost a lot of matches. Facundo is going to have to do it elsewhere kind of like Michael Beard. He just isn’t that guy

Let’s pray this happens!

That is what I heard as well, even still listed at 157. Here would be my projections 125-Tanner Jordan Super Sr 133-Derrick Cardinal Jr 141-Alek Martin Jr(couldn’t beat Carlson, better weight for him maybe) Another option is True Fr Logan Swenson if Martin is hurt 149-Cade Siebrecht So 157-Cobe Siebrecht Sr 165-Cael Swenson Jr (IF Swenson is out they NEED to go get Patrick Kennedy) 174-Cade DeVos Super Sr 184-Bennett Berge So 197-Zach Glazier Super Sr(Quin Morgan redshirt, could be very good) Hwt-Luke Rasmussen So

How often in the world when a statement is made right away does it turn out to be BS? If our government made a statement like this, the same people believing this would be saying conspiracy theory.

I looked at the recruiting class they have coming in. It looks like a D3 recruiting class when looking at accolades. I know for 100% sure St Cloud St and Augsburg have better guys coming in. Guys have left in the portal in mass quantity. Huge cause for concern.
-
Boise St had an amazing program at times. They had so many unseeded guys AA, in the 2000-2010 range they had some really tough a5letes. Greg Randall was a great coach and recruiter.
-
I don’t know if I see a crazy amount of upside. I do think he has room to grow but pretty sure he’s been in the PINnacle room forever and is in a very good STMA room as well. He’s not a guy like Brett Pfarr who was in the small school classification who played multiple other sports; didn’t have the extra coaching or partners in high school.

Is Kolat in Trouble at Navy?

Honestly at this point SDSU is in the same tier as Minnesota, Northern Iowa, Missouri, Lehigh, Rutgers, NCST(great dual team but never do well at NCAAs) -
Who said TMS is retiring from wrestling?
Lunaticfringe replied to bnwtwg's topic in International Wrestling
She can always be Pro amateur wrestling, Kurt Angle and Chas Betts still are. She has a lot better chance to make $1 million or more the next few years in fake wrestling than real wrestling. She’s aging into her 30s now, not everyone eats, breathes and thinks about wrestling all the time. -
Who said TMS is retiring from wrestling?

Imagine going to your day job and being told, if you are the top person in the world you get 500k this year, if you are 2nd in the world you get 250k this year and if you are 3rd you get 100k. If you are 4th or worse you get enough pay to live in an apartment or rent a room and eat ok. That’s essentially what being an international wrestler is. In this game she has way less pressure, just to perform. She gets paid the same whether she wins or loses. Not really any different than being a figure skater -
Who is the next Hall of Famer?
Lunaticfringe replied to Wrestleknownothing's topic in College Wrestling
Jayson Ness went 5,2,3,1 and sadly does not meet the criteria. Similar to Mark Ironside who just misses it. Ness lost to Hazewinkle in the semis and then lost to Escobedo in consi Semi(he never seemed to figure Angel out) and pinned Obe Blanc for 5th. Those pin points were big in the Gophers 3rd title in 7 years. -
Alot of Buzz coming for New Associate HC at Rutgers
Lunaticfringe replied to feet2back's topic in College Wrestling
Coleman Scott has been a proven solid head coach and OkSt did improve last year with him there. Probably the best hire. Molinaro is a good hire as well being from Jersey and Italian, it is probably the right hire demographically. -
Is Kolat in Trouble at Navy?
Lunaticfringe replied to ThreePointTakedown's topic in College Wrestling
Kolat was not too different as an assistant. He was at Lock Haven, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Lehigh and UNC before going to Campbell. He really never should have left because recruiting will be nearly impossible at a service academy. He had Ryder Rogotzke committed only to bail to Ohio St. His results are not any better than the previous coaches since taking over. -

I have always put Kolat in the Sammie Henson category. Great technical coach, really good assistant but probably a micromanager as a head coach. He tends to piss a lot of people off as well. Just like Henson, he seemed to wait forever for his first head job at a not so good school. -
