  1. Maybe Michial Foy deserves just a little credit for this recent win over Warner. They had a very similar match last year that Warner won by just a point or two. So not a total shock.
  2. Sorry, "Zargo" not Parco
  3. Just for fun I broke down the Flo Big Board rankings from each of last night's contestants (and probables in parenthesis) from their Senior year in high school. NR= not ranked. 125 Spencer Lee #2, (Ybarra #16) vs. Pat McKee #38 133 Brody Teske #34, (Schreiver #66) vs. Jake Gliva NR, (Nagao #69) 141 Real Woods #21 vs. Jacob Bergeland NR 149 Max Murin #44 vs. Michael Blockhus #44 157 Cobe Siebrecht NR vs. Brayton Lee #13 165 Patrick Kennedy #3 vs. Cael Carlson NR, (Sparks NR) 174 Aiden Riggins #84, (Brands #94) vs. Bailee O'Reilly NR 184 Drake Rhodes NR, (Assad #13) vs. Isaiah Salazar #27 197 Jacob Warner #7 (Glazier #32) vs. Foy NR Hwt Bradley Hill #87 on MatScouts, (Cassioppi #14) vs. Joles NR
  4. After the Parco win and close loss to Real Woods, I was hearing national finalist by some. Let's pump the brakes there a bit and let him get some matches in.
  5. That head slap call against Facundo last night was poor, and don't get me started on the match against Amine last week, when the ref called takedown twice and then waved it off. Heck, even the ref in the Ohio State wrestle offs against his teammate screwed him.
  6. He's a tough kid, but some of the wrestling media people were overhyping him a bit early on.
  7. He's 76.
  8. Marcus LeVesseur, out of Minneapolis Roosevelt and Bloomington Kennedy, is who you are thinking of. After his RS Fr year he would have one year of overlap of eligibility with one of two national champs, either Jared Lawrence or Luke Becker, if he moved up.
  9. Askren mentioned on FRL that a third person had been told by Davis that, something to the effect of, Ben wouldn't be very good in college.
  10. I'm not sure what part you are disagreeing with. He dislikes both past and present Badger HCs, for different reasons, hence projecting a negative view towards the program in general that his athletes pick up on.
  11. I think it is partly him not liking Bono and partly the U of WI in general, going back to Barry Davis and comments that he made when Askren was being recruited.
  12. New gig as a motivational speaker for the youth of America. Only drops the F-bomb a couple times.
  13. So, we are on a message board discussing an instagram post explaining a tweet from a high school kid.
  14. Outstanding effort by the Gophers with 3 starters out. Especially glad to see Bergeland back to his NCAA form from last year. #11 Minnesota 24, #17 Illinois 9 157: #14 Michael Carr (ILL) dec. Sebas Swiggum (MINN), 11-6 165: Cael Carlson (MINN) dec. #19 Danny Braunagel (ILL), 2-1 174: #15 Bailee O’Reilly (MINN) dec. #10 Edmond Ruth (ILL), 6-4 184: #10 Isaiah Salazar (MINN) dec. #25 Dylan Connell (ILL), 3-2 197: #10 Zac Braunagel (ILL) dec. #27 Michial Foy (MINN), 5-4 TB1 HWT: #32 Garrett Joles (MINN) dec. Matt Wroblewski (ILL), 7-3 125: #5 Patrick McKee (MINN) maj. dec. Maximo Renteria (ILL), 14-2 133: #10 Lucas Byrd (ILL) dec. Jake Gliva (MINN), 3-1 141: #15 Jake Bergeland (MINN) maj. dec. #9 Danny Pucino (ILL), 12-2 149: #15 Michael Blockhus (MINN) maj. dec. Jake Harrier (ILL), 14-4 Note: InterMat Rankings
  15. Nelson pinning Gelogaev in the National Duals. Ohh I miss the National Duals.
  16. I thought the first half was alright, but the upper weights were a snooze fest, except for Starocci/Brands dance off at the end.
  17. Illinois looks to be a slight favorite. I'm hoping the Gophers will come out strong with having only 1 match this week.
  18. This was one of my favs. I'm sure Alex can appreciate it.
  19. They should have just checked his oil.
  20. I don't know what oil the fuss is about.
  21. Lots of injuries to the true fr. and redshirt fr. Lyden, Tabor, and Jamison haven't wrestled at all this year, and doesn't look like they will. I think Sparks slides up to 174 and Carlson in at 165 next year. Lyden could challenge either guy if he can stay healthy. I like some combination of Vombaur, Jamison, and Roberts at 141 and 149, if Blockhus doesn't use his 6th year.
  22. Brands accuses Hilger of being "oiled up".
  23. Ty Cobb would only hit about .270 against today's MLB pitching. But in his defense, he would be 137 years old.
