  1. I think he means Columbo, but can't spell.
  2. His total offense was Lee touching his headgear.
  3. Right, all the podcasts talking about Cy/Hawk dual, which had a great crowd but not the most exciting matches. Brayton Lee wins that match if the dual were on the line, but Blockhus already clinched it. Brayton missed the whole week of Thanksgiving with a fever, and probably didn't get much mat time before this dual.
  4. Bergeland's first match and Lee's second. They'll be fine.
  5. Let's talk about the weight shift that Minnesota did in the last two weight classes. When is the last time in D1 wrestling when two guys shift up a weight from where they were a couple days ago and beat two higher ranked guys. Foy, the backup at 184 moves up and beats Surber and Joles #28 at 197 beats #18 Doucet at Hwt.
  6. Gfeller beats Lee in the final bout, but Gophers win the dual 18-12.
  7. Dual tied at 3-3 after 2 matches.
  8. They are doing some pre-match coverage now on the Big Ten Network.
  9. He's not listed as a probable today. A while ago, I heard possibly December, or more likely January.
  10. Starting at 125, decisions, decisions.
  11. I never feel good about going into Gallagher-Iba, and I really don't like that the cowboys have been off for more than 2 weeks, and should be fresh, or hopefully rusty, haha.
  12. I think that a lot of the time the student announcers or volunteer try to do too much. They dabble in trying to do color commentary when they aren't even getting the play by play right. Concentrate on getting the names right, and anything that we can't see on the screen...match time, riding time, period, match score, team score, etc. and don't be a homer. Don't try to predict match strategy or interpret referee calls if you aren't sure what's going on. You are just setting yourself up for criticism. If you as an announcer haven't been around the sport for decades, you will probably know less than 90% of the people tuning in, so just stay in your lane and keep it simple.
  13. John Smith originally wanted him at 174, so he must be overcompensating
  14. Keegan Moore graduated in 2016, so this should be the start of year 7.
  15. Probables have been released... Iowa's Probable Lineup 125: Aidan Harris 133: Cullan Schriever 141: #3 Real Woods or Drew Bennett 149: #6 Max Murin 157: #21 Cobe Siebrecht or Caleb Rathjen 165: #15 Patrick Kennedy 174: #20 Nelson Brands 184: #9 Abe Assad 197: #3 Jacob Warner 285: #4 Anthony Cassioppi Iowa State's Probable Lineup 125: #12 Kysen Terukina 133: #15 Zach Redding or Ramazan Attasauov 141: #8 Casey Swiderski 149: #9 Paniro Johnson 157: Jason Kraisser 165: #3 David Carr 174: Julien Broderson 184: #5 Marcus Coleman 197: #6 Yonger Bastida 285: #10 Sam Schuyler
  16. Really good StaleMates video about the history of the Dresser / Brands rivalry.
  17. The match clock was off by a few seconds too, and the announcers often said the wrong score.
  18. 2008, 149 weight class had about 6 NCAA finalists I believe. Metcalf, Schlatter, Burroughs, Churella, Jenkins, Caldwell, Palmer, etc.
  19. He will redshirt, but Minnesota's Troy Spratley is 3-0 with all 3 wins against D1 starters (NDSU, SDSU, Binghamton).
  20. I like the concept of wrestle offs or intersquad matches as "indicator matches". Between these matches, practice performance, and competition results at opens and early duals, any head coach should be able to make an intelligent decision as to who should start. This is what all other sports do, except for maybe track or swimming races when exact times can be compared.
  21. Both Gibson brothers flip from Cornell to Penn State. I wonder what happened there.
  22. Voltaren and Bud Light....feel no pain!
  23. "Arizona with the new 2-piece singlets" Is that like a pair of pants, or a jumbo shrimp?
  24. On the podcast, where he committed, he said probably 197, but then laughed and said possibly Hwt if he grows.
