  1. I don't care what YOU buy, I was clearly responding to why someone would be driving a 10-year-old Honda Civic...and it was a hypothetical situation...and I don't know you so...you can convey your point as strongly as you'd like, I'm not sure why you're upset I don't blindly believe you over nearly every other source.
  2. I love watches...but I've never spend more than...500 on one. I bought one for someone that was expensive, but I don't care much. As for vehicles, same thing. I think Toyota is the way to go. I don't have a job where I need a big 2500 or 3500, so a Tundra or Tacoma works for me and the re-sale makes all the difference. 5 year Toyota Tacoma is 87.5% and on a Tundra it's 82%, but these new hybrids are supposed to be higher. Got a Capstone last year. Was going to buy used, but it was like 10K difference for one two years old and since it was a hybrid, you got a 7500 tax credit and a 3500 rebate...and I just took it in for an oil change and they were asking if I wanted to upgrade(I do not) but it was tempting. The difference trading it in wasn't much. Plus, the warranties are so good on Toyota(I didn't intend for this to become an add). Before that, it was 10+ year old vehicles and I ended up spending too much to maintain them. I also just don't get excited over a sports car.
  3. Oh...yeah, this has gotten SO silly, I was totally being sarcastic. They just pulled Ono after people wondered if he may Wrestle in College and people were mocked for it and called idiots. They got Jayden James....an absolute hammer and his Freshmen year, they may have 5 174 pounders who can beat him. Really...Duke, Cunningham, Henkel, Gibson and Lee or...whoever, I don't know. I can't really speak to how big of an upgrade he'd be. Cole Mirasola has been the less accomplished, but he's also been the one going up. So his Brother has Wrestled at his ideal weights and he hasn't been able to, but still seems like Connor is a bit more talented. If I saw Cole, I may think otherwise, but it's not even really about him and how he's building up to HWT, so he could be 230 and looking like Anthony Cessar, but I'm not sure he's got the frame of Cessar. Trumble, I love how he Wrestles, I think he's the guy who has the next best chance to be our 97KG rep, but he's only got one more year left. So maybe it's more realistic that they get Trumble and then Ross flips to PSU. I don't know at this point. Penn State Wrestling is when I used to play video games and I did 'build a franchise,' and I had all 99s except for a couple positions and they'd be 88s but young and still winning MVP. It's just a game at this point.
  4. What has Jordan Williams done off the Mat? Far as I know, he got drunk twice and one of those two times there was "malicious damage to property." It feels like kids are REALLY going over the top on this kid. He's not accused of the same thing a former Okie State Wrestler has been. Just did some stupid kid stuff. Also, I've seen repeatedly how Sinclair is going '84, but is there any thought to him going 174? I think he's a legitimate contender next year at '74(even with Haines)...I just don't see it at '84 with McNelly, Ferrari, whoever wins the job at PSU(not doing the whole list again). When you see him next to these guys...he's just smaller. He's shorter and I don't want to sound mean here, but he's not real defined. Suffice to say, I think he's got a little...extra weight he could drop, get down to '74 and be a beast.
  5. Because you're financially literate and understand if you just invest that money, you're going to be set up for life. I mean, you're going to spend some of that and you're going to pay taxes, so...not quite, but a 20 year old kid putting a 180K into a retirement fund, he'll be worth millions if he does nothing else. Put it in something safe, don't touch most of it and keep driving a 2015 Civic(which...really not that old or a car).
  6. Call me Naive, I just don't believe Cael and that staff was reaching out to Welsh and looking at that lineup and syaing, 'we really need help at moving forward at '74 and '84, lets see if we can poach the OSU kid." It's a move that doesn't make sense. Going after a HWT...that might make sense. Cole Mirasola is the marginally worse Mirasola...I have trouble thinking Connor is going to bump up and Wrestle HWT when he went 195 in HS rather than 220 and challenge his Brother...who has likely been bulking up and I'd guess is looking more like a Luke Davidson type build than Connor who I assume is trying to hold his weight so he can Wrestle 92KG yet. That said, if you told me PSU boosters who had ties to the HS programs let it be known he would be wanted there...that I could see.
  7. How many more posts will you make about those 3rd and 4th place finishes being 1st and 1st place finishes over Penn State before the tournament? Because...I'm guessing you'll outlast everyone with your trolling. Ono-will be going for his 4th title and you'll be asking if Penn State is ruining their recruiting by bringing in a foreign Wrestler(after they recruit the #1, 2 and 3 ranked Wrestlers at his weight) in a couple years...or whatever. Just spit-balling, but I'm not sure I'm capable of imagining the stupidity of your posts until I actually see them. Oh, one I DEFINITELY see coming, "PSU only won by 60 points and only scored 150 points. Is Cael on the Hot seat?"
