  1. Actually U20 freestyle last year. 65 kg Quarters - Cody Chittum, Greco-Roman Development vs Tagen Jamison, Texas Pride Wrestling Club (flowrestling.org)
  2. Gable last year and Blockhus this year both graduated, so would need to enter a Masters program to wrestle at the U. Gable is considering wrestling next year and Blockhus would have stayed if needed, but the Gophers are high on Vance Vombaur, Tagen Jamison, and Drew Roberts to fill 141-149 next year. These 3 have all been slowed by injuries but have also each had big wins.
  3. No. Twenty percent of the population of Minnesota is named Nelson, ya know.
  4. Max is going 184 in college. He only weighs 190. When he won his world medal last year he was like 13 pounds underweight.
  5. The covid year doesn't count as part of the eligibility clock. So, everyone who was in school then has a 6 year clock instead of the normal 5. Some, like Taylor Lamont just completed their 7th year because of an additional medical shirt.
  6. New Flo article on Hopke's Recruitment. Hard to find better practice partners than Minnesota with McEnelly and Nelson coming in, plus Brandvold and the last two world teamers Zillmer and Steveson. When Will Koy Hopke Make His College Commitment? - FloWrestling He is listed as 6'2" in his football profiles and weighed in at 229 the day he wrestled Schunke.
  7. I guess we'll see at the Open. ...and Gable absolutely has another year of college wrestling, if he chooses to use it.
  8. Does anyone have a link to results, with the individual breakdowns?
  9. Considering he beat Haines 2 straight in the U20 team trials, I certainly think he's in that conversation right now.
  10. It was more of an existential question.
  11. Why would a person of faith disrespect others faith, even if it isn't exactly the same as your own?
  12. Gopher went 7-3 (counting 1 pigtail). Were seeded to go 6-4, so a decent round. Not bad considering their best guy from last year turned pro and the second best guy was injured and didn't qualify.
  13. Matt Lamb, Michigan State HWT was mid to late 20's but I think blood round was his best finish. He made a comeback on the SR GR circuit at age 42. Matt Brown, PSU was around 25, I think. One season He wrestled like 4 different weights, 165-197 or something like that.
  14. Mitchell Mesenbrink to parts unknown.
  15. Go Gophers! Great first session.
  16. They were wrestling 184 and 195 most of the year but have moved up to 195 and Hwt for the post season. Cole doesn't seem big enough to be a college Hwt, but I would have said the same for Cassar, so maybe he can gain the size needed over a few years.
  17. Are they going to come back for the 2nd half or maybe just call it a day? Good lord, I've seen better set ups at middle school matches.
  18. They need to bring their hips to the party.
  19. I thought 149 was the ideal starting weight for the Gophers, but the upper weights wrestled better than the lower guys who have bigger cuts.
  20. Gophers leading Badgers 13-6 at the half. Gophers have used 2.5 backups so far and Gomez out for WI. Minnesota 13 Wisconsin 6 149 Michael Blockhus (Minnesota) fall Aidan Medora (Wisconsin) 5:56 157 Garrett Model (Wisconsin) dec. Drew Roberts (Minnesota) 12-9 165 Dean Hamiti (Wisconsin) dec. Cael Carlson (Minnesota) 7-3 174 Bailee O'Reilly (Minnesota) maj. dec. Josh Otto (Wisconsin) 14-4 184 Sam Skillings (Minnesota) dec. Tyler Dow (Wisconsin) 10-4
  21. How does Cael put up with these Godless shenanigans?
  22. This dual has lots of intriguing match-ups!