  8. How is that? I don't think the size of the school has anything to do with kids picking one sport and dedicating themselves to that.
  9. Yeah...the "jist" of this post is that you're pulling this from up in your colon...which is fine, it's where it seems like most of your takes come from. I DO remember the argument being made that when you look back...and McEnally was the guy we were talking about, but IF he beat Keck and won a 5th, then he should be considered on the same level as Dake. Not sure anyone...EVER suggested he'd be the "goat" of any type, unanimous or otherwise. Though, I will go on record now and say clearly nobody occupies more room in your particular mind as "cstall," the guy with the largest bonus rate among the Hodge finalists. But yeah, if that argument was made...then you go cite that exchange. Also, it's "too lazy." But I suspect you're not looking it up because it takes a LONG time to find something that doesn't exist. Just like those looking for Asgard over the Ice Wall!
  10. More kids are specializing in sports. It follows more kids would Wrestle out in Fargo. I don't think that's an argument against changing the entire foundation American Wrestling is built on. It's not that big of an adjustment to go from Folkstyle to Freestyle...there's a bigger adjustment the other way, but we'll see how Ono does with that.
  11. I would just have them go again. Start the OT...over. Back to the feet, then back to the mat. I don't like any match decided by criteria. I think Ono is going to help grow Collegiate style and...I don't think going to Freestyle is even a consideration right now...so arguing about which is more exciting is a moot point. We have both...that's good enough for me.
  12. LOL...what does this have to do with Buchanan or how Iowa coached him up? And I don't know who else on this forum uses the term "awesome sauce dude," but...you find them and let 'em know...don't.
  13. Kueter is going back to Football next year, no? He's a 4 star recruit as a FB player, they're losing their 3 starting backers. I think he's going to play a big role on that team...and I think that's more than likely the end of him being a realistic contender at HWT. He doesn't get in the room until sometime after Jan 1, he's beat up from Football. He doesn't have to cut, so that's good...and I have no doubt he'll be in shape, but not Wrestling shape. So he's not gonna have a ton of time. He's also going to be draft eligible next year, so if he's as good at FB as many have said...he may just want to focus on the sport that could pay him a whole lot more money.
  14. We're not serious, right? Iowa took a kid who took two 3rds and an 8th as a Freshmen and...he beat a Penn State Freshmen in the finals. If that's the example you've got of "coaching 'em up," it's...not the strongest. Also, '97 was probably the weakest weight this year.
  15. My bad...I just made a mistake. I meant Joe Scarpello. Got them confused.
  16. Kinda is. He's actually been teammates and worked with one of them. The other was at...what should have been their biggest rival the last 2 and next 2-3 years and a guy he wrestled in the finals. Also, encouraging a Freshmen who he thinks highly of...when MOST other Freshmen would jsut hit the portal and go elsewhere makes a whole lot of sense.
  17. I think he's got a shot. He went to SV with Henson this year. Iowa hasn't had a ton of success with transfers and this only furthers the point Askren made, but...what, should they have NOT gone after them? I think his best chance would have been at Okie St, but...what's done is done. I think he's got a chance. He lost to last years champ and the guy who lost this year 1-0 in SV. But what a stupid premise. If he didn't win it next year, he can't next? Joey Blaze took 2nd after going 0-2, losing to a guy who took an 8th and another who didn't place. Chumbley was the 20 seed. Took 4th. Taylor was the 8th seed. Won it this year. Now this is '57, but amazing how those things happened, isn't it?
  18. Yeah, I know, I wasn't calling you out or saying 'told ya so,' I made the statement because I just thought it was the last...ridiculous thing that COULD happen(I guess Ross could flip to PSU also) this year and I didn't believe it. Again, I just said it facetiously. I didn't even say Feldman. I would have but ONLY because...Keuter is playing Football again and I don't now if he's going to play Wrestle(but I know he's going back). And then...I suppose I may have thrown out Jimmy Mullen. He seems like a guy who could make a big jump, but again, to be clear, I was making a joke as it's their only weight they're not going to be a favorite or...damn near a favorite to win a NC. I don't even know it's true, just reading this thread.
  19. I love these type of stupid posts. They're RS Freshmen, we haven't seen them since the Southern Scuffle(they both won it) and then the 3 losses were to Barr, their own teammate, Luffman, a 4-0 loss to a VERY good HWT and Feldman himself. These kids were elite in HS and they've spent a year in the PSU rooms. They weren't touted as the next PJ Duke's, but putting on a cap on what they are AT BEST at this point seems moronic. I can't count the number of guys who ended up placing far higher than their "at best," and just as many who placed lower than their "at least." Lets maybe...let the red shirts come off the kids before talking about how "overrated" they are at this point.
  20. I made a joke about this...saying PSU was getting Welsh and then I said and probably a HWT. Someone replied and said who and I said...'the best HWT not graduating this year.' I was kidding...though I considered Bastida may or someone to Wrestle Mirasola off. But if Feldman does it, THIS is the criteria I will grade Penn State next year. Penn State vs the Field Lillednahl points score vs -highest non-Penn State Point Scorer Ono vs Crookham Blaze vs That's it. Only way to do it. It's insane. These guys JUST saw what DT can do for a guy. Go there if you must leave? Though, Okie State does have Carroll coming in at HWT, don't they?
  21. Cael said he 'tweaked' his knee and would be out for a week or two after the injury. They made the injury to Davis sound worse. I wouldn't be surprised if the writing was on the wall that Kasak was going to be the '57 and he went in, had it cleaned out(assuming it was a knee) in order to apply for the medical RS. I think Facundo could have been an AA this year at '57(assuming he could hold it...guessing that wasn't fun). But next year I would think Michigan would be the best place for him...assuming you can figure out the weights of the Mantanona Brothers. They look like studs...and tall. So '65/'74 seems like their future, so if '57 wasn't too tough, that makes sense for him. If it was...well, probably only a few schools who couldn't use him.
  22. I know he's leaving now, but he stayed and gave up a year knowing what he was facing. I don't know what HWT they're probably getting. It seems like at this point, go down the list, pick the highest place finisher who is coming back and it's him. Or...Tazhudinov at this rate. I don't know and I was being a bit facetious given their lineup and recruiting. People talked about Ono wrestling in College and it was mocked...openly. Penn State has a cluster already at '57-'97 and a Freshmen runner up goes there. They already had Blade and Duke. They lost out on the top 4 recruits of '26...and now they flip ANOTHER '74 pounder. It feels like movie with Eddie Murphy where if they can spend 1 million dollars in a day, they get to keep it and the value in his account just keeps going up. I feel about 30% sure that Feldman is following Welsh at this point. Though, I don't even know if it's official with Welsh. I didn't think they're actually much better with him. I think it's likely a marginal difference.
  23. We'll have to see how it plays out. Facundo lost a year and he's an elite Wrestler. He beat Haines and O'Toole last off-season, unless I'm mistaken. And then he beat Kasak in a Wrestle-off, then lost to him at the Blacknight Open. Both were 5-2 scores. But he spent a year not Wrestling his preferred weight with Mesenbrink, then came back, lost a year while trying to go down. I think this is going to be the...most absurd it gets for Penn State. I think David Taylor in Stillwater is going to make this more interesting, more balanced. I'd love to see Casey Cunningham in Columbus, but it seems as if he's a PSU lifer. Give Taylor a little more time and people are going to see you can win big matches there without sitting. The biggest upset in Wrestling history(arguably) and Hamiti beating O'Toole. He has some big time studs coming in. Forrest and Ross in 2 years. Lockett and Duke could make an all-time great rivalry if they are both maybe '74 pounders(both have to RS a year). But I certainly wouldn't cede that to Duke. Spratley made a helluva run. This SHOULD be the zenith of Penn State's recruiting and transfering and success. If it goes UP from here? If they come back after back to back record breaking tournaments, the #1 recruiting class, getting a Freshmen runner-up to transfer(probably a HWT) AND the World Champion and a kid who just beat Spencer Lee...if they come back and improve on ANY of that, NCAA Wrestling is just gonna have to change it to "Penn State vs the Field." The next highest scorer at each weight vs PSU's Wrestler.
  24. What does them medaling before coming to the NLWC have to do with his post? How is it even a response? Ono has already medaled. Do you think that'll hurt the caliber of Wrestlers who'll want to come and train at the NLWC? If so, make that argument. I don't even know what the one you're making is.
  25. I believe '84 will be the toughest weight at next years tournament... I made the case pretty well(at least I thought) in another thread where I listed all the guys, but just for starters, the kid from Minnesota is special. He had 4X potential if not for Covid. I really have a hard time seeing anyone beating him for a while. He's a big '84, he's got incredible feet, he's got a great shot, re-shot, defense. But then you can look at the returning AAs, Ferrari, Welsch, Sinclair, Norman from Stanford, Bennette Berge, Allred, etc... whoever is there for PSU(though it seems like that will be Welsch) and...lots of other good Wrestlers that I'm going to forget, but there is a ton of young talent.
